Those keys are a total ******* con. If you can get someone to cut you one without a chip for about £12 (as long as you don't go to a dealership you can just lie and say it doesn't have one) then you can remove the chip from your old one and glue it to the steering column. All it needs is for the chip to be near the ignition.Chaz said:An expensive (total amout) £125 key for my car... WTF?!
£50 maybe, cuz it's got a chip programmed into it, but this is extra-ordinary!!
Nah, what I mean is, if you take the chip out of your original key and stick it near the ignition, not only can you still use the key you took it out of, but any subsequent keys you have cut don't need to have chips in either. The only thing the car does is check to see there is a chip near the ignition. Too late now anyway, but it could be useful for next time.Chaz said:If I removed the chip from the only key I have atm, then I would be back to square one, with an extra piece of plastic/metal and still £125 short...

Could also be useful for anyone who breaks into his car
