UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Terror in Resonance is a great but flawed show. It needed more time to develop the characters and its story in my opinion. But regardless of whether you hate the show or not in the end, the soundtrack itself is flawless (even the first track, which is epic in itself, is entitled lolol of all things).

I've started an interesting discussion here it seems. I'm a big Shinichiro Watanabe fan and that's the main reason I'm interested in TiR. Hearing it has a great soundtrack makes me even more curious

Terror in Resonance is the only anime from the past few years that's hooked me into binge watching it. I think it's brilliant, though I do remember that the English is absolutely atrocious and I would've valued an audio track where it would switch to the dub VAs for those lines. The score is wonderful.

I think it really depends on how you watch stuff and what parts you value more. Things don't need to be flawless for me to be great, but I know a lot who think different. Personally I value great atmosphere and beautiful stuff quite high and in that respect the show really is high up on the upper echelons.

Back to the topic that kicked this all off, the mystery box would probably be a great idea for me as it's easier to list what I have got rather than what I haven't:

Cowboy Bebop
Your Name and Place Promised
Outlaw Star
Giovanni's Island
Anthem of the Heart
A Silent Voice
Psycho Pass the Movie
And Gurren Lagann (when Zavvi sort themselves out)

Knowing my luck I'll still get one of them!

The soundtrack is really something else.
My favourite track has to be nc 17
Did anyone among the OST likers check out the discography of Olafur Arnalds btw? Arbor Dan who sung 'von' among other tracks had collaborations with him and Olafur's music give of quite similar a vibe as the islandic touch Kanno have the OST. Some great stuff to be found there~

Small but solid selection. I have this feeling that they might add Psycho Pass 2 in that mystery box, like it stands out from my perspective.

My your name deluxe order still didn't arrive, sadly.

Sigh, meanwhile had to buy persona 3 movie 3 and 4, cause they are going OOP. I'm mostly getting these lately, almost out of print stuff.

I watched it in 2 sittings whereas I normally only watch about 3 episodes in one go!

I've heard some Olafur Arnold. In terms of Icelandic music I've got all of Björks stuff, most of múm, amiina and all of Sigur Rós (who's music inspired the creation of the series)

That would be cool, shame they haven't got season 1.
I forgot Giovanni's Island, I wasn't at home when I wrote that.

Hi folks,

Re the Mystery Box - to add to what Jeremy already said:
  • A - AL will spare our pals at MVM suffering and ship the mystery boxes so no cross contamination of flyers this year I am afraid.

  • B - I always recommend the box because it's insane value for money. You're paying £5.72 a set and if you own it already, why not gift it to a friend who likes anime for Christmas in worst case? I actually put the idea together as a way for you to weight the odds of getting something you'd all not tried before and a way of sorting several anime loving friends out ideally with a really cool gift :).
  • C - It's not a loot box, we curate this stuff and don't just jam it with things that aren't selling. You'll see yourselves if you get one but yeah, we work hard on these to make sure you're buying things we actually like too :).
Hope you all enjoy anyway if that's your thing :)! We like the mystery element anyway - can't wait for you to find what we liked in there - recommendations from the whole team inside :).

Best,

Andrew

Rest assured I'll be getting one, it'll make for a fun unboxing come December 25th ;)

Interested as to what the "something extra" will be as well.

That was just a joke on my part but thanks for chiming in :). As you said, If you get a duplicate copy or an anime you don't necessarily want you can always gift it to someone ;)

@cyborg 002 - The exclusion of international customers was probably put in to stop reverse importing to the US (they’ve got a couple of Aniplex titles after all)? Maybe that happened during their first sale, because I was able to buy something during that sale.

So Exclude The US. There is not reason to exclude every european nation because of reverse import to the US.

Realistically it probably has to do with the fact that they're already barely breaking even (they might even be losing money) on these sales, adding on the cost of international shipping would hurt them even more since the international rate is fixed regardless of how many items you add to your order.

I don't know anything about fixed shipping rates, but that may explain it, if this is the case.

Anime Limited barely breaking even, is that realy a fact? I know anime is a niche market and not a market to venture into if you want to become a millionaire, but they have to make money somehow to keep the boat floating.

Why make these sales if they are losing money and barely braking even to begin with? This makes no sense.

Honestly I'd also suspect the issue is much simpler: International shipping.
UK shipping costs are somewhat insane. Even if companies may get better fees than what is listed on Royal Mail's (or whatever other delivery company), which I repeat, is just pretty crazy by comparison, I can imagine it to hurt when the price is low already. Then more importantly add all the infame the delivery companies get for getting stuff destroyed on transport, which, as a commercial company they are liable to get replaced or refunded. That can become a big big big headache on both sides.

Shipping costs are insane everywhere. I can forget about shipping anything outside my own country. I collect comic books aswell as anime and those oversized hardcovers cost way to much for even people in the EU to pay for shipping and if I have to cover shipping it would be like giving away my comics for free, the shipping rates simply eat up any profit.
