What did you RECEIVE today? PHOTOS EDITION!

2023 HAUL VER 10.1
(note: images are hosted via AUKN for the meantime)

The first package of the month has appeared and I was lucky enough to receive it as I had to return home early for something else.

Last month I placed an order on Rightstuf, before the whole news broke out, where I decided to trial Stackry with this retailer. And one of the items included in this approach was Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 2 limited edition from Crunchyroll. Given the state of the UK license I decided there was a risk missing out on the limited edition especially considering how popular this isekai is, so I decided to go for the US release. It's Region AB as well so don't worry about that part.

And next we have another Discotek Media haul! It has been a while and the original plan was to sort one out every bi-monthly but the events of August pushed things around (namely the Limited Run Games VGP surprise restock of OOP titles). Never-the-less we have a batch here which is a simpler one as we have more Lupin the Third TV Specials to catch-up on as well as two rather old Blu-ray releases that I wanted to secure before they would sell out.

IMG_20231002_173016.jpg

Starting off with those old Blu-ray releases with Getter Robo Armageddon and Tekkaman Blade II. These were released by Discotek Media in 2016 and are one of their earliest titles for the format. I believe Getter Robo is their first slipcase title for Blu-ray as well. I like Go Nagai and their Getter Robo titles were released a while back and this is one of them. Tekkaman Blade II is one that I had been wanting to own for months and the reason its taken this long is because its been out of stock for ages. Chances are its on its last remaining at this point. Both titles are Region A locked.

Next are the Lupin the Third TV Specials. Going to mention them in order of their Japanese release this time around. These three are Lupin III: The Pursuit of Harimao's Treasure, Special #7 from 1995, Lupin III: The Secret of Twilight Gemini, Special #8 from 1996, and Lupin III: Tokyo Crisis, Special #10 from 1998. These were released by Discotek Media between October to December 2020, and each of these include their Funimation English dubs. All three are Region A locked, though you will be stuck on a liner note page if you played The Pursuit of Harimao's Treasure on Region B.

Then we have Lupin III: The Columbus Files, Special #11 from 1999, Lupin III: Missed by a Dollar, Special #12 from 2000, and Lupin III: The Elusiveness of the Fog, Special #19 from 2007. The former two both include their Funimation English dubs, whilst the newer special is subtitled only. Lupin III: Missed by a Dollar will work via Top-Menu button method, whilst the other two are both Region A locked.

So as mentioned, this was ordered to Stackry and arrived today. $220 order + $31.99 shipping via Global Mail (the high price is due to 4.2lb weight thanks to Rightstuf packaging). Cleared UK customs and arrived via Evri. Saved £60 as a result.

I received three Aniplex of America sets in the mail today from Rightstuf:

Darwin's Game
Vivy Fluorite Eye's Song
Sword Art Online Progressive Movie Aria of a Starless Night Limited Edition

Zavvi sale items arrived
loved Death Parade when it aired and really want to watch it again, shame the original Death Billiards OVA isn't included
liked Chunibyo TV series and a recap movie is worth a fiver but no more imo
never seen Wicked City/Demon City and their rep isn't great, but 80s OVAs for cheap is worth a look
... and Demon Lord ... look I was a bit drunk when ordering, OK!

I'm yet to watch my copy of Death Parade but I'm pretty sure it's supposed to include Death Billiards right? I have the UK LE but I would assume the discs are exactly the same. I'll need to check my copy.

Flying Witch pre-order arrived this morning along with my Rarewaves order of Yona of the Dawn.

Flying Witch (Limited Edition) (BD) and Yona of the Dawn (Limited Edition) (BD)

The Flying Witch LE is a lovely little set but I have a few nitpicks with it, one was that everything was tightly packed in and once I removed the contents and tried to put them back in it started expanding the box so I have had to store the art cards separately to avoid damage. Secondly the spine is the reverse way round, as pictured below this can be fixed by having the set upside down (and unlike DBS: SH won't look odd) so both fixable options but still, slight disappointment, especially for one of my favourite series.

For something more positive though, now I own Yona of the Dawn I am pretty sure I own all the Funimation UK exclusive limited editions they did during that period of time. Such a shame they didn't continue, we would had likely got some great ones.

Yes the reverse spine was annoying to see when I opened the stock. We have a new designer so will have to mention this to him for upcoming CEs providing they haven't gone through to printing. But as you say, it can just be flipped and doesn't look out of place.

Ah, thank you for clarifying, I was thinking if it may had been a printing error originally or something similar. Still a nice set all the same.

2023 HAUL VER 10.2
(note: images are hosted via AUKN for the meantime)

We have two more smaller packages today. Very likely to be the last I reveal on a weekday until my days off work.

The one Hong Kong film that I don't pre-order ends up selling out the most. No clue how that happened (either lower print run or its more popular than I had anticipated) but either way I managed to get Corey Yuen's 1990 film She Shoots Straight (皇家女將) on Blu-ray from Eureka Entertainment. Like the other Eureka Classics titles, this comes with a slipcase, alternate artwork (the film was also known as Lethal Lady) and a booklet.

It's been a while since I picked up the previous seasons but thanks to the Rarewaves sale I finally bought Black Clover Seasons 3 & 4 for pretty good value. These cover episodes 103 to 170 so I now own all of the first series. While I have read the first three volumes I haven't decided if I want to jump into the anime then read more of the manga afterwards (because reading the source material first then watching the adaptation can mess with your expectations).
