i just noticed at the bottom right corner

Dante's Inferno

now if i am right, it seems that this anime is based off the first volume of The Divine Comedy :)

I thought it was the anime project to go along with the EA Dante's Inferno game (which is loosely based on the writings) :p

Damn, I was hoping they could have followd Dante's Inferno with an anime version of Paradise Lost. John Milton is clearly moe.

First eps watched of:

Omamori Himari - Really fun first ep, I thought. Polished if unoriginal humor, potentially decent action, and some scope to have cool demon designs. This show also probably has nicer breasts than either of the porn shows this season.

Ookamikakushi - very, very promising start. Really awesome, creepy atmosphere, great Peach Pit character designs and loads of potential to be another great series.

The first episode of Durarara! was subbed a few days ago, just got round to watching it this morning. It shows a lot of promise in that the art and animation quality are of a good standard (at least on a par with Baccano), but it's very much an introductory episode. I'm reserving judgement until the plot develops a bit more, but it looks as if it should be worth sticking with. Certainly the people familiar with the light novels rate it very highly.

Just a couple more ep 1s to go after these:

Cobra - Cobra is just ace. He's like James Bond in the year 3000, where the year 3000 is actually 1975 in the future. He drinks, he smokes cigars, all the women wear skimpy clothes and fall at his feet eventually, he kills people, his left arm is a gun. All that good stuff. If you're one of those people who complains that "they don't make em like they used to" or something along those lines, and you're *not* watching this, then shame on you.

Dance in the Vampire Bund - Very bold choice for the first ep, almost Haruhi-esque but not quite as nuts. Really excited to see what else they do with the series, although it will stick kick ass if they just stick to the manga.

Kaito Reinya - There are no words for how crazy this is. Very funny, and since it's only a few minutes long (fortunately, normal human brains might not be able to take too much of this) hopefully someone will sub it, even though no-one will watch it.

Seikon no Qwaser - Very different (cuter and sillier) in tone than I expected, and also much more entertaining. Looks like falling into the guilty pleasure bracket.

This. He gets blind drunk and then jumps out of a plane only to realise he's forgotten his jetpack. It's great.
In cases such as these I'd usually say, "I'll wait for the US DVD release". But, really, there's more chance of Night Shift Nurses being passed uncut by the BBFC than of any more Cobra being licensed. Will check this one out.

Yeah, I think it's been licensed for streaming by Crunchyroll, but the chances of an official dvd release are slim to none. At least for an English version, the French might get it.

And completing my round of ep 1s:

Durarara!! - absolutely amazing first episode, tremendous sense of place, loads going on in the story, great characters, great voice acting, great OP. Can't wait to see more.

Hanamaru Youchien - First ep of this amused me greatly. The occasional kitten-licking-the-inside-of-your-brain level of cute might put some people off, but this could turn out to be a comedy gem.

You mean I can still hold out hope?

Durarara is great and it's character designer is the Kamisama Kaizoku/ Yokuza Quartet dood so that's all win as far as I can tell.

Idiots, Tests and Summoning Battles had way too much visual nonsense going on for my tastes, it was like someone looked at YuGiOh with it's stats and such and went "We can have 3/4 of the screen like that!"

I'm deferring judgement on Dance in the Vampire Bund until episode 2 unless Shinbo decides he's writing the story for that.

Odd you'd say it would kick ass if it sticks to the manga as form the first episode they are throwing the source material out with the baby.

Large parts of BakaTest aren't based around the summons, so I'd give it a little while longer.

*Even if* it sticks to the manga it will kick ass. I also expect it to kick ass if they continue to deviate, since I thoroughly enjoyed the first episode, nothing of which suggested that they wouldn't be returning to the manga plot after changing the opening.

I'm interested in DRRRRRRRR and Dance in the Vampire Bund, worth my time, AUKN?

I did like Bakemonogatari, by the way if DitVB is similar.

Still need to finish of Kuchu Buranko before I start anything else.

Vampire Bund isn't really anything like Bakemonogatari (almost nothing I can think of is, really), but it's still potentially a good series.

DRRR has started very strongly.

Dance 2 seemed to get the, er, "Querks" of the series out of the way, from now on, it should be awesome Death Noteing at the speed of light with awesome fights and such.

Sooooo, is it more like what I had presumed from the little writeup then? I've still not had a chance to check even a preview of any of the winter stuff, let alone actual eps.

Well, it's got some silly/comedy elements to it. But I think it's also going to be a lot of action, and the usual OTT attempt a plot that just ends up being lots of jargon and people needing to fight each other for... some reason.

So if you were thinking of watching in case it was a bit zany or something, then not really.

Not sure what you mean by zany. :p I'd presumed it'd be action but with perverted comedy. But then someone said it was dark (not my thing).
Zany makes me think excel saga and puni puni (which aren't my thing) :p

Yeah, by zany I meant kind of crazy "breastmilk LOL" humor. The first ep didn't have any outright "humor" as in jokes or gags, really, just kind of the girls being a bit silly. The breastmilk aspect is pretty much played straight... er... as it were.

There's violence and weird religious stuff, but there's also parts that are more like a standard high school drama.

Overall, I think it's probably going to be more focused on action + softcore porn, but if you watch the TV broadcast the porn is editted, so it might end up looking like action + light entertainment.
