Hibike! Euphonium e.13 - I didn't know if they had anywhere left to go after the pinpoint emotional balance of episode 11. There was no need to worry.

The tension (and the tension-breaking moments) in the build up to the concert, the magnificent final performance, and even the end result (Asuka's reaction to which deserves a special mention) all added up to a triumphant final episode. I thought the easier and more succinct ending would have been to leave the audience guessing, but instead it was completely correct to allow the audience to celebrate along with the band. The rendition of the OP played during the end credit sequence was also a delight.

I was in love with this show from the first moment to the last - another from this season just finished that I would be happy to see come back for a second round, but not in any way one that needs it.

Watched Up to episode 8 of Kill la Kill. Really starting to grow on me tbh, especially the character of Ryuko. Great music and tbh, the fan service isn't getting to me too much and I can usually look past it.

Kekkai Sensen (Blood Blockade Battlefront) - Episodes 2 - 4
Sword Art Online II - Episodes 1 - 3 (DUB)
Nisekoi: - Episode 12
Gangsta - Episode 1

Is The Order a Rabbit?-Episode 1

One episode and I already know this show is great. It is a little more fan service-y than I initially expected. In the first episode alone there were 2 underwear scenes, a bath scene and a bunny girl outfit. Overall though, I really like it.

Gundam Seed (Dub)-Episode 1

Not entirely convinced by this yet. This episode really didn't feel like a first episode and as much as I enjoyed the action, I would have much preferred if they waited an episode or two and had some exposition. I have no idea who the Zaft corporation are, why they're fighting the earth, why they are bad or what the Bloody Valentine incident is. The characters also don't get any introduction to speak of and are just kind of there. I didn't know why anyone in the episode was doing anything and this made it not an entirely enjoyable experience. The dub also seems not fantastic. Considering watching the episode again with the Japanese instead and see if I prefer that.

SEED, like a lot of Gundam, does rely on a lot of exposition - so you kind of have to stick with a lot of the 'what are they talking about' stuff at times - SEED is definitely easier to get into than a lot of the other Gundam series though, it really kicks into gear in the 2nd and 3rd discs as some of the more interesting characters are introduced.

Kill la Kill - Episodes 5 & 6

**** son, it's Wez from The Road Warrior.

The series is certainly beginning to grow on me, albeit very slowly. That said, episode 6 was an ill-paced mess, jamming what should have been an entire arc, weaved throughout the show, into 20 minutes.

Knights of Sidonia: Battle for Planet Nine - Episodes 11 & 12 [Final]

Maybe not as ground breaking as the first series but still really compelling stuff, roll on series 3!

Zegapain - Episode 17 (Blu-ray)

Welcome to Gundam!

This is basically how Gundam shows - and a lot of other mecha titles - play out. You'll need to give it a good 5 or 6 episodes before you have a clear idea of who is who and what the status quo is. Which, for a 50 episode show (or, you could say 100, if you lump in Destiny) isn't really too unreasonable. Everything's doled out in time.

I know that it will probably come in time but I thought it was a little strange that the first episode didn't explain a lot. Glad to know that it wasn't just me missing a whole bunch :p

Gate - ep 1

Now that's how you kickstart a show (and the new season!) - seriously loved this, it's smart, funny and has an ace soundtrack to boot. I just hope it manages to stay this decent through it's run, as it's a brilliant starting premise. Plays out almost like a blend of Log Horizon meets Full Metal Panic.

You could properly do deeper into it too as a piece of political commentary too, or how it seems like it's basically a drive to get otaku to join the JSDF.

Gate-Episode 1

A good, fun first episode. Looking forward to more.

I also watched the first episode of Gundam Seed again, this time in Japanese. I liked it more, so I'll be proceeding with the Japanese version although I still had the same issues with it. One problem I did notice on rewatch was I also have no real idea who is on what side. Both sides are humans and their uniforms seem to differ even on the same side. For example, near the end of episode one, 3 people get inside 3 Gundams and I'm not sure if they were enemies highjacking them or not. I think they were but I'm honestly not 100% sure.

Gundam Seed-Episode 2

I liked this one a bit more. I still only have half a clue what is actually happening but I kinda just went with it. A lot of good action.

I will say re. GATE though - it's pure weeabo-bait through and through - I can see people despising this as they do Sword Art Online for its self-awareness.

That said, I do like that the main character is an adult, and not your typical milque-toast anime teen.
