UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Fate & SAO had a "TBC" sign next to their release dates on the latest newswires so this news feels expected. The dates were kinda just placeholders weren't they though? Or am I getting muddled?

EDIT: Already posted.

Sometimes I think AL stands for always late :(
Delays are a feature of all UK indie distributors. I think it's a case of them not wanting to warehouse large amounts of stock, so setting the earliest possible date, rather than neccesarily the most realistic.

Anime Limited are no worse for delays than some of the bigger players like Arrow Films.

Yeah i agree, i think the reason why it seems like they're always delaying every release is that they've set quite a lot to be released within the next few months so some releases are bound to be pushed back whether we want them to.

Not saying they are or are not. Just saying that it seems nearly every one of their releases suffer from a delay.

At least Space Dandy seems to be on track for the date they've set :)

It emphasises the importance of Amazon pre-orders - I imagine AL could wait until the release date was 100% locked in, but getting it up earlier when things might still change means there's a wider period to gauge pre-orders over.

Personally, I don't mind the slips as long as they don't slip by too much... In fact I'd prefer to see some dates penciled in for most stuff even if the it's quite likely some of them won't be met... Even if the dates don't start out specific (e.g. list the day for releases in the next 3 months, the month for 3-6 months, the quarter for 6-18 months and 2016/2017 for stuff out past that... I mean look at all the anime limited licences in this sites anime schedule... Just getting an idea of roughly when something is likely to crop up would help massively with planning what to get when...

This is somewhat of an aside, but we know Andrew has hinted that a Gundam announcement is coming at MCM Manchester. At the time, we all assumed it was a classic Gundam series, but what if it isn't, what do we think the odds are Anime Limited has the new Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans series?

I've found quite a few of the recent delays kind of useful. I'm in a kind of transition phase where I really need to look at my spending and decide what I actually want and what I should hold off on. Also, I should probably try to watch some of the shows before committing to them. I do feel kind of strange buying something just after I've watched it since I'm likely to then hold off on watching it again for a while but I tend to accumulate a lot in my backlog anyway so I guess it doesn't make a difference.

ANdrew/Jeremy, you lot are coming to MCM Manchester right? I'm so out of the loop now.

Also, when do annoucements occur at the Cons? I've never seen, nor caught, nor heard one from afar in my life. Am I leaving before they occur??? lol.

Info on their conventions, with an anime related announcement for MCM Manchester.

I've never been to one, but I was under the impression that the announcement occurred at the company's panel, and was then made public via social media. Andrew has said there will probably be a Gundam related announcement at MCM Manchester.

We'll be having a panel on Saturday morning, so if you're in the building do come by. Though we'll make sure we have everything one our website/social channels as well should you miss them :)

Hi everyone. Just to say that our latest Newswire is up: http://blog.alltheanime.com/newswire28/
A few days later than planned, but once you read it you'll understand why.

Hmm.. makes sense that DRRx2 won't be available until next year since the second AoA part of DRRx2 Shou is out in November (Aniplex would want to be first anyway). I assume you guys are trying to create a complete set for each arc (therefore overall it's three parts instead of six) and for that to happen you would had to aim for a later release (I assume that's how it works).

Then again I don't understand why Aldnoah Zero is set for next year when the first AoA volume is this month and the other one is set for September. Perhaps there's something big for that set or there's a holdback for complete season sets since I assume you are also aiming for two parts (one for Season 1, one for Season 2).

Either way best to take your time on it, it's better to delay a set than release it early with problems (then again this doesn't translate well in Manzi/Kazi standards).

I think this is them saying they don't have the time to do it and fit all their other releases in, rather than anything contractual.

Aldnoah.Zero has been confirmed for 2 parts, DRR!!x2 hasn't got a confirmed release strategy yet.

I am sort of wondering at this stage if Anime Ltd does have the capacity to take on more shows. Obviously first and foremost I want them to take the time to get every release as perfect as it can, but at the moment it feels like they've announced loads of licenses, but the majority of them are still months, if not a year, off from actual release. And that's not even counting the stuff that will no doubt be announced between now and the end of the year.

I think I expressed this before, but I'm interested in how the timescales for the releases reflects 'we're waiting on assets/licensor approval' vs. 'this is physically how long the assets take to prepare'.

That said, maybe it's just a symptom of Anime Ltd announcing their licenses earlier than the other companies?
