These are my two most recent 'what did you watch?' posts:

After watching the first 4 episodes of the El Hazard OVA, I'm struggling a little to find the motivation required to keep going. It's a decent 7/10 type series that's watchable but far from amazing. Although it's silly series by nature, stuff such as seeing a priestess wear a mini-skirt and a huge amount of fan service (lots of naked boobies) being forced down my throat isn't doing anything for me. Instead of El Hazard being an amusing world switching comedy it's a perverse show aimed at people who want to laugh and fap at the same time.

I'm getting tired of the amount of pervertedness, 13 year old humour and teenage casts that ruin what could be great series. I'm not the 14 year old I was when I started watching anime and these issues are starting to push me away from something I once loved. It really is like searching for a needle in a hay stack when it comes to looking for top quality series that aren't aimed at brats, perverts or complete idiots.

Anyway... I'm now going to give my first X DVD a spin in order to attempt to understand why I dropped a very highly rated series not long after I first started watching anime. I'm hoping whatever bothered me the first time around won't matter this time.

If there's one certainty in life it's that I'll always manage to find something to moan about. :D

El Hazard would've been great if the focus had been 100% on adventure/comedy and not bathhouse perversion and a priestess with a skirt that's slightly too short for a holy woman to be wearing. I actually like the other aspects of the show, the scenes with Jinnai (I'm pretty sure his and Lelouch's voice actor are one and the same) and his bug followers easily being the most amusing.

I've watched 5/8 of my X DVD's over the last few days. It's very good series that fans of fighting series involving psychics would feel right at home with. I can see why I dropped it years ago but I think it was a mistake, the series deserving around a 8/10 rating in my holy opinion.

What lets the series down is sluggish pacing, unexplained plot elements (why does Kamui exist and how do people have supernatural abilities in the first place!?), hinted homosexuality (damn CLAMP...), lots of female characters that look like males and an annoying amount of flashbacks. However, none of those flaws ruin my enjoyment, they simply stop it being a series that's good enough to enter my top 10.

In the past like... 18 hours or so I've watched:
All 12 episodes of YYH which I had left to watch on my friends boxset.
3 episodes of Xam'd
Finished Memories only had Cannon Fodder left
Finished Nurse Witch Komugi-chan
Watched 5 episodes of Eureka Seven

I've been finishing everything that's needed to be done a long time ago.

Also, I think I'm going to die. x_x

Started rewatching Stand Alone Complex earlier on the new tv. 1~ just watching it on a screen different to my pc screen is very nice! 2~ On the new bigger tv...it looks awwwwesome!

Finished of Mezzo, it has been a while since I enjoyed an action series so much.

Tweeny Witches Vol 3. Nice simple series. Feels like it is aimed at younger kids but some of the themes are quite dark.

Naruto Uncut Box Set 9. Not bad. A little drawn out but not as much as some previous seasons. Although not much gets tidied up.

Code Geass Vol 1. Have to say I was a little worried whether I was going to enjoy this as it is a mecha show. However fears have been averted as it is a mecha show in the same way as FMP.

Simoun Volume 5. I was a little disappointed with it at the end after the story had been strong throughout.

Mezzo is really good, have you seen mezzo forte as well?
The action bit of it is amazing, it does have it's dodgy bits though.

Not seen Mezzo Forte yet.

Code Geass Volume 2. Still a good start to the series really enjoying it. Although my disc did freeze a couple of times for a second or two  but it is not unwatchable.

Gundam ZZ 28-42

Okay, so Chara came back, wearing some kind of bondage gear and carrying a whip, and it's been made pretty clear that her "problem" is in fact Nymphomania.

Did this happen when others watched or have I finally cracked and slid into my own personal fantasy world?

Double Post Time! (I couldn't wait, and had to finish it) Gundam ZZ 43-End

An ending with sad and happy moments but I did particularly like seeing that Kamille and Fah live happily ever after and one fairly dubious bit of Deus Ex Machina, though thankfully not too relevant to the overall story. Gundam Double Zeta gets 9.5 out of 10 - I'm sure the majority of people who hate it must have abandoned it after the first few eps. Expect a proper review within the next few days.

Macross Frontier eps 20 and 21.

Gotta be said, with the mix of Music, Mecha's and love triangles, it's rapidly becoming my favorite mecha show of all time.

Plus any company that's happy to vary from the routine "1 opening and end theme for a set duration of episodes" has my blessing too.

it has a sexed up version and a cutted version. You don't want to have your mother / sister /girlfriend on the living room if your watching the uncut version though...

The porn in the uncut version is so mind bogglingly random. Out of the two scenes neither of them have any effect on the story and are completely inconsequential in fact I'd go as far as saying they lower the quality and appeal of an otherwise well animated and entertaining hour of fast paced action anime.

Get the edited version if you can.
