Rebuild of Evangelion 1.11
Rebuild of Evangelion 2.22
Rebuild of Evangelion 3.33
Rebuild of Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0
I finally managed to carve out a day so that I could marathon the Rebuild films. This was my 3rd watch of the first 3 films and my first re-watch of the final film. I do really like these films, but then I do really like the TV series and I do really like The End of Evangelion as well, and IMHO the Rebuild films don't supplant the TV continuity but just provide an alternative outcome on the basic premise of Evangelion's core story. While I think the Rebuild films lack some of the really good action and character dynamics between Misato and Ritsuko from the TV series, I like the way these films add texture the world around the characters, portray the events of an impact happening and, for me at least, bring Shinji's and Gendo's story to a very satisfactory conclusion. Interestingly, watching them back to back like this, is that I found the 4th film a bit overlong this time round compared to when I watched it in isolation when it was originally released a few years ago, the ~100 minute runtime of the first 3 films was perfect for the chunk of story being told and as such made the additional 50 minutes in the final film feel rather excessive. Upon reflection, I think they could have easily lost 20-30 out of the final act and improved the pacing and impact of the finale.
Macross 7: The Galaxy Is Calling Me
First watch of this ahead of reviewing it on the next mecha podcast.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Episodes 8 - 20
So far this is as good as I remembered it being, it's a very well written show and really holds my attention but I have noticed this time that the animation on the whole is actually rather basic but it doesn't detract from the show.
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX - Episode 6
I liked this episode a lot and it has pacified some of my gripes from last week!
The Guyver (Live Action Film)
Ever since I saw The Guyver was getting a 4k release I've wanted to add it to my collection, and when I saw the set at a price too good to be missed a few weeks ago it had to picked it up. I haven't seen the film since the mid - late 90's (when it was called Mutronics) and it was the first film I saw Mark Hamill in that wasn't a Star Wars film

. In the nearly 30 years since I last saw it I still think it's silly cheesy fun and I did have a lot of fun watching it again.
