Black Rock Shooter Episode 3-4

Oh god i think this is the funniest show I've seen in a while. maybe its just cynicism but lol that school councilor lady is such a MAD TROLL. The CG they are using is quite impressive but the lack of visual flare in the 2D segments kinda drags the show down a bit cause while the designs are diffrent than usual the movements look very stiff and the characters dont seem very expressive as a result. nevertheless i'll keep watchin it for the MAD TROLLIN that be goin on

Last night A Friend challenged me after She mentioned something on twitter about it, and that was to re-watch Beyblade again of all things!

Watched Episodes 1-11 though technically I had it on as background noise only, all I have to say is it's quite funny that every new challenger that our heroes face seems to be Undefeated everytime???

I, er, think you may have missed the underlying emotional tone to a certain degree.
Nope, i definitely see the underlying emotional tone i just find it more entertaining for me to see it as a teacher trolling her students with hilarious results. the face yomi made near the end of ep 4 was hilarious after kagari told her she basically didnt remember or need her had me rolling on the floor laughing. It's an awesome show i'm just enjoying it in a diffrent way than you are :p

Tried doing the same thing last year and couldn't do it. I felt like my face was gonna fall off i was cringing so much

What, by depicting unfairness, disappointment and betrayal? It's been a long time since I watched Planetes so I can't recall the specific episodes, but I don't remember feeling any of it was overly melodramatic (I don't think I've ever found any story too bitter).

It's that arc where Hachi decides to train for the Jupiter mission. Until that point it seemed like the show was about finding little moments of humanity in a cold, technological world, so I didn't find the sudden switch to having a lengthy arc about how much Hachi hates everyone particularly welcome.

I wouldn't even have minded so much if it hadn't been for that half-baked terrorism sub-plot. They didn't even have the conviction to follow through on it and kill off anyone who really mattered.

I just went back and watched these episodes, because I couldn't really remember much at all. How about instead thinking of it as "a lengthy arc about how Hachi does what he wants to do rather than what others want or expect of him"? His attitude isn't entirely justified, but it is understandable. From the little psychology I know, I'd say he appears to be going through both both identity and intimacy vs. isolation crises. I liked it at any rate, it seemed to deepen his character and give you more of an idea of what he was about.

Mobile Suit Gundam AGE - Episode 20

A really good episode if a little cliched at times and finally the appearance of the masked newtype antagonist in a red mobile suit - AGE couldn't be more of a soppy love letter to First Gundam if it tried sometimes!!!

Rinne no Lagrange - Episode 8

I'm really enjoying Lagrange now, the plot and characters are developing in quite an entertaining and interesting direction.

Chrono Crusade: Episodes 13-16.

Oooh getting near the Crunch zone now. From memory, it's about this region of the show where it about faces from something rather whimsical early on and definately monster of the week, to something far darker, stronger and memorable.

I look forward to seeing your feelings/feedback when you finish the show!

I think I've already got a bit of sense with that with some of the backstory, but by the sounds of things it should be good.

I've just watched the episode on Anime on Demand. I must admit that the series is getting better, especially with this episode and the information it revealed.

Oh man. Oh man! Props for admitting it, at least :p

House of Five Leaves 4-8

My one reservation about the first three episodes was that the characters hadn't given me too much. I'm pleased to report that this is no longer an issue. I love the characters and their interactions and how I, through the conflicted perspective of Masa, have learnt why those characters are doing what they're doing. Morality isn't black and white in House of Five Leaves.

I just wish the show were on Blu-ray. The gorgeous backgrounds deserve the hi-def treatment.

Yeah, much as I can understand their trying to give the story more focus as it nears the end, that last arc of Planetes had a bitterness about it that did the series no favours.

I don't think it was melodramatic, but everyone's being a jerk for little to no reason. I mean Chen Shin (not sure how to spell his name, I've only heard it since I watch the dub) all of a sudden gets all rapey and it's like "what the hell is wrong with you!? I thought you were the white knight character? Hachi being a tool I can understand but he's turned incredibly cold, I feel like he's lost all previous character development.

Claire is also being a right bitch, getting all self-righteous about third world countries; a valid point, but considering who she is and the fact she's perpetuating it too seems incredibly hypocritical, not least because iirc she was the one who was totally against helping that guy from her own country in the beginning.

Ragrafsgdhd rant rant.

Emboldened are accurate depictions of much of humanity. :p

Chen Shin always struck me as a bit of a smarmy git anyway (especially so in the English dub) so I wasn't particularly surprised when he showed his darker/overly entitled side. Although to a certain degree equally selfish, I guess I found Hachi's actions believable because nothing he did seemed without motive. Yes he seemed a little different but hey, people change. I guess the juxtaposition of Chen Shin and Hachi with each other (and anger at each other's attitudes) was to illustrate how people come to value different things at different times in their lives, and that what people value at any one point isn't necessarily what they used to, nor is it forever. Self-evident points perhaps, but not something you see depicted all that often.
