UK Anime Distributor Anime Limited Discussion Thread

I'm fine with DVD or SDBD for things that will never be HD. I object to AI upscaling out of principle; a big part of the appeal of anime is the fact that people drew it and put their artistry into it. The results of AI upscaling, in my view, are no longer those artists' original work but a usually inferior facsimile of it. I can accept it to restore previously cut scenes or other such things where bits of an original are no longer available, but I don't think it should ever be used for an entire work.
I've done some ai upscales of old dvd anime & series that aren't out on Blu-ray.

A lot of early stuff is fairly awful when you're not using a player that tidies it up and I don't think the artists original vision involved interlacing, jitters, ghosting or compression artifacts that plague a lot of older dvds.

It's time consuming & requires a few passes... 3 is the base for me with the first pass tuned for deinterlacing & fixing frame pacing/ghosting with no upscale then upscaling with a focus on compression artifacting.

I then watch the result to see if there's any big issues anywhere, timestamp them, redo those parts manually & cut in if need be.

I'm not doing it to a professional standard but even then there's clear improvements.
A lot of people try to recover detail that was never really there, over-sharpen & DNR it like mad.
Less is more when upscaling.

Anyone else still waiting for their Xmas order to ship? Raise your hand! 🤪
No movement on my last outstanding one from 7th
What surprised me is that they actually posted an order on the 23rd that I placed on the 20th / last day. So again, not seeing the logic in the process.

If I could add a sub-query; has anyone had anything sent out since they got back this year (2nd+)?

I've a stuck parcel from AL too. It left the UK on the 19th of December and still hasn't appeared in An Posts system for customs payment. Will be chasing it up with them next week if there's still no movement.

orders marked as shipped didnt even send and some not fullied yet come on u been open 2 days make some effort even a fb post alltheanime will give them to end of month or bank chargeback itt will have to be

Same here, I will give it a couple more weeks before raising a dispute via PayPal considering it will be likely they won't bother responding to emails as their customer service is absolute crap these days
They still haven't responded to an email I sent at the beginning of December. I don't understand how a company can behave like this. Even the worst companies I have dealt with would have sent out at least a stock "we have received your email" response by this point.

Well it has been just over 3 weeks since I placed my order so I'll give it another week before I raise a fuss. Anime Limited CS--if you're reading this, I'll take a copy of Nadia as consolation for the long wait time since I was indisposed during the (short) time it was on sale. ;)
