What Games Are You Playing?

I am a huge Resident Evil fan, i just don't like how Capcom ruin games so often like this. Just give me a survival horror game again. I miss them

If you want RE survival horror you'll need to get a 3DS. An article I read recently (I think it was in Games TM magazine) which said that the RE numbered games will be more action oriented while RE games with subtitles (like Resident Evil: Revelations on the 3DS) will carry on the survival horror of the earlier games.

Yeah, i mentioned above in my bit that i think Revelations is a true Resi game. I've had the 3DS since launch and put 20-30 hours into the game. So good. I actually covered the game in a blog post as well a while back, where i kind of sung praises for it. Just a shame they can't do the same with the console titles.

The other bit is, though that RE6 is meant to be split up. Leon - Survival Horror like RE2, Chris - Action like RE5 and Jake - all new. But from the demo, it doesn't even feel like that.

Downloaded 'Slender.'
Played for maybe a minute.
Turned around saw Slender Man
Turned back: gone
Face front again and JESUS ****ING CHRIST
*turns of game, throws computer out of window*

Just finished up on Xbox version of Dungeon Fighter. Fun game for 800msp but soooo many bugs/glitches/freezing. :( Might have to give the PC version a go.

Finally started Fable III last night also, does not look promising.

I'm starting to think my tastes in games and anime is totally broken compared to everyone elses.

I didn't mind Fable 3, found it quite enjoyable. Didn't live up to what it might have been, but it's Fable not some deep RPG.

Apparently I've already clocked 15 hours on Theatrhythm. Keep getting embarrassed playign it on the bus/train when i realise I'm humming or dancing along. Embarrassed to say it's probably the most fun I've had with a Final Fantasy title in 10 years.

Hahahahaha. My brother played that & he's not easily scared but he freaked the hell out & screamed like a little girl.

Thus, I will never play it. Slender man stories are enough for me.

La Mulana, more specifically the remake that was supposed to come out on Wiiware but instead went to the pc.

I forgot how much I loved this, at times, sadistic game. So many great traps and they put in some brilliant new ones to catch already suspecting players. Gotten to the same stage with the original in that I need to go to the backside of all of the levels, except I don't have the software for the Grail to make it easier. My memory of what to do cuts here so this is going to get interesting...

Also where the heck has the Confusion Gate gone? Why is there a place called Eden in its place!? I think the developers are getting clever, although gosh darn it I really want to hear my favourite areas music remixed!

Playing Alan Wake, which I received as a birthday present from my sister and her boyfriend. The combat mechanics took a bit of getting used to but it certainly makes for a more frantic experience than I've had in many games, which is not only fun and challenging but also suits the horror novel atmosphere perfectly. The Remedy magic is still there, clearly, as even just driving up a mountain feels epic. And when I put the radio on and heard Nick Cave, well...

My one criticism so far is that while the levels are linear but massive (very similar to Max Payne) there is a lot of forest to wade through. While the log cabins, derelict buildings and rural industry that punctuate it all have that sinister Steven King atmosphere down to a T, I'd rather hoped to see more of the town of Bright Falls itself. There's time yet, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Playing Alan Wake...

Did you get a new version with the 1st DLC? Not sure if you'll consider this a spoiler, but just in case: you see a lot of the town in the DLC chapters (and I'm sure you will see more in the game, though I don't really remember what order places happen in). If you do enjoy the game the DLC is REALLY worth getting though, the 2 DLC chapters are probably the best 2 (for gameplay, not so much for story).

This reminds me I downloaded American Nightmare when it came out and still haven't played it. Still need to finish my Nightmare playthrough on the original game too :(

Lived dangerously and uncovered the spoiler - They got me the whole shebang including American Nightmare and the DLC, so that's excellent news. Itching to get back into it but I can't play during the day though, it's just not right.

I've read up about that slender man and can only say: that doesn't sound remotely scary in the slightest.

watched a few previews of sly 4 and can say - i'm looking forward to that :)

I don't find the Slender Man stories that disturbing or creepy, no. But the game is freaky. It probably didn't help that I played it at night lol.

It genuinely made me shout though. I wouldn't say scream because it wasn't really high pitched or long enough. More like a yelp or a bark :p

It's a brilliant game though, the simplicity of the nature of the gameplay is genius (though it's not explained) you have a rechargable torch, which only recharges when off, you have to collect 8 pages and the slender man will not appear in front of you, only if you turn and turning off your flashlight will prevent him from getting you if you see him.

That sounds simple enough, but your curiosity gets the better of you and you just HAVE to look. How can you not? If someone says to you "Don't look, but there's a hot girl behind you" or "Don't move, there's a spider on you" what are you gonna do but look and move?

To quote Jez from Peep Show "You know my nature! You're using my nature against me!" :p

Alan Wake must be one of my biggest gaming disappointments. Linear levels, lack of enemy variety, not really scary or tense, and the story was delivered as such a slow drip-feed that I lost interest well before the game finally showed its hand.

Maybe I was just expecting more after the long wait and all the hype. I do, after all, love Remedy's Max Payne, which also has linear levels and a lack of enemy variety (it's also not scary or tense, though of course it isn't supposed to be). Also, Max was cool and so-mo diving around made me feel cool, while Alan was a twat and... yeah.

Like I said my distance from on-forum-popular-opinion seems to be increasing byt he day, but I LOVED Alan Wake. I went in with pretty much no expectations though, having ignored the hype and never having played Max Payne. The story makes nos ense but I thought it was very atmospheric. I don't understand why everyone thinks linear is such a dirty word, sometimes it works (not to mention some lines seem thicker than others, you could do a fair bit of wandering in AW).

Played The Walking Dead: Episode Two the other day, Man some of those decisions in that game made me feel bad, I mean, deciding who gets to eat and who starves...come on why do you do this to me?!

Got the GTA Collection through them Steam Sales recently and I'm currently playing Grand Theft Auto III at the moment.

Oh, I'm fine with linearity, it's just that in the case of Alan Wake I was hoping for a little more in light of all the hype and that it was, apparently, originally envisioned as more of an open-world game. As such, I found that Deadly Premonition (for all its many faults) was the game I wanted Alan Wake to be.

Linearity is also a convenient criticism I can lob at a game I'm not enjoying :p

I think the whole Slenderman nonsense is utterly ruined by just how bad some of the acting in the Marble Hornets series can be :p

Don't even bother.

I spent about an hour lastnight reading up about the slenderman and watching youtube videos on the game. It was scarier to look around a world that left creepy notes and was completely deserted, when the slenderman appeared the guy filming his adventure started screaming and crying and ran only to turn around and see the slenderman right behind him. I'm not sure that the graphics helped as the slenderman looked abit..... crap. perhaps if someone spent the time and effort into video-ing live people in a sort of blair witch scenario and a decent looking monster not a CG slenderman that was made by the likes of the primevil show then MAYBE i'll feel alittle scared.

I did end up reading about the SCP things of pure weirdness. It does sound abit like "whats the weirdest, toughest thing i can possibly imagine and what super powers can i give it"

One was a crocodile like monster who could regenerate after 87% of its body was destroyed and could talk. Had a severe hatred for humans and liked to talk to a computer chip with AI and cognitive abilities equal to a human but was infact on a old cassette tape hooked up to a tv.
