The Little Mermaid (1989, Disney) - I picked this up on Blu-ray from CEX recently, and really enjoyed rewatching it again, I also find it interesting that the mermaid kingdom is relatively lowkey even in the royal mermaid palace - yes it's nice but you don't really get the impression that they spend all their time enjoying maximally fancy and opulent things, and though obviously in the meta sense Ariel is a "collector" and that feeds into the whole Disney merchandising empire thing, she has found her collection by salvaging discarded things that interest her, rather than buying lots of new things, as others have observed she's basically kind of like an archaeologist in terms of what she's passionate about, I liked this aspect of the film and feel it's often overlooked as there is a lot to analyze in the film and the original Hans Christian Andersen story from feminist perspectives, queer perspectives and so on :)

Harvey (1950) - WTF did I just watch... I loved it! Its message and the way it plays with one's perception of reality are both pleasingly unorthodox for a lighthearted Hollywood comedy film from this era, I watched this with my best friend and we both kept half-jokingly saying it's the Matrix of its time and we need to ask the Wachowski sisters about it one day if we get the chance! As a neurodivergent person with mental health issues, I really appreciated this movie and am glad I finally got around to watching it, one of those fun old classics that I'd recommend to anyone :)

(Still watching GTO as well, will try and say something a bit more substantial when I've finished the whole series which will be in one or two weeks probably) :)

Like previous seasons it delves into problems of modern Japanese society through using humour and Retsuko finding herself in odd situations. This seasons final arch found her in the most outlandish yet.
Also as with previous seasons I enjoyed it a lot, but can't give it more than a 7. Possibly due to its shorter length or the more simplistic art and animation.

I took my grandsons to see Puss in Boots on Saturday and I have to say I really enjoyed it!!!
 
Aggretsuko S5 E1 and 2

It's finally here, the greatest furry anime (that I know of) has returned and so far it's really good, as expected; also I noticed a poster for A Clockwork Orange in Haida's apartment which is cool because that's one of my favourite Kubrick films, alongside Full Metal Jacket.
 
Fuse, Memoirs of the hunter girl: I enjoyed the story and old Tokyo/Edo looked gorgeous. I did wonder at the sanity of a city made of wood and paper putting on summer fireworks just after rebuilding from the whole place being burned down. We never learn, eh?
