UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

I know I've seen it. But if I get annoyed over losing stuff because I like the OP. I like the HD OP (thats FUNis problem). Nisekoi is weird must be cos s1 didn't sell well.
Free took 7.5 months from US to UK lets see if we can get LS faster.

Just compare it to the Place Promised delay, everything will seem speedy in comparison!

(Done in jest! I'm happy we're getting it at all).

I watched the Free ES one 5 times.
The Monogatari ones countless. I watch most of them. It's a shame it's lost but not a deal breaker I would just like a new placeholder date.

Losing those two extras is worth it for the high quality LE packaging in my book.

That's about all you'll be getting since it looks like funimation screwed up good and proper with the video on the BD version as I looked at the screenshots from the Japanese release and they look nothing like the US release as I've never seen so many jagged character outlines in my life, and even after doing some off camera (that video is from my own youtube channel) tests of forcing the player into 1080i 60Hz (which is what that release should be running at and not 1080p 60Hz) and 720p 60Hz doesn't correct anything and I think I summed it up in a nutshell that the DVD version has better video quality upscaled to 1080p then the BD version has.

You can also call me an ass for buying a cheap ass LCD TV, but that's your prerogative.

Know it's only August but wondering if there'll be another Sunrise event for MCM October. Next Origin isn't out until November so given the hype maybe something Love Live related?

I'm not sure if it was confirmed but I think Brothers Conflict is now going to be one of the Funimation releases. They've done a Limited Edition version, so I guess we'll get that (there was a comment that the plan was for any Funimation LE releases to be replicated, I think that's still the case).

On a related note, am I right in thinking that the only Funimation title coming out between now and the end of September is the second part of Assassination Classroom? Just want to make sure that I'm not missing something.

All the Anime Podcast #16 - 21st August 2016

Fun fact: The last major podcast was apparently back in March 2016.

'More date changes in the works'

22nd August - Perfect Blue Blu-ray Steelbook Zavvi Exclusive
5th September - Samurai Flamenco Part 2 Blu-ray Collector's Edition
12th September - Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad DVD 'nothing to say on Blu-ray as it stands'
26th September - Assassination Classroom Season 1 Part 2 Blu-ray and DVD (formats separately, Funi title); Free! Eternal Summer Blu-ray Collector's Edition & DVD Standard Edition.
Early Q4 (hopefully) for Funi titles Gonna Be the Twin-Tail, No Rin and Fairy Tail Part 10

Release Date page coming to the website.

Empire of Corpses now TBC due to situation beyond their control, hopefully end of September.

Hint coming up soon. 'secret project' = still in motion. Jeremy is currently QC'ing it.

Your Lie in April musical instrument question. Andrew plays a flute. Keith = Bongo beat on his stomach. Jeremy = Some Metallica songs in Bass Guitar.

Consideration to bring Rumiko Takahashi works (Ranma person) here to the UK. Andrew loves to but can't. Some kind of blockage.

Gunbuster Blu-ray? Music rights not cleared internationally.

4K Ultra Blu-ray, anime moving to that direction? Anime is still doing done at a low resolution (720). Belladonna of Sadness is the only 4K (Grav note: BLAME! and Knight of Sidonia are getting HDR through Netflix).

Strike Witches Movie question. Theatrical unlikely. Andrew thinks Manga will pick it up.

Attack on Titan Junior High - Hopefully this year.

Gangsta. - Held back by waiting for the Japanese video. France used the simulcast video materials. AL is waiting on Funi.

Mamoru Oshii films - Good chunk are already released. Andrew loved to. Never say never but not on his live-actions.

Overlord - On the document for a Funi UK title. ;_;

Turn A Gundam Blu-ray - Yes, It's because of Anime Ltd that a Blu-ray version would happen. Q1 2017, same as US for target. Blu-ray only for Turn-A. Double Zeta also Blu-ray only.

Pokemon show - Manga should be the ones getting them.

Slayers TV - MVM already has them.

Why is it taking so long for Gundam? - Trying out release for France with Zeta and ZZ. Turn A was Blu-ray stuff.

Sailor Moon license? - Never say never, may not be Anime Limited.

Fav anime from this season - Andrew: Berserk 2016 (not a fan of the OP sequence). Doesn't do manga justice but not terrible (Grav note: pretty much my opinion).

Jeremy: Love Live! Sunshine, JoJo DIA, Re:ZERO, Mob Psycho 100 (is behind on the latter three)

Jeremy is also watching Amanchu!

Keith: Not watching any from this season.

Black Butler: Book of Circus and Durarara!!x2 Ten in process. Belladonna of Sadness and Momotaro in process.

Belladonna of Sadness and Momotaro will be at SLA.

He does say that Viz Media Europe has Europe-wide rights to Rinne, hence that, at least, probably already has a UK home.

I don't think this is public knowledge, and it's definitely not listed on their website, so I don't know if @anime_andrew was supposed to tell us that.

(Although, I've probably just made it worse. Sorry Andrew. :()

Don't apologise, I could be entirely wrong there but the Viz Europe website makes it hard for me to prove alas! Could easily be wrong as well there as they list it in press releases but it's nowhere on the group website so chalk it up to me likely talking rubbish!

Won't be that long, realistically you're looking at latest of early December, depending how long packaging takes. You have to keep in mind we designed the packaging for 3 discs not 4 meaning:

A) Approvals from Japan for image changes.
B) New packaging quotes are needed as the digipack grows (an mild argument for using amarays in a rigid btw as that problem doesn't occur so often).
C) When (B) is done we have to wait for (A) to complete before we can send to print. Add a good chunk of time to printing.

It's very sadly not a small operation but we took it knowing it's the right thing to do for the fans :).

Very best,

AP

Gunbuster, <sob>, it's almost criminal that we can't get that...:(

Ranma/Sailor Moon - I've got the Viz's Ranma SEs, they're near-perfect, doubt I'd double-dip on those. Sailor Moon, again got the CEs, but the transfer for the first two seasons looks like ass, so would definitely pick that up if we could get the better transfer.

Turn A - congratulations, and thanks - I really wanted this one on BD. Nearly tempted by the DVDs a few times, so glad we're getting it in HD. :)

In the podcast they said the "secret project" had rumblings on the net. Can someone PM the speculated title? :)

Going through my release list of titles I'm interested in, I presume this means Yona of the Dawn, Claymore, Aldnoah Zero are all delayed until at least October.
