Well yeah, Sound of the Sky and Strike Witches both rely heavily on character archtypes...but geez, the similarities are so obvious to me now. 'tis a shame, as I really love Sound of the Sky.

So I take it a "Why no trousers?" explanation is given in season 2 then? As I heard no mention of it in season 1.
 
If I was guessing (and, in fairness, Lawro knows a fair bit about the workings behind SW, so he could have read it from an official source/doujin/novel), I would attribute it to "fanwank", as I don't remember it being mentioned in the anime at all.

Although it's made awkward in the west when a fair few of the characters are below the legal age xD

It's like when I was watching Evangelion 1.11 and we see Rei topless...then moments later we're reminded that she's 14 and I'm like:

EDIT: Looking at Wikipedia, just over half of the Strike Witches cast is of-age anyway. It's only Yoshika, Lynette, Perrine, Lucchini, Ella and Sanya who aren't "legal" by UK standards - so the hotter ones are legal.
*sigh of relief* I can continue being a Barkhorn fan with no regrets.

i liked the fan service but i think the style of the animation great.............. it has that old fashion style of drawing from past japan * cant remember which era* for the background, i liked how the ink effect was used too

Okay, Kyosuke deserved some serious awesome points for episode 3.

It's starting to bug me jut how much Kyosuke is doing for Kirino. Y'know, making everyone think he's a pervert into incest just to cover for her! WAY above the call of duty and so far, she isn't showing any signs of giving a damn!
