UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Pretty sure the same conversation was had around about this time last year. Had some great releases since then and there are a few still on the back burner (Escaflowne), but I'd rather they take their time and nail each release content and quality wise.

The most recent delays have actually been incredibly handy for me as the next month or two (or three!) are very heavy release/purchase wise.

Yeah, I don't mind the delays, just kind of interested in the technicalities of the scheduling etc. as obviously there's some more recent stuff that has ended up slotting in ahead of stuff that was announced ages ago like Nerima Daicon, Samurai Flamenco, Letter to Momo etc.

Obviously Anime Ltd isn't like Manga or MVM where you get a new release every week, so theoretically it'd be interesting if more licenses are announced, if it would have to become like that to physically fit everything in.

Given that the lengthy ones seem to be the (relatively) older shows/movies (Escaflowne, Gankutsuou, FMP, the Shinkai movies) I'd imagine that it might take a while to assemble the necessary assets, especially as these will presumably have more than just on-disc contents.

I know they've talked about having one of the podcasts based on the packaging processes around a release - perhaps one around the overall process - from getting the licence through obtaining the assets, and everything else through to the actual release.

What time will it be please Jeremy? Would really love to ensure I make it and get a glimpse of you guys :)

That's for MCM to announce in all honesty, but all going well we should able to say by mid next week at the latest :)

Will these few shows a season pick-ups continue? Cause I like em.

I ask as I seem to remember Andrew saying if something gets his attention he'll look into it but sometimes there will be seasons where there's nothing on interest so it'll be passed by...but with the new deal going on with Viewster I feel like mayyybe just maybe there's a chance seasonal rights (streaming at the very least) will be a "thing".

Also, you've never announced physical rights to Arslan, Seraph of the End or Aoharu x Kikanjuu so I was wondering, are potential physical rights to those shows a matter of viewing figures, how well the show "went down", popularity? etc etc

Great pickup on Gangsta., really been enjoying the first three episodes. However, since Bandai Visual are including English subtitles on the Japanese Blu-rays i'm very likely to be going with those. Not sure whether i'll be getting the seperate volumes or the BOX though (^Д^)...

Gangsta is a solid pick up, but...

Similar situation here to be honest. Depending on how the show goes over the next few episodes I may well just import the singles or buy the BD Box. I wouldn't mind paying the extra money for JP Video/Audio quality, and it also sidesteps one of the major annoyances of mine when it comes to Funimation releases - that being the removal of the Japanese credits. It bugs me because the JP credits are usually pretty stylised/have their own animation (e.g. Kekkai Sensen/Gangsta/Arslan, purely from the little I'm watching this season), and Funimation does nothing to even try and replicate that.

Sad times for little old me then doing the UK release - we've got some pretty cool things planned there (already)! Watch this space anyway there and we'll hopefully hit the ball out of the park on this one :).

Glad folk are enjoying Gangsta too though - I know I am!

I never said I wouldn't buy your release ;D I like you guys too much.
I may or may not own two different copies of Bebop, DRRR, Gurren, KLK and Space Dandy...

I'm also in for double dipping on Gangsta. if there are cool things planned; I love the manga! Thank you so much for getting us a stream.

Gonna wait on the UK version. Do you think baccano will be ready for Christmas? (having a collectors edition under the tree would be really nice as most of the other shows I am planning on buying next are mainly just plain amarays)

Haha - that makes sense (and I thought I was the only one who does that xD)! Admittedly am a huge fan of packaging so I'm always curious as to how other regions manage titles...

One of the weirdest (which I love) is the Russian release of Berserk Film 1 - when faced with no extras made a box literally from wood to add a special shine! You can see it here (I also have a copy on my shelf believe it or not):

As much as I like interesting packaging, I think that's a bit too far on the weird side for me personally lol I think I'd be scared to put it on my shelves in case it damaged whatever was next to it.

The classic tale of reverse-reverse JP imports keeping the UK industry in check as usual. :p I would remain confident that your release of GANGSTA. will still do gangbustas.
