What did you RECEIVE today? PHOTOS EDITION!

Today I received two more anime shipments - one with three UK titles from a blu-ray.com member, and one title from Crunchyroll US:

Quintessential Quintuplets Season 1 UK Blu-ray
Quintessential Quintuplets Season 2 UK Blu-ray
Quintessential Quintuplets Movie UK Blu-ray

Vampire Hunter D Sentai Re-issue with slipcover

So did the second season of Quints never come with a slipcover? I have yet to see one for Season 2. I got all three UK sets for only $36, so this was a major bargain even without a matching S2 slipcover, considering the OOP US Funimation Season 1 Blu-ray is selling for $400+ on eBay. I could just find a cheap copy of the US Season 2 Blu-ray to steal the slipcover off of, and still have a bargain.

We never got a slipcover for Quints S2 in the UK unfortunately as it was during a time Funimation / Crunchyroll had ditched them for the most part.

As Lucky_Deity said, this was from a brief period when Crunchyroll UK abandoned slipcovers.

As to the bolded, that won't work. Your UK set is in the typical thicker UK case, and the US version is in the thinner case that Crunchyroll US uses for 2-disc sets so the slip won't fit on the UK case. Not unusual for Crunchyroll US, S1 is a blu-ray + DVD combo set, while S2 is blu-ray only hence is just two discs. You could, of course, just swap the entire packaging.

As you probably know, most of the Crunchyroll UK standard sets are blu-ray only, which I prefer since I have no use for the extra DVDs.

Yes, I am aware of the difference in thickness between the US and UK Standard BD cases, so you are correct I'd have to sap the entire package - or, I could just toss the other two slipcovers to make them all match... For now I'll just leave them the way they are.

And I agree about DVDs - I had been griping for 15 years about including DVDs in LE/CE sets - I haven't bought anything on DVD since 2008, with the only exceptions being that I had no choice in buying combo sets and anime DVD series that never received a Blu-ray release.

More like over the weekend but my signed picture haul (the majority of it, some I got is of the NSFW variety) from my trip to Animate Philadelphia
The new additions are from
-Darran Norris (Cosmo)
-Suzanne Blakeslee (Wanda)
-Vincent Martello (Phineas)
-David Errigo Jr (Ferb)
-Carlos Alazraqui (Rocko)
-Jamie Marchi (Rias Gremory)
-Butch Hartman (creator of The Fairly Oddparents, Danny Phantom, TUFF Puppy and Bunsen Is A Beast)
-Robbie Daymond (Prompto)

Robbie to my suprise gave me a second one for free when i told him I came all the way from Scotland!

Oh and hours after I came back today i got the Blu Rays I ordered off Amazon.com prior to leaving!

The one I dont think I can show is from when I took a picture with their After Dark burlesque performer guests (the women are wearing pasties!)

EDIT - I almost forgot I got Tara Strong to sign my con badge!.........meeting her on the other hand..........yeah that was a huge letdown

Just a quick off topic reply to the above.

Years ago my parents went to Boston on holiday.
Robert B Parker, author of the Spenser books was signing his latest book and only that one. When they told him I was a long time fan, he signed the other one they were buying.
Must be a Scottish thing.

Dress arrived and it looks cute but rides up a lot on the bust when I lift my arms (also showing my pants at the front then) and the back is also touching the floor which means I can't rly wear it outside without alterations, I would do the alteration to the bottom of the back if the fit were otherwise good but it's not so I'll just return it (it's not too tight BTW just to clarify, the fit issues are unrelated to that), my Last Quarter DVD I'm v happy with though, was brand new and sealed complete with seal strip on the top and comes with rather nicely printed art on the disc and a chapter/scene list for the film on a paper insert as well, I'm really really looking forward to watching it and to receiving my lovely new printer later today as well (the film is in Japanese audio with English subtitles only btw, for anyone who was wondering) :)

2025 HAUL - OCTOBER v1

I got today off from work after working the last nine days straight due to some stuff that happened at work.

2025 Manga Haul - 05.1 - The 100 Girlfriends Vol 13-15 1.jpg
2025 Manga Haul - 05.3 - Booty Royale Omnibus 6-8 1.jpg

#01 | The 100 Girlfriends & Booty Royale Manga Volumes
We start off the month with a new manga pickups haul from online retailer Scifier which was supposed to have arrived back in September but Yodel delayed its shipping. But it's here and like the previous hauls, all in really solid condition and no issues here.

Here we have The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You Manga Volumes 13, 14 & 15 which are currently the latest volumes available in English for the time being, and once again this series is one of my favourites so I'll definitely keep going after the rest.

We also have Booty Royale: Never Go Down Without a Fight! (also known as Hagure Idol: Jigoku-hen aka Stray Idol's Picture of Hell) Manga Omnibus 6, 7 & 8 comprising of Volumes 11-16 which is also up to date for the time being (there's enough to release one more omnibus before the series is up-to-speed).

Switch 2025 Haul - 13 - Super Mario Galaxy 1.jpg

#02 | Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2
During the latest Nintendo Direct, Nintendo celebrated the latest Mario anniversary with a remastered collection of both Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 for the Nintendo Switch (which also includes a free update for Nintendo Switch 2 users).

This is a remaster for both games previously released on the Nintendo Wii. I own the first game on Wii and the 3D All-Stars Switch collection but here it's another version to play. I also never played the second game which I heard was also very good so I'm looking forward to checking that out as well.

