UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

Thanks for the comprehensive list. They've picked up quite a bit more than I first expected. Out of all of the ones that are left to find a home in the UK I'd love to see any of these:
  • The Big O - Blu-ray would be amazing.
  • Fantastic Children - Never got a Blu-ray release in Japan but a DVD set would be awesome.
  • House of Five Leaves - Likewise
  • Tatami Galaxy - ^
  • Planetes - Blu-ray set would be sweet.
If I had to pick one, it'd be The Big O for sure with House of Five Leaves and Tatami Galaxy being lowest in the pecking order.

EDIT: I missed ..alot
Don't worry about it, I appreciate the help :)

I'd love the following to be rescued (& on BD, if possible)

■ The Big O *Licensed by Sentai in US*
■ House of Five Leaves *Licensed by NIS America in US*
■ Lucky Star & Lucky Star OVA *Licensed by Funimation in US*
■ Planetes
■ (The) Tatami Galaxy *Licensed by Funimation in US but aren't bothering to release for retail*
■ Wolf's Rain

I'm a big fan of Tatami & Five Leaves.
Lucky Star is a classic & I'd love to upgrade my DVD version.
I missed out on Wolf's Rain & Planetes. I started collecting a few months before their Bebop release, neither title was appealing at the time & by the time I heard about how good both shows are meant to be, it was too late, so both have been on my watch list for years.
We only ever got the first season of Big O didn't we? I have the DVD but it finishes on a one cour but there is more & I could never find it all those years ago.

I'd LOVE the original Gunbuster, yet I'm not holding out for it thanks to those licensing issues that have been mentioned. Such a shame cause it's one of my top shows :(

I'd love a Luck Star rescue. Haven't seen it but it looks like something I'd enjoy.

I could lend my DVD set (It's the Beez release) to you if you want to watch it? I trust you enough to send it back so totally willing if you ever fancy giving the show a go :D

I'd part with internal organs for a decent release of Gunbuster.*

I'd also love to see Tatami and The Big O brought back to the UK. The Big O is FANTASTIC!

*NOTE: Not saying they'd be mine.

Next year is a busy one for Anime Limited but the title that I'm most looking forward to next year is Ping Pong, will support that title for sure. I hope that it does well and that more titles like it see the light of day in the UK. Best Anime Limited acquisition since Bebop and Perfect Blue :)

Seconded. Hopefully, it can lead to The Tatami Galaxy, Kaiba, and Kemonozume all getting picked up. :p (unlikely)

Indeed. The complete works of Masaaki Yuasa under the AL banner would be a wonder to behold

Someone on MAL asked me about the current status for the Gundam Collector's Box.

I told him to try Amazon anyway considering they may have stock left (otherwise it would have said 'out of stock' or 'more on the way' etc.) but I'm curious to know what the current status is for this particular edition. I know Anime Limited's warehouse is empty and as such their online store is sold out.

Only one print run has been done for Volume 1, and every one of that print run has the collectors box. Everything out there in the wild will have the box until AL announce that a second print run sans box is happening.

Every copy that AL had produced has been allocated to various stores/suppliers, they have nothing to hand themselves.

Spot on - Amazon is your best bet and honestly hard to tell when they will be out and onto the single Amaray SKU now so the sooner you grab it the better really!

Has it occurred to you that that's probably why they killed it'?

It wouldn't be the first time. Back when KLK Part 1 was still on pre order, they dropped it to around £12 for some reason, not sure if it was a glitch or what, but some time after they just mass cancelled all the orders. Pretty crappy thing to do.

No, it's not. £12 is clearly a mistake. Acceptance is almost certainly not established until dispatch (especially since Zavvi has made much bigger errors than that before), so legally they're well within their rights to do so.

No it hasn't occurred to me because 1.) The order wasn't a crazy price, it was £28.99 (compared to £34.99 on Amazon) and I'm fine paying more (have an order on amazon UK in fact for a few quid more) and anecdotal but on Zavvi I've have much more 'subject' and suspicious orders where the price was an obvious error that they honored without any issue and 2.) As far as I can tell, Ping Pong doesn't even exist on the Zavvi site anymore and in fact I don't think it has for a while so something was always up with that dumb **** website. It's not like I'm upset, like I said, happy paying more and the price wasn't anything crazy so if Zavvi cancelled the orders because they were afraid I was trying to pull a fast one on them then lol. The same company that sent people Tearaway Vita bundles when people ordered Tearaway and then threatened said people if they didn't return the devices.

I've ordered items, and then received them after they disappeared from the site, I wouldn't necessarily consider that to be a problem in it's own right. Although that was an insane price on the Star Trek TOS boxset.

Well, it's not much different from some of the stealing techniques I've heard people try at supermarkets.

It's £28.99 on AnimeLimited's store if you wanted to order it from there: http://shop.alltheanime.com/products/pi ... rs-edition

AL's store does take payment when you place the order though.

I guess one reason why Zavvi took the listing down is there's no confirmed date for it to be released, Q1 2016 is the date AL have up.
