UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

I actually preferred Fummoffu to S1 + S2. Great comedy. But would recommend watching the regular series as a bit of background on the characters as it makes Fummoffu even funnier.

Pity the rest of it probably won't be animated. Would really have loved to see A Dancing Very Merry Christmas get animated.

Nice to see someone who shares the same opinion as me. I tried watching the first season but I couldn't get into it. Fumoffu on the other hand was great fun and I really enjoyed watching it.
I'll go back and give the main show another go at some point as I do want to see it.

Fumoffu is my comfort anime and my favourite of the Full Metal Panic animations. When I'm down, I rewatch it and it cheers me up. Having said that, I like how FMP can handle both comedy and drama, so I'm sad we'll never see adaptations of the more dramatic later novels.

Will almost certainly get the FMP Ultimate Edition. Aldnoah was never boring but unsure on a purchase so will wait and see on that one.

I'm also in the "prefer Fumoffu" camp for Full Metal Panic but I haven't seen The Second Raid yet. I liked the first season but I found the main bad guy a mix of frustrating and unintentionally amusing (depending on my mood at the time). Basically he's pretty incompetent but ridiculously lucky so he always seems to be a threat but it never seems to be because of his ability or strategy. It's like he has the "Jinxed" trait from Fallout, he makes more critical failures but so does everyone around him (somewhat off-topic but if you do ever play Fallout/Fallout 2 I recommend trying this at least once, nothing like having a Deathclaw about to tear you apart when it accidentally falls over and breaks it's arm). Still, it wouldn't have bothered me if I didn't like the show anyway.

The Second Raid is so good.I enjoyed at lot more than the first season(though i really loved the first season). The plots more focused, the action scenes are awesome and the main antagonist is absolutely batshit insane.I Highly recommend it.

For what it's worth, I found Fumoffo utterly forgettable and quite unfunny.

But then, the entire franchise is fairly inconsistent. I thought the first FMP was sort of okay, but didn't get why so many folks had raved about it. I went from there to Fumoffo after being told it was the mutts, and nearly didn't bother at all with The Second Raid after that.

Gotta tell ya - I'm so glad I DID pick up The Second Raid. Its absolutely amazing, five star quality stuff - and it gets pretty dark as well. I'd sat through some stuff I hadn't fully clicked with, and then, suddenly, it was like being smacked over the head - as if the show was saying 'YEAH! Didn't see this coming, did ya?'

Do most people watch Full Metal Panic with the dub or sub? I've only seen the dub since it was fairly early in my anime watching career, I did like Sousuke's deadpanning but it might be interesting to see the Japanese version.

Whichever you prefer I know people who prefer the dub and others that care more for the sub.Theres no wrong answer, for me I have no problem watching the sub first as it's streaming then switching to dub when it's released.Though the only time the dubs really been a problem for me is with The World God Only Knows as certain characters have their voice actresses changed each season.just pick which one you'll think will make the show more enjoyable to you.

I was more asking out of curiosity of specifically which one people watched for FMP rather than a more general question about preference. These days I'm used to watching both, maybe not often for the same show but I've done that on occasion too.

That's interesting about The World God Only Knows though, I've seen the first season dubbed but couldn't decide if I'd continue with that or try the sub so I might well give the sub a go knowing that voices will change either way.

Stumbled across these on amazon.fr earlier:

Those are beautiful covers that's for sure! I'm not sure about those three particular titles, but what about an 'HD Anime Classics' range in the UK? You could give them spine numbers for a 'collect them all' factor.

It's by no means a major issue, but did anyone pick up KLK part 3 and find it quite difficult to get the blu-ray and book out of the part 3 box? It seems like quite a tight fit to me and has me a little worried I'll damage it whenever I pull it out...

Mangraranga mentioned the same thing here

It's a known issue. Not down to Anime Limited as the test samples they signed off were fine. They were assured the pre-sale stock wouldn't be affected.

As Mangaranga says - definitely a known issue now and we've noticed the same on the BD units in office now we're back in too.

Result is we've quarantined stock at Sony and asked for the inside case to be replaced. So if anyone else finds it hard to open (we've seen a few around) from MCM - we'll replace them using fresh stock. Means main release date is back into later June shortly probably but it's well too on the side of difficult to open to take the chance over (especially as the storage box looks amazing @_@).

On one hand i'm happy that i'll be getting a fixed release, on the other I was really looking forward to Kill la Kill part 3. I make it a habit of waiting until I have all volumes before starting a series, and the wait to start this one was oh so nearly over :'(

Thanks for the update though and all the great announcements :)
