What you guys doing right now.

Doing that thing where you have to pierce tiny score marks in to POTATOES!

Good day for me, bought some hard to find manga volumes really cheap, found my book store had finally started stocking manga (it's only Naruto and One Piece - but it's still manga anyway, second store in two weeks this has occurred for me, both were WHSmith), and recently seen on the forum that Ghibli will make a big part of Christmas TV schedule on Film4 and the Full Metal Panic:TSR Blu-Rays will be region compatible (not that matters I'll be getting round to a new multi-region Blu-Ray/DVD player anyway because the standard DVD one doesn't look great)

I like having one of these days every so often :D

I'm chilling out with a tin of tuna, as a midnight snack, after getting back from the Final Fantasy Distant Worlds concert at the Royal Albert Hall. I haven't just sat here eating tuna from the tin in years...

The concert was just amazing. Highlights were Liberi Fatali, Zanarkand, Dancing Mad (especially Dancing Mad. The pipe organ use was fantastic.) and the opera Maria and Draco from 6. Everything was fantastic but these left the biggest lasting impression. It felt like 8 and 6 got the most love and 9 seemed a bit...Underused.

I was there too, and thought it was great. I was hoping for a little more IX too (like Vamo' Alla Flamenco). XI didn't get much love either, but it's not popular here and Uematsu didn't work on it much so I guess that's not surprising.

I'm hoping to go back again next year :)

I was there also, brilliant stuff :D I love music so I'd hopped at the chance to get tickets for this; there's not enough of these sorts of things in the UK. I was gutted to realise I missed the Zelda one last month.

Shame I didnt realise any of you were going or I'd probably have been happy to meet up for a drink or two before hand, although I had a b*****d time with the trains/underground as so many line closures etc.

I actually quite enjoyed the I-VI sections (although I thought Dancing Man was perhaps a bit much) as I played a lot of the older titles when I was younger, so some of the melodies brought back memories that's for sure.
I was actually expecting to hear a bit more from 7 being honest, given how popular it is. Really liked hearing the full version of the fanfare at the beginning too; it's not included on a lot of stuff, but it was more or less Square's unofficial theme for at least a few years.

I did have to laugh though when they discussed the 25th anniversary though, and given Square-Enix people were there, you heard (what sounded like at least a few people) shout 'FINAL FANTASY 7!!'. Made me laugh a little; in terms of marketing, it'd definately be a good move to release a well done remake on the 25th anniversary of the series, as arguably the biggest (at least in the West) of the series.

I may well be back next year with the brother who didnt go this time round.

Highlights for me would probably have been:
Various 1-3 Medleys, Aeris' Theme, Opera and Zanarkand.
One-Winged Angel was also a virtually expected closure, was quite amusing to see Nobuo (I could see him clearly from my seat) singing along to the entire thing.

Yeah it felt like 9 and onwards kind of got left out a bit. You have Susan Calloway who sings the opening for XIV, plus she was introduced that way, and she doesn't sing that song but does the XI theme. I understand there must have been time constraints but I'm sure they could have fit that one in as well. In some respects the earlier games(pre 4) got a bit left out but I loved the medley for 1-3 so I forgave them for that!

If I go back to next years concert I think I would have to plump for VIP tickets...

Ugh, worst part of the day by far. Fortunately I got to Paddington 2 hours before the concert began, with a view to grabbing a bite to eat beforehand, without realising that the District and Central lines were down. Had to do that whole rigamarole with going on the Bakerloo line or something to Picadilly Circus and then getting the Picadilly line to South Kensington. That's 2 out of my 3 trips to London this year when that lines been down...

I was actually expecting to hear a bit more from 7 being honest, given how popular it is.

I'm actually suprised they didn't over use songs with 7! Don't get me wrong I adore 7 and its soundtrack, which I almost bought after the concert..., but I expected half of the concert to be just about it.

I thought some of the cosplay was great too. I'm not normally a fan of cosplay but seeing some of the really detailed stuff in the flesh was pretty impressive.

I was in a mob of people, and we had to take buses there and back because so much of the transport network wasn't working. A few in my group had been hoping to pick up some merchandise too, but £30 for the soundtracks (most of which I already have) soon put an end to that idea.

My favourites were probably You're Not Alone, Zanarkand, Terra's theme and the opera. I also liked Kiss Me Good-Bye even though it was just a cover version. Why is You're Not Alone not on the Distant Worlds CDs? :(

No doubt next year they will run through a lot of the favourites again, but I could have lived without J-E-N-O-V-A (which I love but personally think doesn't work so well with an orchestra) for something with a different feel to the sweeping pieces that made up most of the setlist. I'll definitely be taking them up on the request for suggestions through the website.

The XIV/XI thing was confusing, though I'm glad it wasn't the XIV theme (which I've never heard) in the end as otherwise XI would have been left out in the cold completely. It's weird how nostalgic seeing the old cutscenes was and how much of each game I've completely forgotten. I'd even forgotten most of the XI opening and I still play that regularly to this day ^^;

I came from MK, usually that's about 2-3 trains. Had to take about 10 by the time I got home! The journey down too about 4 hours for what should have been a 1 hour trip :(

Yeah I was kinda surprised by that, whereas it felt a bit weighted towards 6 by contrast. I did love hearing some of the older tracks from the earlier games though, as I hadn't expected those at all.

I was expecting to see loads given the nature of the evening; but I actually hardly saw anyone. Was kinda dissapointed in a way. I think perhaps I arrived and got in too early, when the cosplayers were probably hanging around the front, whereas I was likely inside at the bar having a drink after the nightmare of getting there.

Yeah, that was a shame. I'd expected it to be expensive as they have a captive audience, but it was a bit too much for me. I'd have been willing to buy some of the stuff if it'd been £5-10 less, but it was just a bit too much for me.

My younger brother got the DVD; nicely that at least came with a couple of CD's, although not everything. I'll have to borrow them off him some time when he comes back from Uni.

I've just got Policenauts working on epsxe!! My mate recommended it to me as I enjoy MGS games thanks to Kojima's crackers storytelling, but I thought I would never get my head around all this emulating fuddly muddly stuff. It took me longer then I could ever justify as worth it, but I'm so proud of myself, woop woop.
I feel like a genuine computer nerd now, this is the first thing with a computer I've done that I know most normal peeps couldn't do.

Although, I'm a little concerned about the supposed groping of female characters that your character can do(How do the Japanese get away with this stuf!?).....I'm worried I may never be able to look at Kojima the same way(err hang on exactly how do I look at him :? )...however I may have to try the full extent of this feature..ahem...you know.. just to see the extent of the debauchery of course....

Looking online for Stephen merchant stand up dates.... the missus has told me that joseph and the multicoloured dreamcoat is starting up in milton keynes in spring and i'm going kicking and screaming.... so might aswell go see a legend whilst i'm at it lol.

You'd think the wasps and bees are all dead by now..... no idea how but there's a dirty great big wasp dominating the airspace in the reception area - had to go to the other side of the building and it decided to fly and land above the door i needed to get through.

One of them flies anymore than a 3 foot radius of me and i run for the hills, really don't like em.

/envious of people going to FF concerts

It was AWESOME *not making it better*

There are a load of reasonable videos on youtube though :)

As for what I'm doing now...
Waiting to see if my mate rings me to start Heroic Halo:ODST coop, and considering picking up my bass as I really need to practice this week.

Well it's on again next year, although even those of us who went this year are still waiting to hear when tickets are gonna go onsale. It should be pretty good as it'll be the 25th anniversary so the if there's a time to do anything really special it's then.
