HG has 16mm film elements that can be used for a restoration and they can also request HD masters of Mospeada from Tatsunoko as that is not a Big West backed show. But yeah, there's a pretty big chance it will be an upscale.

I doubt HG will have gone back to the elements TBH, but you never know. Either way, it's not going to be anywhere near the JP Macross release.

You have to wonder at this point, how much $$$ are the Japanese losing out on by allowing HG to continue this ridiculous charade. HG claim that western releases of Macross II and Macross Plus only happened because they "took their eye off the ball" - BS, if HG thought they had a hope in hell of successfully laying claim to them then they would have been all over them.

HG are blood-sucking parasites that the world can't see the demise of quick enough, and to keep this OT, they are the very antithesis of Anime Limited.

It's getting a collector's edition, but it will prob be just a fixed version of FUNi's where the art cards actually go inside the box!

since apart a few minor scenes lost (don't know if they were returned in the movies as part of the extra scenes) it was a great adaptation with powerful voice acting, and a powerful soundtrack.

I could not get into the anime. I'll have to give it a rewatch when the bluray is released and see if it changes my mind.
