Space Cobra - Episodes 5 - 8 (out of 31) (1982)
So I watched the next four episodes of Space Cobra and man this show is fantastic. These episodes had the perfect balance of comedy, drama, action and tragedy and I'm hard-pressed finding any flaws at all. First things first, the art-style continues to impress in typical Dezaki fashion. As with all of Dezaki's series, Hirokata Takahashi takes care of the cinematography here and and it's very apparent. Many different camera angles are used in order to manipulate the viewers sense of space and orientation and a great sense of lighting is used in order to add atmosphere to each and every frame. The visuals are amazing.

Character designs are something I don't talk about too much but Akio Sugino does a fantastic job designing characters that you care about. They grab your attention from the first moment you lay your eyes upon them. The girls look voluptuous and beautiful while the villains are all inspired and visually interesting and menacing outside of the grunts who are cannon fodder but still even they have great moments as they get pulverized by the man named Cobra. Akio Sugino is without a doubt one of my favorite character designers of all time and Cobra reminds me just why I feel that way. Legend of the Galactic Heroes? He did the character designs. Black Jack? Cat's Eye? Ashita no Joe? Rose of Versailles? Add Space Cobra to that list.
Kentaro Haneda composes the score here yet again, and man what a stunner it is. A delight for the ears. A phenomenal pianist and a genius, his soundtrack doesn't disappoint. And as I've stated a few times, the OP and ED are probably the greatest out there. The voice of Youko Maeno sends shivers down my spine each and every time I hear it. Truly in love.
Each of these four episodes had me laughing at Cobra's antics helped by his charming and lovable voice. Nachi Nozawa did a fantastic job with the voice. Tears were also shed and really the show is just amazing and I really can't get enough. And of course, each episode has ample action. The whole thing really does remind me of City Hunter
I really can't wait to watch more. The one thing I don't like about Space Cobra is it's almost too good.

Just chiming in to say that I think one of my favourite sakuga grace notes for the show was somewhere around this part. There's a scene during Cobra's confrontation with Crystal Bowie where he drops his cigar as he's dodging out of the way of a laser blast, only to catch it in his mouth before it hits the floor. Doesn't add anything huge to the scene, but I always thought that was just a really cool little detail for them to add in.

Prison School - Episode 06

I nearly gagged at the cake scene. Seriously, just use a plate, and did the joke under the bed go as far as I think it did?! On second thoughts, no idea why I'm asking that question, it almost certainly did...

Ushio and Tora - Episode 06

I may have joked about Castle Town Dandelion, but this episode of Ushio and Tora explicitly paints domestic abuse as a good thing, and then proceeds to have the victim use it as some kind of moral lesson for another child...

I never thought I'd say this, but that Ushio and Tora episode was more offensive and arguably more damaging to society than Prison School...

Nadia: Secret of Blue Water ep 25-28.

SHIMONETA: A Boring World Where the Concept of Dirty Jokes Doesn't Exist ep 5. Sweet Jesus, those 'love nectar' biscuits

Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ - Episodes 40 - 43 (Blu-ray)

A slightly disappointing set of episodes after a run of really good ones and Tomino has brought back a few too many of the elements that spoiled the first dozen or so episodes, and Chara had Judau motor boating her breasts.......again!

Prison School (Japanese Dub) - Episode 06
Darker Than Black (English Dub) - Episode 16-22

Re: Prison School.
While everyone is shocked about the cake munching or the mouse pad or even the stick in the ass. I'm more shocked that Nezu managed to throw Meiko out of the way by grabbing both of her huge melons and pushing her like it was nothing, I guess you just shouldn't mess with ants then. Maybe Nezu should be Ant-Man.

It takes serious guts to make your protagonist that evil, and then try and wrap it all up in some sugar-coated ending less than 5 minutes later, but are they really just going to pretend that never happened next week?

Hunter x Hunter-Episode 68

I didn't expect an episode where Killua and Gon react to Hisoka's junk but here we are. Also, Bisky is too cute.

This was the first episode of Anime I've watched since Wednesday. I've been busy for the last few days between A Level results and starting my new job and stuff. I don't know if it's just me but when I come home from work and I'm tired I just cannot be bothered with subtitles. Anyway, this means I am behind on every currently airing show now besides Non Non Biyori, so tomorrow I'm going to have a big catch up binge session, chucking in a few episodes of Hunter x Hunter along the way.

Durarara!!x2 - Episode 19
And Durarara!!x2 firmly cements it's winning streak, with it's best episode so far.

It also starts to reinsert the element that's seemingly been missing for a while, dark comedy. Whilst the original takes several fairly dark moments from the light novel and plays them more overtly for laughs (Erica and Walker in particular come across as way more psychopathic in the first light novel), x2 seems to have mostly been playing them straight, and I wonder whether the newly unfiltered bleakness is what has been making it seem stodgy and boring.
