Hataraku Maou-sama ep 3. Looks like the comedy is being pushed aside as they take the series down a different path.
Oregairu ep 3. This series is starting to grow on me for some reason, maybe because the characters roles are being defined more.

Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom episodes 5-13

Does improve as it goes along, around the midpoint changes to a slightly different show, though less keen on the change in one of the main characters.

Finished The World God Only Knows series 2. Series 3 has not been made yet (I'll watch it on Crunchyroll when it's available) so I'll move on to something else. Rumbling Hearts probably.

Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet - Episode 3

Valvrave the Liberator - Episode 3

I'm really enjoying Gargantia but I think Valvrave is absolutely fantastic.

Rebuild of Evangelion 3.33: You Can [Not] Redo

Very good and takes a very interesting direction, it will be fascinating to see how this ends. I liked the Ghibli short, I didn't think it was actually that special but it had a uniquely Japanese feel to it.

Devil Survivor 2 - Episode 4
Toaru Kagaku no Railgun - Episode 3

And finally, the one I've been wait for a long time now:
Evangelion 3.33: You Can (Not) Redo

I have literally no idea what I just watched but it was awesome. The first half was pretty much just
everyone hating Shinji for the Third Impact
though.
If you're looking for a lot of action like the previous two films though, then you will probably be disappointed with this one. It also felt a little less like Evangelion, maybe because we skip ahead 14 sodding years before the film even starts.
I do wonder why they went from animating full screen to having black bars on the top and bottom (Like Berserk). Maybe the Budget's running dry ;)
I suppose it did give it more of a theatrical feel.

Finished Bamboo Blade. Quite an enjoyable series that I would recommend for a first timer.
Finished long termer Lucky Star. Loved all the Haruhi and Manga/Anime references.
Oreigaru ep 4. This is really becoming a great Anime for me as I'm liking the way how they are dealing with situations that don't involve the main cast.
Also checking out Rozen Maiden as it's MVM deal of the week. Could be worth £10 but I'll see what the later episodes bring.

Heh, I actually thought it was pretty neat that they framed Evangelion 3.33 at 2.35:1. I do wish that more anime movies were framed in scope, I like my wide aspect ratios.

Anyway, Evangelion 3.33 : You Can (Not) Redo.

I can see this film being very divisive. WARNING! SPOILERS FOLLOW.

The time skip was unexpected to say the least, the whole "curse of Eva" conveniently keeping Asuka 14 years old physically was bulls*** though :p . I found the way it dealt with the repercussions of the ending of the last movie quite interesting. The tone of 3.33 was pretty much unremittingly bleak though, which made it tough to watch at times. I didn't like the way Misato acted to Shinji either, considering she was encouraging him at the end of the last one, but maybe the guilt of doing that was the reason for her coldness. Was so glad that Asuka was as fiery as ever at least, though Mari was just...there I guess. I also really liked the way they worked in Rei III/Q/Whatever to the rebuild story. The Kaworu/Shinji stuff felt a bit more developed compared to the series (though it's been like a decade since I saw it), though his plan to get Shinji back into the Eva at the end really was rubbish. "We'll take both those lances from Lilith because that will totally work out fine!!!"

That's probably my main complaint with the movie really, too much stuff seemed to happen as a result of not communicating, which would lead to stupid decisions. Especially at the beginning when Rei III/Q/whatever took Shinji back to NERV from the Wunder. TVTropes sums it up nicely here, definitely a case of Right Hand versus Left Hand. Having said that, it's set things up very nicely for the final film, which I hope will resolve everything well to make Rebuild the definitive telling of the story. I'm starting to subscribe more and more to the theory that Rebuild is a sequel to End of Evangelion too.

The action sequences were absolutely first rate, both the Wunder's battle near the beginning and the final battle were absolutely jaw dropping. The visuals all the way looked first rate, really added to the oppressive and alienating feel of the movie. Music was excellent as ever too, glad to hear Ode to Joy making a comeback too (I'll forever associate it with Eva and Die Hard ;) ).

On the whole, I thought it wasn't quite as good as Evangelion 2.22, but it was still a bold and brilliant movie in its own right. I certainly hope the 4th and final movie comes out soon, the wait for it is going to feel so long!
