What manga are you reading now?

Loveless Volume 13 - I did enjoy this a lot, I hope Yun Kouga is ok and finishes the story properly in the end :)
I too would love - would have loved - her to finish Loveless but I have reconciled myself to the probability that - as with X 1999 and CLAMP - it's never going to happen. The moment passed. The anime of Loveless came out in 2005 (gulp!) and I suspect that, as with so many other manga turned into anime before their conclusion, the mangaka just kind-of lost interest or turned to other projects. In Kouga-sensei's case, she was chosen for Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and that completely took over her life!

You're almost certainly correct unfortunately, and have reminded me that I still need to read X/1999! Are there any completed series by her that you'd recommend to someone like me who adored Loveless? :)

Sistersong - Lucy Holland - Robyn Holdaway (Audible Audiobook) - Def worth a listen, I see the point of criticisms made by some that these characters are very modern in their thinking in a way that is likely not really authentic, but I did really enjoy this anyway, the writing style was beautiful and the story and characters compelling, I am not sure if this is classed as YA fiction or not but it avoided many of the more grating tropes used by some lesser YA books, and I also liked that having three main characters who tell different chapters from their POV provided a range of perspectives and helped keep the book away from just having one female character archetype at it's center, I also thought the narration was of a high standard, and appreciated the trans man rep :)

I recommend Earthian which still seems to be available in digital and predates Loveless. Only four volumes, and counts as one of the earlier BL titles to make it into official English translation and the art (although of its time) is very lovely. Crown of Love still seems to also be available in digital (also 4 volumes but very different). Akuma no Riddle : Riddle Story of Devil (her most recent series, I think) still seems to be available from Seven Seas but I confess I'm not sure if it is complete! (The same issue as Loveless - a successful anime...)

'At long last--the final chapter of Haru and Tokaku's tale has arrived!' Blurb for Volume 5 of Akuma no Riddle! So I was unfair in suggesting it might not be complete... 😅

Part 5 volume 11 of Ascendance of a Bookworm ...next volume will be the final one. I'm gonna miss this cast of characters.

Looking forward to the new anime season and hope they adapt it all eventually.

I read a script for a feature film that one of my best friends wrote, it was pretty neat, 122 pages long, reminded me a fair bit of the style of Derek Kirk Kim in works like Tune :)

I am now listening to Minecraft: The Island, as read by Jack Black, very good so far, I've got about 3 hours and 12 minutes left to go :)

Finally giving the papery world a go. Read the first volume of invaders of the rokyujoma and enjoyed it, despite either the author or translator constantly putting actions and phrases backwards, making the dialogue rather confusing. I wonder if Edinburghs forbidden planet has snow white with the red hair..

Minecraft: The Island - Max Brooks - Jack Black Unabridged Audiobook - I'm really glad I finished this, JBs narration was excellent and I enjoyed the fun meta approach to the storytelling and worldbuilding :)

The Story of Doctor Dolittle by Hugh Lofting with illustrations by Michael Hague - Lovely adventure story with lots of beautiful pictures, feel lucky to own a copy of this as well as I believe it's quite rare now, they did rework one chapter due to racism concerns but it flows well anyway :)

Just finished volume 6 of The Hidden Dungeon Only I Can Enter, which appears to be the last one written. Surprising, as it did get both a manga and anime adaptation, but then it was released around the time Covid broke the planet...

It was a enjoyable and light-hearted read, apart from the creepy little sister and the fact that every single female Noir met was a powerful wizard/warrior supermodel and (mostly) had the hots for him. Also, it annoyed me that he kept bypassing all the early levels to check out the new ones, as those supposed to be were where he was getting the rare stock for his shop from.

Ran and the Gray World Volumes 1-5 - Absolutely love this so far, very keen to see how they wrap things up in the last two volumes! :)

Peter Pan Audible Original Drama COMPLETE - Full Cast - Worth a listen, takes some liberties with the story, but has the same overall vibe and conclusion, I liked this and it was fun that Rupert Everett was in it as Captain Hook, but given the relatively short length I'd question whether it's worth using an Audible credit on/paying £7.99 for, however it was enjoyable, perhaps one to grab when it's on a deal so you get two for 1 or something like that, speaking as someone who loves Peter Pan I don't regret listening to it, and I'd def say if you have kids it would do a decent job of keeping the family entertained :)

Welcome Back, Alice Volume 7 COMPLETE - Glad I finally finished this, not the best Oshimi series IMO and personally upsetting for me at one point to a noteworthy degree but worth buying and reading volume by volume as it was released if you are a fan like me and I appreciated the gender exploration stuff :)

Heartstopper Volume 5 (Hardcover) - So nice and wholesome and sweet, I look forward to Volume 6 which is gonna be the last one now, and I have bought the two Heartstopper novellas - This Winter and Nick and Charlie - in hardcover and will read those soon when they arrive as well :)

Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven (Hardcover) - Beautiful artwork and engaging story, I loved this I'm really glad I finally bought it after eyeing it in HMV and Waterstones for like a year, I loved all the muted greens and purples to match BB and Raven's signature colours :)
