Grand Blue Dreaming episode 12 (Complete. Lewd and sometimes hilarious, other times not so much. Whenever they actually did some diving it did so quite well. Not the best comedy this season but it did have some of the best set-ups, my favourite being how the gang kept intruding someone’s traitorous private time.) 3.5/5
Muhyo & Roji’s Bureau of Supernatural Investigations episode 9 Genuinely pretty eerie. Reminded me of the first episode, shame more of the series hasn’t been like this.
Crimes of Passion (Film) A sexually charged thriller that depicts the darkest aspects of the life of a prostitute known as China Blue (Kathleen Turner) The film is executed effectively by Director Ken Russell Who doesn’t shy away from humanising the leads and showcasing just how depressing and meaningless it can all be.
Another memorable aspect was Anthony Perkins Who turns in another signature creepy role as a twisted and perverse priest who becomes unhealthily infactuated with the lead. I digged the Rick Wakeman score as well, since I’m a sucker for synths. 4/5
Day of Anger (Film) Renowned for being one of the finest Spaghetti Westerns, this is a story that focuses just as much (if not more) on the teacher-pupil Bond between leads Talby (Lee Van Cleef) and Scott (Giuliano Genma) than it does on gunslinging action.
The main story here is Scott’s rise from a dirty outfit and street sweeping, with all the town looking down on him, to him taking in Talby’s teachings and becoming a certified badass who takes revenge on those who wronged him before.
It’s not a perfect film by any means, the secondary cast are generic and the film feels a bit long, but Scott is a fairly developed character with nuance and the ending is great. 3.5/5
