Anime

The Deer King

So I finally got around to watching this and it’s ok, at least the story makes enough sense to work and there is some solid location design at times but it might have been the worst time to watch it because the night before I watched a film that very few films could hold a candle to.

Non Anime

Lord of the Rings Return of the King.

What’s there to say other than the fact that this is one of the greatest live action films ever made, the incredible action sequences, the dynamic between Frodo and Sam, as well as all the other characters, the iconic moments and dialogue, the phenomenal soundtrack and also the fact that this film effortlessly breaks the threequels curse by upping the stakes with each and every film and just getting better and better, also it may be one of the longest films out there, running a fair bit over 3 hours but it rarely feels like it is too long, also the ending is one of the best that modern cinema has ever put out, they simply don’t make films like this anymore and that’s a tragedy.

Lord of the Rings The Two Towers and Fellowship of the Ring.

I’m putting these two together because a fair amount of what is said about ROTK applies here albeit on a smaller scale, these are still excellent films but they really are building up to Return of the King, regardless this is one of the greatest film trilogies of all time.

Solo Leveling: episode 3
Jinwoo getting serious!

A Sign of Affection: episodes 1 - 3
I feel like a third wheel watching the episodes so far. OMG, Yuki and Itsuomi are so cute together! Roll on episode 4!!

The Apothecary Diaries: episodes 13 - 15
I love MaoMao! It's agony waiting for each episode :(

The Aristocrat's Otherworldly Adventure: episodes 1 - 12
A fun but a rather silly isekai adventure

Sweet Reincarnation: episodes 1 - 12
Another fun but silly isekai series

Classroom of the Elite III episode 4 Valentines and ill rumours.

Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp episode 3 Scalpel.

Metallic Rouge episode 3 Big fish.

Ishura episode 4 Word arts.

Sengoku Youko episode 3 Alone.

Lost Universe episodes 10-19

My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU episodes 1-9: what an odd bunch of loners and their friends. Much deeper than I was expecting and not as much comedy as the title promises. I think I'm enjoying it.

Chained Soldier episode 4 The price to pay.

Dungeon Meshi episode 4 Digging in the dirt.

The Witch and the Beast episode 3 Troublesome pair.

Lost Universe episodes 20-26 (Complete. A decent late 90s sci-fi series.) 3/5

Love Live! Sunshine!! Season 1 (Rewatch)
episodes 1-6

Non-anime:
Our Flag Means Death season 1, on the recommendation of a friend. A lot of manly men sailing the high seas (to be honest, very flat seas) in search of plunder and booty. I don't think they have fired a cannon yet.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End episode 20 Privilege.

The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to pick up Trash episode 3 Omen.

Undead Unluck episode 16 Fire and sparks.

Love Live! Sunshine!! Season 1 (Rewatch) episodes 7-13 (Complete. On rewatch I found this to be decent but not as good as I remembered - I’m hoping the second season is an improvement.) 3/5

Love Live! Sunshine!! Season 2
episodes 1-13 (Complete. A better season overall with some nice character focus.) 3.5/5

Love Live! Sunshine!! The School Idol Movie: Over the Rainbow (Film)
This was quite a fun film - I’m now caught up on this iteration of the LL franchise. 3.5/5

Read or Die TV (REWATCH, English dubbed) - Was great to revisit this, though I do think the sub is a bit better than the dub, but I really enjoyed this series for the characters, their relationships, and the cool paper power action sequences - I will rewatch the OVA soon as well :)

Niea Under 7 (English dubbed) - Honestly this is one of the pinnacles of slice of life anime for me, and I was really pleasantly surprised by the dub, plus the Blu-ray transfer is amazingly high quality (I'm only watching on a 32 inch screen though), but yeah I love the atmosphere of this series and am so glad I finally watched the whole thing start to finish :)

Currently rewatching Maison Ikkoku (English dubbed) :)
