UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

You know... If you were going to release Gundam... And you were going to release ALL of Gundam... Then starting at the very beginning would seem like a very good place to start...

Wild speculation of course... But could become interesting speculation should the next Gundam announcement be whatever would be considered the 2nd series. (Zeta?)

Oh don't say that, just the thought of such a monumental undertaking makes me feel giddy :D

The Gundam coup is probably my favourite piece of UK anime news ever!

I can't help but feel we should cherry pick the best Gundam to start with, need to make sure there's the fan base to support it before going Gundam mad.

I suspect that it will be a mixture of classics interspersed with the newer iterations, which makes sense when the newer shows will be more likely to be HD-ready, and many younger fans will have come into the franchise with those shows.

I'll be interested to see what's happening with Turn A - DVD only like the US or going their own way with BD.....a BD would be a massive coup, but I wouldn't blame them if they went the other way.

Couldn't resist creating an account just to state that, in my opinion, Zeta is one of the strongest entries in the series. Of course, being a brit who isn't a big fan of the ol' piracy, I've not seen many of the series - the original, zeta, G Gundam and Wing is generally about it.

I'd have no qualms about that being next, though I'd assume Turn A would be next up to the bat.

Welcome aboard, Andrew!

Good on you, sir!

I shall simply say that any and all Gundam titles released by All the Anime will be purchased by me. I'm still hoping for some collector's editions.

Conveniently this ties in with starting from the start, as there's little better than the movies version of First, or the Zeta TV series.

A cursory google indicates zeta has had the Blu-Ray treatment in Japan... So you never know...
Yes, it has and it looks amazing in hd. Unfortunately had to dl some of it as one of my R1 dvds sufferred from disc rot. The old Bandai dvds look like vhs transfers by comparison. I would be extremely interested in getting an English release of Zeta on bd.

As a consumer relatively new to Gundam, I'd say that I'd prefer them to be released in an order that it would make sense to watch them in. I'm guessing this would be chronologically - so 08th MS Team then 0080 then 0083 then Zeta? (I see that 0080 doesn't have a Japanese Blu-Ray release yet though, and 0083 is out in January.) That's just instinct though - if there's a better viewing order then I'll go along with that

I'm relatively new to Gundam too... My zeta speculation was based on it apparently being the next series released after the First.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gundam

As I understand it the timeline jumps around all over the place and typically watching in order of release works better than order of events. Whether or not that's actually the case, with Gundam is not something I can really comment on...

Well, Right Stuff released Turn A before they released the original series on Blu, so already AL haven't followed their release pattern. I'm sure they'll get round to it though!

As for Zeta on Blu, much like the original series, I'll wait for comparisons first to see if it's worth the upgrade.

Hey guys, in your latest newswire you have "(TBC) 009 Re:Cyborg Collector’s Edition (Blu-ray/DVD combi)" in the schedule. Does this mean the solo DVD release is cancelled and you'll be releasing the title the same way you have the T&B FIlms & Hal?

So I assume Psychic School Wars has dropped to Q1 2016? I don't mind, just budgeting for the end of the year. :) So pleased we are getting FMP Ultimate Edition though!

I would love for AL to release all of Gundam on Blu-Ray in original release order, so count me in on buying all the Gundam titles you release. :)

I'm happy to see we should get Mai Mai Miracle this year too based on the KS updated.

I'm hoping that AL don't mirror RS, in that I'm hoping that they take an independent view of whether to release on BD or DVD. Anything on BD will be an automatic purchase :)

Glad we're getting an Ultimate Edition of FMP - though hopefully this doesn't mean it will end up slipping a lot in terms of release date. It definitely makes sense to bundle all three releases together though.

A shame to see 009 Cyborg slip so significantly again - that title just can't seem to catch a break.

Is there any update on Short Peace and Nerima Daikon Brothers? Haven't seen any mention of them in ages.

I believe Andrew hinted (and I'm sure he'll correct me here if I've misunderstood) that there'd be further Gundam anouncemments at an upcoming convention in London.

I'm certainly hoping so, as I'm really champing at the bit for Turn A, and that was implied to be coming to the UK.

This waiting game sure is tough at times!
