The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash complete series: ordered this from Malaysia and, immediately after, it appeared as a pre-order on HMV. Didn't mean to watch it all in one go, but it was entertaining. Another one of those series which seems to end "just as the real story is about to begin".

I sometimes wonder if the person who created slimes for video game cannon fodder gets royalties for the use of their creation.

Two good episodes in a row? I'm going to be paying for this later 😥

Übel Blatt ep1: Hurrah, an actual dark fantasy show with stakes and motivations and betrayals! It's dumb and angsty and edgy and a bit horny, with fountains of blood and over-detailed costumes. And we even get one of the rarest types of main character in modern anime: a short, good-looking, bad-tempered, badass male elf(?) who isn't just a self-insert nobody. After all of the half-hearted isekai light fantasy shows lately this felt like a breath of fresh air, which is ironic given that so far it's mostly just a parade of violent fight scenes with evil clerics in a dark, gritty urban setting. It's based on an older manga and has been condemned to die in obscurity on Amazon Prime Video, but I'd like to see more so long as I remember to go and look for it each week.

The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You s2 ep1:
The chaotic story of Rentarou and his growing crowd of doting girlfriends is back! The show is just as thirsty and contrived as ever, yet it's somehow also one of the most earnest depictions of healthy romantic relationships in recent anime. Heck, it's one of the few positive depictions of (silly) polyamorous harmony in all of modern media. I'm a simple person and I enjoy watching the comedic misadventures of a bunch of people who are being emotionally honest with one another, teaming up with each other to make the one(s) they love happier. I'll never understand why so many 'romance' shows waste so much time on miscommunication when it's way more fun to throw everyone together and explore what happens next. Season two jumps straight into a ridiculous fourth-wall-breaking body swap scenario to reintroduce each girl in a creative way, then has Rentarou encounter someone new. It's just as much fun as the original so far.

As it's been a football weekend, I rather than be distracted by a new show, rewatched

Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World

For the fights and fanservice.

As there was a couple of posts about Isekai recently, I thought I'd read up on the subject.
You could argue that the first anime was about 50 years ago and the earliest English language stories about 160 years ago.
I hadn't previously connected them but I suppose Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Narnia, Oz and John Carter of Mars (1865 to 1910) would be some of the first. A Super Mario game was Isekai.

Shangri-La Frontier Season 2 episode 39 Some great reward.

Toilet-Bound Hanako-Kun Season 2 episode 1 Boundary.

Dragon Ball Z (Rewatch) episodes 71-81, Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug (Film), 82-84

Sakamoto Days (English) - Episode 1

Toilet-bound Hanako-kun (Season 2) (Japanese) - Episode 1

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (Japanese) - Episode 23 - 28 (Complete)

It took me long enough but I finally finished Frieren and like most people I found this a fantastic fantasy series.

The first half was definitely my preferred part of the series but once we really got into the second half I enjoyed that a lot as well. Definitely one of the top fantasy anime of recent years and highly anticipating season two.

Urusei Yatsura (remake) complete season 2: while it's a bit too shouty for my liking and, for those of us with the original series, more like a selection of highlights from the original, it was a fun watch. Loved the last couple of episodes where they went totally berserk. The most annoying thing was a faint sound during the closing song which sounded like my doorbell. I note it's being released in the UK next month. I recommend giving it a go.

Headhunted to Another World: From Salaryman to Big Four! Episode 3 Misunderstanding.

Eps. 1-9 of Macross Delta-this is actually the 1st time I've watched the series (I've already watched both movies) and despite all the meh and low rated reviews it got I really like it so far. It's not as good as Frontier but then what is?👍😇
