Love, Death and Robots vol. 4
Can't Stop
Strings attached.
A marionette version of the Red Hot Chili Peppers perform Can't Stop "live". It's very weird to see one form of animation animating another form! I'm pretty sure it's computer animated because some of the moves pulled just wouldn't work with puppets and the faces and instrument playing definitely are. Obviously the music is great, but not sure why they bothered doing it!?

Close Encounters of the Mini Kind
Probe!
What it says on the tin, aliens visit Earth and chaos ensues. Looked like another computer animated short aping a different form of animation, this time miniatures and stop motion.
It was quite crude and LOL worthy in many places. Going through the other seasons, probably by the same people who did Night of the Mini Dead.

Spider Rose
More machine now than woman.
First realistic CG style of this batch. A woman alone in space is plotting revenge when a trade offer is made to her. Didn't go quite the way I expected, but it did end with the twist that I predicted.

400 Boys
The harder they fall.
Gangs in a post-apocalyptic(?) city are being wiped out, so they must band together to fight a common enemy. Firsty 2D animation of this batch, although all the characters are heavily stylised in an angular fashion with lots of black and white with the city bathed in orange.

The Other Large Thing
Feline fine!
A cat with big ideas is introduced to a helper bot by his owners, chaos ensues. Very Pixar-ish looking.

Golgotha
Don't **** up!
Aliens visit earth to meet a special dolphin! And it's one man's job to be the emissary for the human race. Live action with the aliens, obviously, the only (CG) animated element.

The Screaming of the Tyrannosaur
Are you not entertained!?
Gladiatorial games, held above Jupiter, with dinosaurs!! Realistic looking, but with an ever so slightly cartoony-ish feel, I was thinking Arcane like, but I would say, looking at images, that's the other way around cartoony with a realistic tinge.

How Zeke Got Religion
Unholy experience.
WWII set horror where a highly effective bomber crew is sent on a mission to bomb an unusual target.
Another 2D one, not as stylised as the other one, but still quite unique.

Smart Appliances, Stupid Owners
Follow the instructions.
A lot like Creature Comforts by Aardman Animations except with inanimate objects.

For He Can Creep
Cat got your tongue.
Set in 18th century London, the devil has an offer for a poet, but the poets cat isn't so sure.
3D animation by Polygon Pictures that looks like cell shaded art rotoscoped over live action.

Pretty solid season apart from the first one, although I would say nothing stood out in a WTF way with the story or a wow way with the animation like the previous ones. If I were to pick a favourite or two, I would say the more comedic ones of Mini Kind and The Other Big One were mine. Tyrannosaur was pretty cool and Zeke was interesting, but I wouldn't necessarily say I need more.

Kowloon Generic Romance ep3-4

This seems to have solidified more now; there’s a stronger sense of conflict creeping into it and the main thrust of what the story is about has begun to look clearer. It’s a pleasingly unusual series with a strong sense of atmosphere, but even if this is cut down from the manga, I think it could still stand to be a bit pacier - it doesn’t strike me as there being an awful lot at stake in it somehow. Just give me an analogue for Brigitte Lin cutting about in a blonde wig and looking mysterious, I’ll be happy.

Arknights: U Takes Terra ep1-2

It’ll mean absolutely nothing to anyone who hasn’t played Arknights, but this short gag series is surprisingly good fun. It’s not as out there, but bringing in the director of Pop Team Epic seems like the right choice.

Only Yesterday and Weathering With You (rewatch, both English dubbed) - still great films, can't think of much new to say about them, rewatched with someone who recently came back into my life but I've now concluded is not really a good person to have in it sadly - ah well! :)

Princess Tutu COMPLETE (REWATCH, English subbed) - First full viewing on Blu-ray (previously watched on DVD several times), this series holds up really well, a sincere heartfelt story about defying destiny, where the characters refuse to do what the storyteller wants. I love Duck/Ahiru so much as well, she's one of my favourite heroines. I think if this series has any flaw, it's that many of the characters and the series' overall... vibe? Seem perhaps slightly too dispassionate prior to the finale. It's not that the actor's performances are bad by any stretch, I just felt that it was a bit overdone, but I get that they were trying to build a certain kind of atmosphere and I do credit them for managing to do that. I think that's part of why I liked Duck so much, because she was always full of emotion in a world that was often somewhat cold. Great show, would def recommend :)

Is the Order a Rabbit? Season 1 COMPLETE (sort-of-rewatch, English subbed) - This is my first time properly paying attention to every episode as I watched this, and it is very funny and cute, with a bit more bite to it's humour than some other CGDCT shows, but without being horribly mean-spirited. I will definitely be watching the rest :)

Hunter X Hunter Episodes 89-148 COMPLETE (2011, English dubbed) - I wish more shonen action series put this much effort into their characters and storytelling! The chimera ant arc ended up being much better than I'd initially anticipated, and the election arc was a good way to end the journey :)
