UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Despite owning Aniplex's part 1, I once again couldn't help double dipping for the artbox and booklet (makes it the forth time after DRRR, Gurren and KlK). Sinthetic posted some images on twitter and it looks gorgeous. Should have mine tomorrow with any luck.

Was reading the 009 Re:Cyborg review from JPT on MyReviewer. Apparently the DVDs are PAL (4% speedup). I was under the assumption that all Anime Limited DVDs were NTSC, I guess that's not the case anymore.

Guess they collaborated with Madman on the discs?

I assume so, the Australian release was also 1 Blu-ray & 2 DVDs but was released at least a couple months prior to the UK one. I guess it's just a one-off given Andrew said 2D & 3D took so much space on 1 Blu-ray disc.

The BDMV is only 32gb or something. There was plenty of space to have the extras on there too or up the bitrate. That said it looks like they didn't have the best source to start with as the release also suffers from screwed contrast resulting in excessive banding throughout. (It's also in the source though)

EDIT: Forget what I said about upping the bitrate. 3D version is compromised of a stream at ~24mbps and another at half that for the 3D stream.

Alas yeah - 3D takes loads up! That said, it was Madman who did that one (we occasionally let them have some of the fun)!

Best,

I ordered SAO as soon as it went up on amazon and apparently my order will not be fulfilled until 28th. Not happy, time to cancel the order.

edit - so because I changed the delivery address on the 3rd September this causes delays in delivery apparently! **** off Amazon! And now they're saying "in this instance we will overlook this and upgrade your delivery to launch day" I've never heard such **** in my life.

Ah, I really want to lock in an order for FMP but finances are so tight the last three months of the year that I can't really afford to. Hope you guys leave one set for me to purchase Q1 ;)

Anime Limited and Madman having fun together... Does this mean we'll finally get a Nichijou Blu-ray release?

Honestly, any excuse.

(Seriously though, what could be more fun?)

Perhaps Madman would be interested in licensing and teaming up on releases of Future Boy Conan, Anne of Green Gables etc. now that their Ghibli well has dried up. Yeah, I'll use any excuse to bring them up...

I doubt that this is a new partnership though, or something that we should read any significance into re: future releases.

I was about to say, I think you're all going overboard given AL have a) been sharing discs with Madman for a while (at least since Space Dandy S1) and b) have also disc shared with Siren Visual and FUNimation

I was trying to remember what the other Anime Limited/Madman show I watched recently was, it'd be Space Dandy most likely.

To be fair, I wasn't serious. Well, I wasn't seriously suggesting that the release/statements were evidence that a Nichijou release would be happening. I was serious that a Nichijou Blu-ray release from Anime Limited would be great, though.

Not that Nichijou is the only thing Madman have dealt with that would make for a great release either, there's plenty.

I know you weren't necessarily serious, I just cringe whenever I see people randomly requesting titles. I imagine people that own or are in charge of distributors must be fed up of people asking them to buy reasonably obscure titles, as they probably get it all the time...

Also, nobody's buying a title because somebody on a forum asked them to. (Apparently ADV tried it once, it didn't sell very well for them.)
