I enjoyed the film when I watched it. That said, I remember not really liking the twist, I didn't think it really added anything. In retrospect, I suppose it maybe means a bit more seeing Hal learn what he was really like from a more objective standpoint, rather than being burdened by the bias of actually being himself, and then having to live with that. Still, I thought the story about the way we tend to have an idealised image of people once they've passed away was also interesting and it is somewhat undermined by the twist. I did kind of like the way that some of the "clues" worked (the scenes with Hal in the chair and the careful wording of what they asked the robot at the start, for example).

I was also slightly bothered by a few other things. The robot sinks into some water but since it presumably can't drown it seems kind of odd to just leave it at that. I get that it's symbolic of Hal finally having to accept his loss but you'd think someone would eventually salvage the robot (or it'd get out on it's own). I suppose there was limited run time and all but it wouldn't have hurt to have some sort of closure for the robot's story. Even if it just turned out that it went back to work as usual, although in some ways that'd feel like another potential storyline lost (that of the robot becoming "human" or at least learning what they can be like).

I'll have to get around to watching it again to see what I think.

Even after watching the film twice, I still can't quite get my head around the twist and the technicalities of how it actually works.

Gundam Seed-Episode 46 and 47

I really wanted to finish this today but I'm feeling really unmotivated to. I may just leave the last 3 for tomorrow...

Same I got up to episode 41 and it has just really burnt me out.Ive never really had this problem with of 50 ep shows before though.

Don't get me wrong, I like it, I just feel like it's becoming more of a chore and I don't really know why. Maybe trying to watch 5 episodes every day was pushing it a bit. This is why I tend to stay away from long shows and why I am taking so long to watch Gintama. I'm only on about 85 of 200+ and I'm already burned out. I watch one or two episodes every couple of weeks with that.

The Beautiful Thing about Gintama is after the first half of the season your already introduced to a lot of the cast, because of this it's easy to move onto random arcs and still be able to tell who everyone is and what's happening.Best thing to do imo is to watch an arc after you finish another show and before you start on a new one.Thats what I do anyways :D

Diebuster Episodes 3-6 - Complete.

I've had this on hold since finishing episode 2 for months, maybe over a year? I just wasn't feeling where the show was going (I started the show after finishing Gunbuster, which I fell in love with! Sadly in doing so, the difference in tone within the first two episodes of Diebuster switched me off) then a few hours ago I suddenly had the urge to continue and wow, I'm glad I did! The tone edited, keeping what made it "Diebuster" but going back to the roots of what I adored in the first series... The relevance! the references! that ending! I had some tears in these eyes when I realized what was happening.

Now debating if I should take Love Lab off hold considering I am half way through...

I came back from a 5 day break in the Lake District today, so I had some anime to catch up on! (namely, the latest episodes of Food Wars, School-Live! and Monster Musume).

After having binge-read volumes 1-4 of the manga after watching the first episode last week, I'm admittedly concerned about Monster Musume. While other anime adaptations in the same genre undergo censorship, the way it's been handled here makes me wonder whether the home video versions will include what other home video releases in this genre usually include (shall we say), because unlike something rather like steam being used to obscure "some parts" of the screen, it looked like scenes were drawn with the intention of not making them anywhere near as explicit as the manga?

School-Live's second episode was absolutely fantastic though; I especially loved the scene where the zombies were "playing football" - it was so eerie! The contrast between comedy and suspense was also pulled off wonderfully - the library scene in particular was nerve-wracking!
I'll definitely have to check out the manga though - from what I hear, a fair bit has been changed?

And Food Wars was Food Wars.

I also watched the first episode of the original Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters. I enjoyed it from a nostalgia perspective but man, the pacing was unbelievably awful - even more unbelievable than how serious all the characters were taking a children's card game :p. So glad to finally have it available in its original language though.

GANGSTA - Episode 3
GOD EATER - Episode 1
Norogami - Episodes 1 & 2

I very much enjoyed the first two episodes of Norogami. I just love everything about the show so far, from the (Japanese) voice cast, to the music and even the characters themselves. Very interested to see where this one goes - especially since I hear it strays from the source material.

Prison School e.1 - I thought this was excellent, and has a lot of potential to explore some serious social issues. I'm not yet 100% convinced it will, but certainly I'll carry on watching to see how it goes. The light censorship was kind of weird and ironic, but I guess that's its own discussion. I picked up the first volume of the manga after watching it, and it really does do an impressive job of sticking to the source material.

It made me laugh so much that her name is Rory - it sounds like someone out of a British soap or something (and it's also a boy's name?!)

I did wonder if it was supposed to be a pun on her being a loli, as in, loli sounds like rory when you spell it phonetically in Japanese.
