UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Just got back from watching Your Name. absolutely wonderful film. so glad I got to see it in the cinema. With all the different elements of the film it could have easily ended up a big mess. The fact it pulled it off it testament to excellent story telling. AL pretty much can take my money for the UE. The soundtrack is great as well.

I wonder how quickly they'll be allowed to put a DVD / Blu-Ray of Your Name out? Guess it depends on whether the cinema run gets extended beyond just this week.

I believe Andrew has already said the delay is huge for both PPV and DVD/BD. I think October was the specific month he gave.

To be fair, I'm sure Andrew would go for something much shorter if he could convince the production committee to go for it.

Apparently they would rather not take my money now, whilst Your Name is fresh in my mind.

Yes so unlike DBZRF this has nothing to do with the Cinema release

Also unlike DBZ the amount of time we took to bring you this is super short. We brought it to the big screen under 3 months after Japanese theatrical, which took a whole lot of effort and planning to pull off so even if we'd have to keep a theatrical window on this, we'd be done by March.

As the film is performing well (still) in Japan too - even their homevideo will be later than normal so please stick with us. October is the tentative month but right now we have a holdback to follow and are negotiating best we can to keep that minimal - pre-orders will also go up as soon as possible so stay tuned so at least you can lock in a pre-order sooner :).

You say that, but not everyone was able to get to a screening and there are still no screenings in the entirety of Gloucestershire. Given the quite frankly ridiculous amount of hype AL and others have placed on the film (and are continuing to do so after the bulk of it's theatrical run has passed), I'm not sure you can blame people for being upset/disappointed they're going to have to wait ages to see it legally.

I've genuinely muted AL's RTs, because I'm fed up of hearing about how amazing this film is and not being able to get to a screening.

My local cinema is already booking for Yu-Gi-Oh! though (despite not doing DBZRF), so maybe next time...

I think Your Name is def a movie I'd grab a really nice set for. It was a really beautiful movie, but please tell me the subtitle glitching will be fixed for the home release. Since it was very noticeable while watching the film

Due to our release being so close to the original Japanese, I wonder if it's a case of any potential cinema hold-backs being negligible due to the licensor's own? For example, the two periods wouldn't stack, but run concurrently - with the cinema's expiring before the licensor's?

Hopefully Anime Limited can negotiate that period down as low as reasonably possible, but I can see why reverse importation would be a much bigger fear here than usual.

I didn't have this at all (I saw it at BFI though). Is it widespread or a problem with the particular cinema's setup?