PS4 Haul 2025 - 03 - AI The Somnium Files Nirvana & SAO Alicization Lycoris.jpg

#03 | Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris & AI: The Somnium Files: Nirvana Initiative
Arriving last Friday and last Monday are two PlayStation 4 games that I picked up from eBay to slowly wrap up the console collecting. Both arrived in like new condition which was a nice surprise.

We have the visual novel adventure AI: The Somnium Files Nirvana Initiative, the second game in this narrative series by Spike Chunsoft, writer Kotaro Uchikoshi and character designer Yūsuke Kozaki. I've not played the first game but considering the franchise has received a new instalment on Switch I decided to get the second game sooner than later in case it goes up in value.

Also picked up is the anime action RPG Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris, which continues the video game story version of the popular anime/novel series taking place after the events of the likes of Re:Hollow Fragment, Lost Song, Hollow Realization and Fatal Bullet (and I believe the VS Accel World game is not part of the mainline series).

The Island 1.jpg

#04 | The Island
Arriving last Saturday is the latest Eureka Entertainment Masters of Cinema release with The Island (生死線) by director Leong Po-Chih (Hong Kong 1941), starring John Shum Kin-Fun (Yes, Madam!), Ronald Wong (God of Gamblers) and Amy Kwok (The Legend of Fong Sai Yuk 2). The limited edition Blu-ray includes a slipcase and booklet to go with it.

4K Haul - Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Phonician Scheme & Sinners.jpg

#05 | Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, The Phoenician Scheme & Sinners
After payday I decided to order three more films on 4K Ultra HD from Amazon's 3 for £50 deal and went with two films I had seen and one newer film that I did not get the chance to watch at the cinema.

We have Quentin Tarantino's 2019 film Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood starring Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another), Brad Pitt (F1), Margot Robbie (Barbie) and Timothy Olyphant (Alien: Earth), which I last saw back in 2019 at the cinema so I rewatched it and still enjoyed what it had to offer. More of a slice-of-life with a crazy subplot in the background but still has a wild ending.

Wes Anderson's 2025 film The Phoenician Scheme starring Benicio Del Toro (One Battle After Another), Mia Threapleton (Scoop) and Michael Cera (Scott Pilgrim vs the World). This was theatrically released last May and I missed out due to watching a lot of films at that timeframe, and is also my first Wes Anderson film for the collection, and I've not seen any of his catalog (which Criterion has put out most on 4K as of late).

Ryan Coogler's Sinners starring Michael B. Jordan (Creed), Wunmi Mosaku (Loki), Hailee Steinfeld (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) and Jack O’Connell (28 Years Later: The Bone Temple). I watched this in IMAX and was really impressed by the film's concept and direction. The music is very good and the cast were great. Wanted to give this a rewatch due to some assumptions I had ruined the experience a bit.

PS5 Haul 2025 - 10 - Lies of P, Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter & Soul Reaver.jpg

#06 | Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver I & II Remastered, Lies of P & Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter
It was Amazon Prime Day and I decided to pick two games from the sale as they were pretty cheap.

The first is Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver I & II Remastered, which is a collection of two classic games released back on the original PlayStation remastered by Aspyr who worked on the Tomb Raider remasters. This is also part of the Legacy of Kain franchise which has the other games like Blood Omen 1 & 2 and Defiance available on the PlayStation Store as part of the classics range.

The other game is Lies of P by Korean developer Neowiz. This is a Souls-inspired Action RPG and I did play the demo for this game which I enjoyed, though I didn't get far due to not figuring out how to upgrade the abilities to get better. Heard the game as a whole was really good so I got the physical release.

Also here because there was a massive delay due to lack of stock on Amazon's part is the new remake in The Legend of Heroes franchise with Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter. I can now finally start the Trails games even though I do own the original, but that is stuck to PC which is not in the best position for me to play (not enough monitors and/or laptop is near the end of its lifespan). While the originals were distributed by XSEED and the newer instalments distributed by NIS America, it was Clear River Games that managed to get distribution rights for the physical versions. The game is also on Nintendo Switch 1 & 2 but I went with PlayStation 5 because of the visual and performance reasons like the newer Trails games that are in this art style.

Furious Swords and Fantastic Warriors - 07.jpg

#07 | Furious Swords and Fantastic Warriors: The Heroic Cinema of Chang Cheh
Next we have another brand new Eureka Entertainment release for their Shaw Brothers collection is the limited edition Blu-ray set of Furious Swords and Fantastic Warriors: The Heroic Cinema of Chang Cheh, featuring 10 films across 5 Blu-ray discs. This limited edition is also not going to receive any standard editions as far as things stand, so if you want to own any of these films you'll have to get this collection.

The films included here are Men from the Monastery (少林子弟) from 1974, Shaolin Martial Arts (洪拳與詠春) from 1974, King Eagle (鷹王) from 1971, Fantastic Magic Baby (紅孩兒) from 1975, The Weird Man (神通術與小霸王) from 1983, Trail of the Broken Blade (斷腸劍) from 1967, Wandering Swordsman (遊俠兒) from 1970, New Shaolin Boxers (蔡李佛小子) from 1976, Trilogy of Swordsmanship (群英會) from 1972, and Iron Bodyguard (大刀王五) from 1973.
