UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Oh, I misunderstood. I thought they were planning on selling them in UK cases because they had problems getting stores to sell US cases or something. Fair enough.

No. They're supposed to be in US cases, they were accidentally put in UK cases (which will not fit the CE), so now they need to be swapped, and they've had to delay it to swap them.

Sad that there is no movie in the Eden of the east set. Might still pick it up for the book, sounds interesting and I like the show.

One thing, why do you use the dub in your trailer instead of the Japanese audio? EotE is a show that should not be seen dubbed. At least not in English as the language barrier between Japanese and English was part of the fun in the first episode if I recall correctly.

Aren't all anime that are dubbed given dubbed trailers for their western BD/DVD releases? I mean, yes of course there may be perfect justification to not do so with regards to language barriers but trailers also need to draw in attention and showing a dub will do more to attract the attention of the UK's local market than a sub-only trailer. Plus, it may make people think a dub doesn't exist at all and then potentially put them off.

Sorry if I came of as rude. I have nothing against dubs in general, and I was just wondering.

When I think about it, your right a lot of trailers are dubbed.
Its understandable they would like to draw as much attention as possible yes.

No don't worry, you didn't seem rude at all. Apologies if my response sounded blunt, was just countering your point etc. No need to say sorry!

I think if they want to release a old manga title again it should be a DVD only one as I doubt Eden will be a success
I'm all for the re-release of old titles that had PAL DVDs on blu-ray; if AL can do more of those, like their Noein and Baccano, that'd be great. It just seems a waste of their limited resources to re-release titles like Eden of the East that have been available relatively recently as cheap blu-rays.

I think it's kinda scummy to take a cheap standard edition out of print and immediately replace it with an expensive and incomplete collector's edition.

It would be a shame if this were to become a regular practice. If the EotE CE doesn't sell another 1000 units, a standard edition BD may never be available in the UK again...

I don't understand why AL would release a Standard Edition of the Eden of the East series. For those that want a cheaper version, you can still get it:

Amazon.co.uk: Buying Choices: Eden Of The East [Blu-ray]

To be honest, I don't even think it was a worthwhile show for them to pick up. I found it to be pretty good, but its not something I'd double dip for. Especially without the movies. The series on its own really doesn't have a satisfying end.

As for the actual UK releases of this, Manga pretty much drowned the shops with EotE to the point of it having little value. I imagine most people in the UK interested in this show have picked it up already.
