Wargamers of AUKN, unite!

Just thought i'd bring this to peoples attention (every little helps and all that)

Maelstrom Games sent me an email with a 16% voucher code (www.maelstromgames.co.uk) Voucher code ends on Monday the 19th of March 2012 at midnight (GMT),

Voucher code is: DARK-NIGHT-BLUES

Looking at my bank account for this month and wondering if i can push the £30 for a razorback and land speeder storm. (seen a storm raven recently and really want one but can't see them cheap anywhere!!)

Bought myself a Razorback tank and another tactical squad :)

I should then have an army of 30 marines, 2 dreadnoughts and a razorback :) small but if i was able to use my Tau army aswell i have a piranha, 15 fire warriors, some kroot, stealth squad, a crisis battlesuit and Devilfish and god knows how many droids lol :p

What chapter have you painted your Marines Tach? Just working on some modern, multi part plastic Space Marines myself.

Will cleaning these mould lines and filling and filing these gaps never end? How I yearn for the soft, malleable, toxic nature of lead...

I've made my own chapter still juggling between a few names, one i like right now is "Chaos Breachers/Breakers" Majority of armour is black with white grey drybrush for definition, shoulder pads are crimson red with silver lining, leg guards are also crimson and the aquila on the chest piece is silver.

Though the silver lining isn't alligned to a particular company the closest thing they can come to is the 1st company veteran white lining. The main focus of my chapter is to look similar enough to chaos to breach their ranks and attack from within, sort of an espionage chapter.

Still feels unfinished though, I have half of a company though: 2 tactical squads (10 men strong with a flamer and missile launcher/dev per squad that i may make into specific deva squads when i get more marines) another tactical squad and razorback are in the post and have my 2 dreadnoughts already painted up. so another 3 tact squads, scouts and an assault squad to go.

Really want to get my hands on an apothecary and i've ordered a Chaplain but the one i really want is this one:

ConsulTerminatorChaplain01.jpg

But the one i have bought is this one due to money being tight right now:
space-marine-chaplain.jpg

How about you Ayase? Which chapter/colours are you using?

BTW to anyone playing Tau, i've ordered a boxset of 15 firewarriors and 2 droids BNIB but i don't think i'll continue to collect tau so if anyone wants em i'm free for any offers.

Dark Angels, though I'm toying with making this particular squad either Consecrators or original pre-Heresy DAs, as they're all going to be in MkVI armour. I have a rather large number of marines to build from a big box I got at a discount a couple of years ago, with that and my DA veterans box I have enough to put a whole squad of "beakies" together - I always wanted to do that.

After a very brief initial stint modelling Blood Angels, I've been painting Dark Angels since about 1997 (though most of my surviving metal minis just took a bath in Dettol for a repaint). Making your own Chapter is great, not many people seem to do it these days (probably because it requires a bit more imagination). I just used your code to order a box of Terminators so cheers for that. My veterans set had a load of Chapter specific Terminator parts to tempt me, damn it. GW know what they're doing, don't they?

And that's a little weird, I was just looking at the website yesterday and thinking that Terminator Chaplain you're after is probably one of the best minis GW has produced in years... Very tempted to get one (when I have the cash to spare also!) and paint it Deathwing colours similar to the one shown here.

The Beak helmets were one of the things that brought me into SM to begin with, i bought a blister metal beaky back when i was 13-14 so some 7-8 years ago but i gave away my tactical squad, scout squad and beaky with melta when i was 16, regret that now though :/ i thought "im done with this" yet a few years later the Tau dragged me back into it and now i'm building my SM anew (just when you think your out.... they drag you back in, kudos if you know the quote)

The first that i heard of the BA was back when i first got into 40k, my friend lent me a yellow book with BA on it, read abit of the fluff in it and thought "they are pretty cool actually" but my main jealousy of the BA is their storm raven. I strangely enough like that dropship and a damn site cheaper than a thunderhawk. Good to see the code came in use for someone :) and GW know exactly which buttons to press to get people spending, i like their tactics but dislike my bank account right now lol.

I can't see the link, for some strange reason the work pc has blocked the site but i'll give it a look at home. That Terminator Chaplain is the dogs balls, i have a weakness for that chaplain type, the look of the apothecaries and techmarines too, so much so that i put together a tech servitor using spare bitz from my last tact squad sprues. Plasma pistol with servo arm and another arm with a sensor - i did have to "wing it" with half of the servitor as i didn't have a full torso or legs so it looks alittle out of place being made up of pockets and satchels lol.

3.35 - Just bought an Apothecary from ebay ^___^ very happy with the price, managed to get it for £3.

Dark Sphere! That's where I got my big box o' Marines from ages ago! I forgot the name and couldn't find it again; well done for digging it up Tach, they probably have the best Warhammer prices on the 'net.

