Blood Blockade Battlefront ep4

Didn't enjoy this one quite as much as the previous installment - not sure how it compares with the manga for pacing, but I felt the confrontation at the end would have been more dramatic if they'd given more time to it. It would also have been nice if they'd given the vampires a little more characterisation.

Over the last week (episode or 2 a night, with the remaining episodes this morning). Interesting series

Witchblade episodes 1 to 6 (currently in process)

City Hunter (Episode 13 to 16)

City Hunter: Episode 13 to 16
So my journey into City Hunter continues, with episodes 13 all the way to 21, but I’ll just write about the first 4 for now!

Episode 13 deals with a 15 year old pop idol that is being targeted by an unhinged fan. Ryo comes in to be her bodyguard, only to be mistaken as her lover by her fans that turn their attention to beating the crap out of him. What makes matters worse; she ends up actually falling in love with him! Unfortunately Ryo has to play along in order to make the man after her jealous to lure him out and take him out. It’s another funny episode, with Ryo digging himself deeper and deeper with every move being misunderstood by the girl he’s protecting.

In Episode 14, Saeko lures Ryo into doing another job for her, yet again promising something special for him if he does so. Apparently a bunch of girls are being kidnapped and she wants Ryo to get to the bottom of it. Due to staying at Saeko’s house overnight, Kaori wants him dead but needs to proof before she can beat his ass. With a funny twist at the end, this is another very enjoyable episode.

Episode 15 is a very cute one and demonstrates the other side to City Hunter. A man saves a girl from kidnapers as a kid and ever since that day she has stayed away from men, waiting to only meet that man again. The man in question happens to look a lot like Ryo! So of course he’s hired in order to protect her once again, playing the role of her teacher, she becomes flustered and nervous as she wonders if he really was the man who saved her all those years ago as Ryo plays the role of her charming but unknowing teacher. Episode 15 is a very cute episode, one which shows just how strong and diverse the cast is.

Ryo has to look after a very cute, but innocent friend of Kaori’s in Episode 16. An air-hostess named Chiemi who is way too nice to all of her guests, she becomes the center of attention of a syndicate after her bag becomes home to a bunch of valuable and dangerous items they want back. It’s Ryo’s job to help protect her whilst also trying to get on a date with the very pretty girl who ends up having more baggage then he bargained for.

Overall four very good episodes that had me clamoring for more. City Hunter has been a joy to watch this far, making me genuinely laugh and care for its cast from the first moment I laid my eyes on them to the very end.

Baby Steps s2 ep 5. Rafael Nadal better watch his back because Eiichiro is getting better at a crazy rate :p .

Fate/stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works s4 ep 5. This series is starting to get back up to speed now, but I still struggle to give a damn about any of the characters.

Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet OVA 1-2. The first OVA was a typical throw-away story which you would expect from OVAs, but the second was probably a better episode than any from the main series. It was completely fascinating to watch the religious fervour take over the fleet so quickly and completely, and the story was just so well told that I was completely absorbed into it. This would certainly have been worthy of a place in the main series, between episodes 11 and 12 most likely.

Ghost in the Shell: Arise - Alternative Architecture ep 4. I'm struggling to keep up with what is going on here, mostly because of the week-long delay between each episode. Would be better as a boxset.

Plastic Memories ep 5. This whole episode just annoyed me in so many ways. The way it tried to make out R Security to be some kind of 'bad guys' was completely flawed as in the flashback with
Michiru's father the security people were right to want to gun down the android, which hurt people because the recovery woman (the redhead, I forget her name) got in the way. And she's getting in their way again which has led to a child nearly being killed. How is any viewer supposed to take these recovery people seriously or have any sympathy for their viewpoint when they are a bunch of naive, bumbling fools. And why would a black market merchant steal an android which is nearing Zombie Time and then get beaten up because he didn't take any precautions, are we supposed to believe he was some kind of amateur? And don't even get me started on all the other questions raised by this terrible excuse for a storyline.
All credibility this series had built up with me in the past four episodes has been utterly destroyed by this complete car crash of an episode, and the more I think about it the more agitated I'm getting.

The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan ep 5. The storyline is focusing on Nagato again, and has returned to it's usual dull monotony as a result.

The Heroic Legend of Arslan ep 5. Roy Mustang didn't last long. :p Still the best series this season imo, and looks like it will get even better every week.

So i've been actually keeping up to date with a couple of the new seasons so far.

Dungeon girl pick-up starring boob ribbon 1-5 - While most of my thoughts on it are on the podcast(you should check it out btw) i'm still enjoying this, probably more than i should, but there we go. It doesn't do anything particularly special, it's not filled with the most enticing characters either, but it's perfectly functional, enjoyable and still gives a decent laugh now and then. I could see it getting better later on to when the rest of the main cast get introduced, but hey.

Seraph of the End 1-5 - This is....an odd one. I was being told that "this will be the next big thing after Attack on Titan". After 5 episodes? Ehhhhh, it's missing something. The first episode wasn't engaging enough at all, it had none of the power AoT had. It's got a decently paced start-up, but it's not really giving me much to go "Wow" honestly. A keeper still, just not to the extent i've been told. Not surprising though to be honest

I'm still to catch up with Arslan, but it's probably my other keeper of this season without a doubt. Ore Monogatari might be one i check out soon too.

I haven't seen the fifth episode of Seraph of the End yet, but I'm much higher on it that Arby is. I think it has shown a great energy so far, is humorous without needing "jokes", and has a bunch of lore questions that I'm anxious to know the answer to.

I'm surprised people had hyped it up as "the next big thing" in the same way as AoT, because it does not come across as something that would have such universal appeal (it's far more entrenched in its shounen roots, which is saying something since AoT itself is not lacking in that area), but the direct influences of that series are obvious.

Fate Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works episode 17.
Blood Blockade Battlefront episode 5.
Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? episodes 1-4.

Mobile Suit Z Gundam - Episode 50 [Final] (Blu-ray)

An awesome series and still my favourite.

Busou Shinki - Episode 1

And now for some light hearted fluff!
