Winter 2010 Season

ilmaestro

State Alchemist
Ignoring stuff that airs in the morning for kids, airs in the afternoon for kids, airs on mobile phones for kids, is a movie (for kids or otherwise), is Porn or not-porn-but-boys-love (not really for kids) or is Weiss Survive R (definitely not for kids), this should be a pretty complete list of the anime from late December through to January, and a little bit more up to the biggest release of the year (air times are all Japanese - Monday 25:00 means 1am Tuesday, which means 4pm Monday UK time):

There's also Unko-san, who is getting his own series soon. >_>

The next volume of the "Issho-ni" series won't necessarily be a follow up to "Training", but there are all sorts of reason why that link will suffice. ^_^

The song itself doesn't do much for me but the content of that OP looks quite interesting. I'd have completely ignored the series based on the character designs for the girls if I hadn't watched that. Maybe I'll keep it on my radar for next time I want to pick up a silly series that doesn't take itself too seriously.

Edit: I'll take Katanagatari, Harutoki 3 and probably Durarara!! from the list for now. Nothing else catches my eye.

I'm expecting Ookamikakushi, SoRaNoWoTo, Durarara!!, BakaTest, Dance in the Vampire Bund, Omamori Himari, and possibly Ladies vs Butlers to keep me entertained. Which is at least twice as many shows as usually catch my eye in winter.

What's wrong with the character designs for BakaTest, btw? A bit too stereotypical?

haha, that intro has to be one of the dopiest things i've seen since Seto no Hanayome

it also looks rather funny so yay more comedy for me! :D

Looks awesome too! :D

Nodame's the only definite for me. Dance in the Vampire Bund is a maybe, mostly due to the fact it's SHAFT, and as the trailer does look interesting.

Other than that, think I'll take the time for some catch-ups.

Hmmm, just from looking at that image with short descriptions, I'd probably look more into and possible check out:

Vampire Bund, Qwaser of Stigmata, Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu, Omamori Himari,
And maybe Heartcatch PreCure purely for the seeming cross between mermaid melody (which I never got to finish) and shugo chara, for the lols. :p

Durarara is the only one that sounds remotely interesting. EDIT: Ookamikakushi has some potential. Will be keeping an eye on what the ANN reviewers think of it. Nothing from Madhouse (aside from more Hellsing Ultimate yay), Bones, or IG. Boo.

I swear, every year Japan produces less and less anime I want to watch. It's just as well I have a DVD backlog, because I can't see myself buying many new ones over the next few years at least.

some of those sound really interesting Qwaser of Stigmata is on my list, along with Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 3, Ookamikakushi and Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu :)

QFT. And the character designs get cutesier. Or pointier.

lol yeah

this is all fairly mainstream i guess, so i think the trick is to dig deeper

and remember, this is only what's going out this month and Januray, there's likely to be more to come :)

The fact that they haven't appeared on the chart yet makes me a bit apprehensive, but I was under the impression that the delayed new Space Adventure Cobra series is due at the start of january and there's a new UC Gundam OAV for february.

Both of which appeal to me rather more than anything already mentioned apart from Durarara and Hellsing.

I swear some people have little to no perspective on things like this.

When you all started watching anime, you had anything from 20-30 years of consistently produced TV shows to take your pick from, and generally the crap wasn't available (actually, that's not entirely the case, but y'all probably thought it wasn't crap because it was the amongst the only things available).

Find me a single year where there was a better combination of shows than Zoku Natsume Yuujin-Chou, Tetsuwan Birdy Decode: 02, Ride Back, Genji Monogatari, Sengoku Basara, Phantom, Hayate no Gotoku!!, Shin Mazinger Shougeki! Z-Hen, Cross Game, Guin Saga, Shangri-La, Souten Kouro, Eden of the East, Bakemonogatari, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, Natsu no Arashi, To Aru Kagaku no Railgun, Kimi ni Todoke, Aoi Bungaku, Haruhi, Umineko, CANAAN, Darker than Black: Ryuusei no Gemini, Kuuchuu Blanco. I'll then point out all the crap shows that aired that year, and all the people of the time who were doubtless saying that anime had gone down the toilet.

I can see why a lot of the shows this season wouldn't appeal to everyone, but Winter is almost always the weakest season, anyway.

We're not good enough for you? ;_;

They are still planned afaik. Unicorn for sure, and I've seen nothing to suggest that Cobra isn't starting in January, either.

What does it matter if they're TV shows, films or OVAs? There was still more better, original anime being produced back then.