Went to the sorting office to collect my Terminators yesterday. While putting them together, I noticed that with all the extra Dark Angels veteran parts I have (plus the spare parts on the Termie sprue) I was only one torso back away from being able to assemble a sixth mini... two quid on eBay later and one is in the post. Excellent.

Haha glad i could be an assistance.

As for me, i've run out of glue so on the way home tonight i'll have to stop off in town and buy some more for 37p (bargain)

I have roughly 3 more marines to do out of my 3rd tactical squad and my second razorback to glue up and paint.

My army thus far:
Commander (from A.O.B.R boxset)
Chaplain (Metal)
Apothecary (Metal)
30 Marines (3 missile launchers, 3 flamers)
Standard bearer (in progress)
2 Dreadnoughts with multi-meltas (A.O.B.R)
2 Razorback tanks
Kayvaan Shrike custom made (beaky with jump pack and power swords instead of lightening claws)

What's in your army atm ayase? i haven't totted up the points but from the chaplain razorbacks and dreads i was looking roughly 50, the rest tact squads maybe 400 or so.

Oh and i've decided to change my colour scheme, i've learnt to really like the look of the salamanders :) ofcorse silver shoulder plate rims will be staying though lol.

Never did answer this, did I? As I'm waiting for the glue to dry on my Deathwing at 4am I might as well.

Slowly being assembled from the huge Apocalypse box, I have enough to make four tactical squads, two assault squads and two devastator squads (and eight f*cking Rhinos, it's not like anyone would ever field that many and it's enough of a chore to assemble and paint one - I can safely say they'll be the last thing to be completed, if not sold off) and my DA veterans box, which I'm going to use for sergeants and characters. Then there are my new termies, combined assault and standard, which I'll have twelve of rather than ten thanks to my veteran parts and a couple of purchased torsos. That's all the new, modern stuff.

Old stuff I've dug out (which hasn't been written off thanks to amateur teenage attempts at conversion) comprises an old school apothecary and techmarine, a captain and a terminator captain (this guy - I like him a lot, loads of character) 8/10 members of a metal tactical squad (who may have to play amputees as so far I haven't found their arms*), three scouts, three bikes and a really nice old metal dreadnought which I'm in the process of repainting. I should have an old predator tank somewhere as well, but I haven't found it yet.

So plenty to be going on with, anyway. I'm hearing a lot of rumours about new Dark Angels, which is both exciting and worrying as a potential threat to my bank balance.

*Actually, that could form the basis of a battle scenario - You're called in to rescue the disabled veterans outing which took a wrong turn and ended up in the Eye of Terror. Those with one arm can still deal some damage, but the others can only run away and you have to fight your way to them to prevent them all from dying.

Ayase, you could use some of those Rhinos to make other vehicles. Check out the Forgeworld website, the sell resin tank parts you could use. :)

There are certainly some excellent kits at Forgeworld, I particularly like this Predator as it reminds me of the old one I've lost (I've already put the lights lower down like that on the first Rhino I've assembled as a homage to the Mk1 tanks) but it looks like that only comes as a complete kit! The Razorback conversion kits are reasonably priced, but I'll probably leave Forgeworld well alone until I'm in gainful employment again...

How much would you be willing to sell a rhino for? :p

I know they take a long time to build, i built my first razorback weeks ago but haven't bothered with my second yet.

I'll actually be seeing a relative who might be interested in taking some bits off my hands this weekend, but if he's not I'll get back to you guys... That's if I don't decide in the meantime to go all out and create Ayase's Crazy Tank Battalion after all. ;)

lol eitherway keep us posted :p

I've purchased a metal techmarine, perfect bar 1 main issue, it didn't come with the metal axe that i wanted the model for.

Needless to say a mostly blind buy off ebay for a bargain, its not too bad really.

I just remembered this thread when you posted in general convo Tach, apologies to you and Mutsumi. Visiting relative did actually take two Rhinos, and I've decided to keep the remaining six as the more I think about those Razorback conversion kits the more I like the idea.

I'm about done tarting up my old metal Dreadnought and am now in the process of painting my Company Captain and Champion, who I've put together with bits from both these dudes. Very pleased with how they're looking so far, I might post a pic when they're finished.

Just went to the GW site and noticed that Terminator Chaplain I was after is marked "no longer available", meaning it's likely to return in Finecast form. Bugger.

My experiences with Finecast so far are... well, that it's crap basically. It's more like plastic foam than resin, has bubbles in more often than not and there is no way in Hell it should cost more than metal, especially as it's no secret the reason GW are phasing out metal is due to the high costs!

The metal minis on eBay are already going up in price - if anyone sees it available anywhere please let me know. I don't want to pay more for an inferior product.

Your kidding me!

I've been after buying that Chaplain for a while now but never had the spare money to buy one. The Chaplain in Terminator armour with the right hand horizontal with a dual bolter looked the dogs gonads.
