The Heroic Legend of Arslan (Japanese Dub) - Episode 01

Watched this on Viewster, doesn't seem to have HD resolutions unfortunately (I assume it was around 360p/480p).

Plastic Memories 1

This looks like it'll be doing some pretty hefty world building - but really like the sci-gi stuff it's exploring, feels like a natural cousin to stuff like HAL and Time of Eve, or perhaps even some of the more philosophical eps of GITS SAC. Nice emotional payoff at the end of ep 1.

Sound Euphonium 1

God this show is gorgeous to look at - Kyo Ani have really outdone themselves on that front. I'm getting serious K-On vibes so far, but feel the show will probably be unfairly compared to Your Lie In April simply because of the heavy classical music focus.

Mobile Suit Z Gundam - Episodes 18 & 19 (Blu-ray)

I love the scenes with Kamille and Four and the imposing silhouette of the Psyco Gundam in mobile armour mode.

Fafner: Exodus - Episode 13

I'm enjoying Fafner but it doesn't really excite me very much!

Disappearance of Yuki Nagato ep1

Decided to have a look out of morbid curiosity, having seen so many negative comments about it. It's watchable enough, but without the manic hijinks of the parent series, it feels extremely mild.

Watched episodes 139-141 of Dragonball Z Kai. It took the Fansub group I use 3 months to release these 3 episodes and I'm crossing my fingers the episodes are going to start coming out more frequently.

I also watched episodes 17-19 of Trigun.

Would you have expected much more from a show the focuses on the least interesting member of the cast? I mean, I get that it's supposed to be a spin off from the original series but it seems kind of redundant to write a story about an alternative universe where Haruhi lacks any power. I mean, what makes the setting any different from any other slice of life drama?

Nah, I knew what to expect (I read some of the source manga a couple of years back), it's just a general comment on the story. I agree that by taking out what would have made it unique, they've pretty much missed the point entirely.

Shakugan no Shana II (Second) (Japanese Dub) - Episodes 13-21

Yuji went badass.

And wow, the voice actor for Sabrac is none other than Takaya Kuroda (aka Kazuma Kiryu from the epic Yakuza series), that made the fight even more entertaining for me.

Triage X ep 1

This feels like it's going to be the Terraformars of the season. Treats its female characters like crap? Check. Animation looks about ten years out of date? Check. Loads of censorship? Check. But still, kind of enjoyable in a 'so bad it's good' sort of way, and it seems to have been pretty popular going by the reaction to the first ep. Also, the idol loli girl on rollerskates that blows stuff up is amazing.

My Love Story ep 1

Really, really enjoyed this - it made me laugh a lot too. I love Suna's little asides and the sarcastic annotations that pop up manga-style. Just nice to see a rom-com that actually has a proper sense of humour to it. The art style takes a little getting used to, but it's kind of quaint in a way and good to see something a little different from the norm.

That's pretty much what I'm expecting from it to be honest based on reading the manga. I'll still watch it though :p

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya s2 ep 11-14 (rewatch complete). Just the last episodes of season one and the movie to watch now, then I can start all the new season stuff.

Ore Monogatari / My Love Story ep1

Wholly pleasant, but, as the last shoujo thing I watched was Nozaki-kun, I do miss the latter's degree of self-awareness.

Shakugan no Shana II (Second) (Japanese Dub) - Episodes 22-24 (Complete)
Shakugan no Shana-tan II (Second) (Japanese Dub) - Episode 03 (Complete)
Shakugan no Shana II (Second): Why? What! Shana II (Naze, Nani, Shana II) (Japanese Dub) - Episodes 05-08 (Complete)

LOL Index and Toradora! references in the Shana-tan Revenge special.

Anywho, this was a fun watch. I have the first half of Season 3 but I'll be saving that until I pick up the other half and the Movie & S: OVA collection.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to finish off much of my backlog at home (since I'm heading back to Uni tomorrow, though I can bring them with me I prefer to get them out of the way at home), the only ones remaining are:
- Blood-C & Blood-C: The Last Dark
- Heroic Age
- K
- Martain Successor Nadesico & it's Movie+OVAs
- Sailor Moon (first 23 episodes)
- Senran Kagura
- Unbreakable Machine Doll

I plan to watch the Sword Art Offline specials and Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning movie later today.

Make sure you don't watch Blood-C on a full stomach ;-)

Man, I really need to re-watch K - I've completely forgotten what happens in it, but I remember I enjoyed it at the time.
