What manga are you reading now?

Now, if only I could find the DVD's for cheap... :/
Forget R1, R4 can be worth checking out sometimes. ;-) Maybe they'll do a sale at some point as well so worth keeping an eye on imo. http://www.madman.com.au/actions/catalo ... ethod=view

I liked GTO, reckon the last few volumes failed a bit. (It introduced a whole new set of characters for no real reason other than to stretch things out, and then wrapped things up a few volumes later :/ ). I'm glad I got through to the end.

Currently reading The Earlier Years. Not a prequal, just released by Tokyopop after GTO. More violent (street gang wars etc.), and the humour not as clever (just cruder, lol), but it's fun! :)

I don't mind importing R4, I did before with fafner and gankutsuo for instance.
But, you linked me a boxset that goes for 40 quid. Each boxset from amazon goes for 20 quid. So basically, it will be up to postage costs / import duty.

Finished reading all three Claymore volumes I have on-hand just now. The first two volumes, while not exactly dull, weren't exactly thrilling - as expected - but the third volume made up for it. Once Teresa entered the picture and the flashback story got rolling, Claymore jumped from pretty good to pretty ******* awesome - just like the anime.

It's unusual for a story that had been all fairly straightforward monster killing to transform into a more touching and emotional story. It really is odd how, in the middle of all the killing, time was spent on building a sort of mother-daughter bond between two lonely people. And Clare is sooooooo cute as a kid - I love how she shacks her head because she can't speak. I'm really looking forward to reading volume 4 now.

Tomorrow I'll most likely get around to reading volumes 3-4 of GTO. I'll then wait for TBD to send me damaged books, or help get them lost by sending a silly amount of parcels.

I am too reading Claymore but am much further in the story. Well put Aion by the way. I love how the manga has some great monster killing action while supplying a more meaningful story line aswell. Very similar to Berserk (which I'm aso reading at the moment) imo.
"Teresa of the faint smile" is still my favourite arc.
Also reading Satan 666 at the moment. There's not much to say about this manga... it's average imo.

Yup, it's the best part of the story that was covered in the anime (up to around volume 11). The next volume and volume 5 will be be excellent, and when the flashback story ends the proper story starts to get good.

This is an odd thing to praise but I like how, on the cover art the silver eyes of the characters glow. It's a small thing but attention to detail is always nice to see. The cover art itself is also very stylish, so it's a nice series to have on my shelf to look at. And, assuming volumes 4-12 arrive without issue, I'll only need 2 volumes to catch up with what has been released in English, as far as I know anyway.

It's too bad Berserk, the only similar manga to Claymore, costs over double per volume to buy because Dark Horse are gits. Even if it was a short series it wouldn't be great but Berserk isn't short - 30+ volumes are out, with no end in sight. Really, you have to ask yourself if Berserk is twice the manga Claymore is, and for me the answer is no.

I would have to agree. I love Berserk but wish I had an idea of when the end mite be in site. Too soon to tell with Claymore tho. People mite be saying the same about that 10 years down the road! Oo That would suck.

I'm uptodate with both stories so am going to try and control myself to have a break for as long as possible. That way I can read a chunk at once rather than a one day fix.

Chibi Vampire Volume 13. Karin is still cute and the story is now staring to deviate from the anime more, with more characters coming in.

Spiral Volume 7. Wow just as confusing as the anime, but I think we are heading in the right direction to actually find out what everything is about.

Okay, so I ventured into the Closet of Doom and excavated my GTO manga. I found volume 15 which I thought I'd read but, it transpires, had not. Well that's odd. Anyway, Onizuka does seem to play a more prominent role in this volume than the previous few, so I'll read it then order the next book from Play (mmm, PlayTrade funds) and see how it goes.

(Grrrr, how dare he ignore my generous offer of giving him the postage to cover sending the books to me. That bastard...)

FMA 1 and Dragon Ball 6-12 arrived today. But I'm not going to read the first volume of FMA yet since I've A) read the chapters included online and B) don't have any more volumes, and I'm not going to get into Dragon Ball again until I own all 16 volumes.

TBD are taking their sweet time sending 8/9 of the Claymore books I ordered. I hope it's because they're searching for a box large enough to fit them all in...

Ok.

*unzips*

Get down on your virtual knees and...

...nevermind.

That line you said totally didn't sound creepy.

Are you and CitizenGeek closer friends than you made out?

I noticed with the last decent sized order I made with TBD they took ages (about a week from first to last, after taking 2 days in the first place) to send everything out even though it was supposed to be in stock.

Everything I ordered was showing (and still is) each book in-stock, available to be sent within 48 hours of ordering. N\ear enough 48 hours on, only one has been sent.

If they send everything separate AND took forever, I'll start to go off them. I was planning on using them again for another 9ish book order if none of Claymore books arrive damaged, but...

http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews-all-152832.html

After reading the above reviews, I'm not feeling so good about my nine volume order. In the past I've received damaged books from TBD but, because of their reputation and CS, as well as lower than the rest pricing, I didn't think too much of it. However, it seems they've transformed from a speedy site (in terms of sending and answering questions) to a site that doesn't send and has no customer service. If what's said in the reviews is accurate then my £40 might not be as well spent as I'd hope. How a store can change from answering a complaint in under an hour and offering 30% of £60 back to how it sounds now is shocking...

It's really a shame if TBD have gone balls up because I was going to order Naruto 28-31 and FMA 2-9(ish) at some point in the near future. While I've noticed TBD have become more expensive for the most part, they still do have some great prices and beat the other stores most of the times. Without TBD to order from, buying manga new will mostly be a no-no for me - it isn't as if I live in an area where book stores have more than a few old and tatty copies of manga, and no 'buy one, get one free' promotions. :/

Those reviews definitely don't look good for TBD. Just checked my order and the book they said was processing at the beginning of the week, which I had assumed had been sent is still processing. I got used to waiting for things ordering from the US, but really how long does it take to print an address label and stick a book in a jiffy envelope.

I wonder if they have laid people off or just don't have the staff to cope with demand.

The staff has to have decreased in number or changed. They still haven't answered the message I sent when I placed a £42 order. You'd think they'd try to keep the sort of people who order nine books at once and might come back happy...

Dude, just take a trip into Birmingham city center and have a look in Nostalgia and FP.

It's a rather long trip there and back with no car, no idea where I'm going and a terrible memory. :p Are there a lot of 'buy one, get one free!' offers in those stores in Brum, involving decent books?

I do actually have a 'friend' of sorts who goes to Brum every few weeks to buy comics. I'd assume his stores and the stores I want to go to are one and the same. Next time I see him I'll question him see if he'll be my guide dog.

Update:

Volume 7 arrived safe and sound.
Volumes 9, 10, 11 & 12 have been sent.

The bad? 4, 5, 6 & 8 are still staying still. I NEED 4-6 BEFORE I CAN DO ANYTHING, SO WHAT'S THE FRIGGIN' POINT OF SENDING THE LATER VOLUMES FIRST!? DUMBFUCKS!

What!?

What!?

Two friends are better than none, I guess. ;) (This is CitizenGeek smile, for added ****ness)

When I glanced over the picture thread, I noticed your picture. You kind of look like the Brum comic guy... Then again, you also looked like the Geordie guy on Youtube who showed off all 100 or so books of his manga collection. At least he was proud of owning Death Note...
