UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

One thing I noticed about the upcoming release of 5 Centimeters Per Second is that it has the BBFC 12 rating, yet the BBFC already passed it uncut with a U certificate when Manga previously released it.
Heh, that's a good spot. I forgot about that rating and I legit just looked at my Manga UK BD copy while I was writing up the newswire article on AUKN earlier today lol.

I'm still keeping my pre-order, but goddamn, that's so disappointing.

After a read through of the AL update the tl;dr is:

30th Nov -
30cm per second

7th Dec -
Code Geass
Gundam Seed
Ride Your Wave
Turn A (part 1)
SAO Alicization (part 2)

14th Dec -
Demon Slayer (part 1)
Promised Neverland (part1)
Love Live Sunshine s2 standard

As I'm sure most will know I'm a bit of a pessimist 🙄 but this just doesn't seem like its going to come together smoothly... all those releases over 2 weeks with the majority slap back in the middle of your 12 days sale during a pandemic.
Genuinely hope I'm wrong but 5+ years of AL Christmas's tells me otherwise.

And now is the time for MVM to start looking for a christmas temp because if some don't drop to Q1 2021 that guys gonna die!!!

Absolutely fair to apply pessimism until you see it in action this year though - but I wanted to take this chance let folks know what we're doing to learn from the past :).

Our e-commerce side of the business has grown so much now we've actually been in the process of transition from MVM for fulfilment to a larger solution as we love MVM and do not want them to die under the volume of our orders over the festive season especially (but in general too!)

We've completed the switchover now and shipping of new orders will go out via the new fulfilment house giving us sufficient time ahead to iron any kinks out of the system before we hit the all important festive season! The unexpected pro point of this to address concerns are that any preorders taken before The Promised Neverland will be fulfilled by MVM but the Christmas Sale will be handled by a scaled up solution.

So that means barring 5 Centimeters per Second and The Promised Neverland our EB stock will go out via MVM for those, but the extremely busy Christmas sale will go out via our new fulfilment house (who like a lot of operations like this are getting seasonal hands in to cover the busy period of Christmas!)So quick summary of points for the TL;DR:
  • Fulfilment on AlltheAnime: We've just switched over to a larger fulfilment house who also specialises in Collector's homevideo (companies like Second Sight Films use them for example). They will be managing all orders from the Promised Neverland EB onwards (inc regular orders).

  • Christmas sale: Will be managed by our new fulfilment house - who are aware of our usual order volumes and will have staff on hand by default to handle the busy Christmas period (which is something we desperately needed to address before this Christmas sale).

  • Homevideo specialists: We came to the conclusion of the new fulfilment house based on several criteria but the most important one is that they know and understand Collector's edition homevideo like I mentioned before, managing companies like Second Sight Films for example before.

  • Previous EBs before The Promised Neverland: Will be fulfilled by MVM - meaning that everything but 5 Centimeters per Second and The Promised Neverland won't ship from the same place the Christmas sale does so there'll be no delays from stock receipt to dispatch on those.
While nothing ever runs perfectly (especially in 2020) - this does offer a significant improvement over the last two years. In a time where retail stores are sadly at best a ? on whether they will be open, online business is even more important and we are taking this really seriously come the Christmas sale, our busiest time of the year.

We've got a few surprises for folks coming up on that note too so stay tuned!

Best,

Andrew

Hmmm. Does that mean Xmas stands better chances to be all sticking before end of the year? Not that I ever minded the wait, but with Brexit being Brexit...

I guess regarding the situation with Gundam SEED, on the chance that Nozomi does take a step back and try to fix the issue (which would probably take an extra 3-6 months due to the dub), it would make sense for AL to release the Ultimate Edition as it is and then delay the standard edition so that both sides have the proper HD Remaster. AL & Nozomi both planned to release the standard edition sometime in 2021 either way, so I don't think it would massively affect the scheduling for them.

Apparently the SD BD discs can be amended based on your current TV setup but I don't think many people here prefer that idea.

I'd say that is what would need to happen. The discs would probably already be in replication.

I mean the dub was in the can 2-3 years ago. If you know Little Kuriboh, his wife worked on the sound editing and tweeted a photo of being midway through Destiny a good 2 years ago.

That's correct there. The goal is, any government restrictions dependent, that all orders that aren't pre-orders should ship within the period of the sale stock allowing, but at the very least getting them out the door for arrival in time for Christmas (within the UK at least, internationally they'll leave at the same time but delivery times may vary there).

Best,

Andrew

Am still hoping they fix the issue with the SD BD discs cos I still have my Beez DVD sets and I doubt I would watch the SD version. If it's not going to be fixed, I might as well get the upcoming standard HD version set, but I want the whole thing for completion sake.

Seems Anime Limited are doing a thing to reveal what's going on for 12 days of Christmas this year starts at 19:30 and the description has...

Are you ready for Christmas? Well, this may be just what you need to prepare yourself, as we exclusively reveal our plans for this years 12 Days of Christmas sale, which runs from 1st-12th December 2020.

We have big announcements and product reveals aplenty, so don't miss this first ever All The Anime Showcase!

so should be interesting.
