Heavy Object - Episode 01
20 minutes of set-up and 3:40 of stupid pointless crap the show could do without. I think there was more plot in the preceding 7 second FUNimation logo than there was in the actual show, and the dialogue between the Qwenthur and Havia was clunky as all hell. It's weird because they spend almost an entire episode just on back story and the actual set-up is way less complicated than the show thinks it is and could quite adequately have been summed up in a 30 second VO.

It does however give off a lot of potential, and I'd maybe suggest people wait and see what the reaction to future episodes is before deciding whether or not to watch it, if they're currently on the fence about it. The show's designs are great, even if the Objects themselves are a bit bland looking, and there's some great CGI integration in there too.

I was slightly put off by was the ambiguous prologue at the end that basically comes from nowhere, where Qwenthur and Havia are walking in the mountains and they're randomly attacked by objects, is that supposed to actually have happened currently or is that a flashforward to something that's about to happen? It kinda came across like somebody realised that the entire episode was full of set-up and added it in a last minute panic to get people to come back for the second episode.

Also, that's a hell of a long and quite frankly stupid set up for an out of place and not very funny breast fondling joke. Just stop perving on women and actually do some bloody sci-fi. I'm told Index and Railgun were killer for this as well, but if they don't tone it down or make it a hell of a lot less clunky, I may be out.

Fairy Tail season 2 episode 78 - Really liking the new opening, but it spoils so much up-coming stuff! I don't mind as I read the manga weekly, but been watching the series with a friend of mine and it really does spoil a lot for her. Liking Gray's Devil Slayer magic, looking forward to actually seeing it in next episode.

Young Black Jack episode 1 - Pretty good opening episode. I've never read or watched Black Jack before so this felt like a good place to start. Looking forward to more! :D

Actually, I Am ep 13 (complete). I was disappointed that the romance didn't progress further, it looked so promising and they wimped out at the end as we see so often in this type of show. For me that took some of the shine off what is otherwise a fantastic series.

The iDOLM@STER: Cinderella Girls s2 ep 11. Predictable, especially for anyone who has seen the original series as this is retreading a lot of the same storylines.

Young Black Jack ep 1. A very promising start. There are all kinds of interesting themes being explored here, and mixing those in with the 1960's civil rights movements and having the Vietnam war in the background could make for a truly fascinating series.

Seraph of the End -Vampire Reign- (Japanese audio) - Episodes 02-04

This show went from serious to high school with an amusing purple/pink(ish)-haired girl. In fact the plot reminds me of Blue Exorcist quite a bit.

Still it's keeping me amused to continue.

It's a bit scattershot, it doesn't stick around at the high school for too long either.

Lupin III: Part 3 - ep6

Was tempted to go straight in at the point where the old fansubs ended, but I went back to this Jigen-centric one first, as I remember liking it a lot the first time round. It's not quite as sharp as I remembered, but Jigen's encounter with his old mercenary war buddy comes across like a hammy '80s action movie condensed into 20 minutes, and I am completely onboard for that. With a little expansion, I think this might have been a decent feature-length special.

Today I watched:

Hunter x Hunter (2011) episodes 28-30
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders episodes 4-6
Fate/kaleid Liner Prism Illya episode 7-10
Noragami Aragoto episode 1
Heavy Object episode 1
Asterisk War episode 1
The Devil is a Part-timer episodes 1-4
Utawarerumono episode 1
Young Black Jack episode 1

I hope to finish The Devil is a Part-timer tomorrow.

Mawaru Penguindrum Episodes 1-4
Can you believe that I've owned the entire series on DVD since Kazé first released it, but I've never watched them? I'm admittedly mixed on the series before; mainly because the repetition does get really tiring, but I've heard good things, so I'll keep at it for now.

Snow White With The Red Hair Episodes 1-2
I finally decided to watch a series on Viewster (not sure why I've avoided it until now - oh wait, the ads). I have to say, I found these first two episodes rather charming. I definitely want to watch more, but I hope Warner isn't planning a Jojo-style home video release over here...

Charlotte-Episodes 12 and 13

Episode 12: No idea why I put off these last two episodes for so long. Episode 12 felt like a natural stopping point, even if the show could have ended at 10, but the show still has one more episode to go. No idea what they're going to do with 13. Time leap I'm guessing.

Episode 13: I guessed wrong. Anyway, that was a nice ending, although the episode was quite unnecessary. Probably would have been better if they just condensed this episode and stuck it in as an epilogue to episode 12. Oh well. I enjoyed this show overall. Not perfect but consistently entertaining at least. Solid 8/10.

With that, that's all my Summer shows done, barring Gate which I dropped. Now my currently watching list is looking very quiet. Until all the Autumn shows start up :p

Today so far...

MSG Iron Blooded Orphans episode 1
Attack on Titan Junior High episode 1
Dragon Ball Super episode 13
Comet Lucifer episode 1 - i REALLY enjoyed this first episode!

i shall be going to see DBZ RF at the Vue cinema in Stratford City Westfields laters on today.

The Heroic Legend of Arslan (Japanese audio) - Episodes 16-19
Seraph of the End -Vampire Reign- (Japanese audio) - Episodes 05-08

That bit in Seraph where the vampires were like 'Oh ****' when they see Yu giving them the death stare - just entertains me.
