With OVA you mean the episode mostly listed as Episode 0, which takes place 2 years before the anime ? Anyways the Sentai set of Beyond the Boundary also has this episode.

Yes I'm referring to Episode 0. The OVA is exclusive to the Collector's Edition version on Sentai's release.

It might be worth mentioning that Black Bullet and Beyond the Boundary have mixed up details on the Hanabee site:

Release Date: 12/11/2015
Product Code: HB0179 / 80
Barcode: 9346315007442 / 459

They can't have the same EANs so it is possible that the episode count is wrong for one of them also.

Akame ga Kill! Collector's Edition details (pretty much the exact same as Sentai's):

We are happy to announce that our upcoming release of the smash-hit anime series, Akame ga Kill! Part 1 will be receiving a deluxe collector's edition!

The collector's edition will include:

Tattoos

Poster
3 DVD Discs
2 Blu-ray Discs
Rigid Outer Box

ABOUT AKAME GA KILL!
When he set off for the Capital, all Tatsumi wanted was a way to make money. Instead, he finds himself rescued from a fate worse than death by a group of assassins known as Night Raid, and thrust into the middle of a bloody revolution. On the one side: Prime Minister Honest, his secret police, elite squad of assassins, and the armies of the Empire. On the other: Night Raid and a handful of rebels desperate to overthrow the brutal regime of Honest's puppet emperor. Leveling the playing field: the Imperial Arms, a legendary set of unstoppable weapons created in the distant past. But to use an Imperial Arm is practically a death sentence, for only a select few can even survive using them… and when two Arms go against each other, only the user of one is likely to survive in AKAME GA KILL!

Later this week we will be interviewing Manga and Animatsu's Marketing Manager, Andrew Hewson, who will be sharing more on Akame ga Kill's UK release with us.

It depends on the price for me. It's not the best show in the world, and only the booklet is of interest to me, but I have a feeling the price will be insane (£60-80) at which point they can just take a long walk off a short cliff...

The US release is around £69.99 on UP1USA so my guess is that the UK release will be at minimum £59.99 SRP.

And let's not forget the fact that Jerome wants a wrap-around so everything except the disc covers* will be the same.

*The difference will be the addition of a BBFC logo.

Yeah. No. 12 episodes, a booklet and a tonne of crap I neither want nor need for £60+, I'm out.

Will they be releasing a standard edition or will we not get one when the heart attack priced special doesn't sell too well? This is a weird show to be going all out on. I get why Sentai have, but I think Animatsu may end up regretting this.

In all honesty, if it is £59.99 RRP then you'll likely be able to get it for around £40-£45 from amazon, which is on par with some of the pricier AL releases.

That would be more reasonable. Don't know if I'd definitely go for it at that price, purely because I'm not a huge fan of the show, but I could definitely be tempted.

Do people actually want stuff like posters, stickers and bloody tattoos? As much as I'd like to support collectors editions, I probably won't be buying this.

Even accepting that these prices are pure speculation at this point:

Even a price of £45 for this package, considering it's 12 episodes, wouldn't feel reasonable to me. Like a few other posters in this thread, I'm not even remotely impressed by or interested in fancy pack-in extras.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think we've had confirmation that all that will be available is the collector's edition (part 1) - if those extras are things you don't care for, nor do you want a hardcover booklet, then you can settle with the standard collection blu-ray that I assume will be coming also.

I really wish they'd stop using the phrase "deluxe collector's edition". All it makes me think of are those ****** releases they've put out which had nothing but a slipbox yet were marketed the same way. Now back to the topic at hand...

If Jerome wants to test the water for limited editions, I'm not convinced this is the one to do it with. Akame isn't really a good show and I feel it has little to no rewatch value to it. There's also the fact that there's little here to actually add value. I don't know about other people, but I don't generally tend to appreciate a thick DVD sized packaged with DVDs and other tat thrown in as extras. All you end up with is a box of crap that takes up far too much room. I'd be semi interested if it was a slimmer BD sized box with the artbook.

EDIT: It's also got a dub courtesy of Sentai Filmworks, so it's not like I'd be buying and rewatching it dubbed either.

That Akame set looks fantastic (though I don't care for the Tattoos, Sticker or Poster) ..Wish I liked the show to purchase, however I do hope the set does very well :)

I had no idea they got that licence.
It was one of the first titles they announced. There was pretty much nothing more said about it until Manchester.

Wonder why it took them so long to actually put it out. IIRC Gatchaman Crowds was their first release and the fact that both titles were announced simultaneously yet one is going to be out about a year after the other is very odd.

Akame was only part way through its home video run in Japan when Mangamatsu announced it (V4 of 8 would have just been released). The last BD volume was released at the end of May, and generally there's an absolute minimum of at least 6 months holdback. Akame didn't sell well either so it may well be longer - I'd imagine Sentai put it on Toonami in the meantime to promote it.
