A couple of new boxarts I spotted on Amazon

The designer needs to be fired... period  .

The Girls und Panzer cover is missing the OVA collection placement on the spine, and Accel World looks terrible.

That's partially because they're using the Japanese Vol 2 BD cover for the main artwork here with the awkward title placement like Viz. The Japanese Vol 1 BD artwork (Which Viz used for part 2) SHOULD have been the art for Part 1, whilst the art for Vol 8 should have been used for part 2 IMO. But yeah, the front cover is covered in logo's as usual, the back cover is pretty bad (and I don't think anyone will read that essay of a description), and the spine once again is just logo's with Part One poorly edited in like the other recent releases.

It also doesn't look like this will be the same as Viz's release (which was almost flawless video and audio quality wise), since the audio is DTS HD-MA instead of PCM.

I was considering double dipping seeing as I really like Accel World, but an ugly release which is potentially inferior to the one I have isn't likely to sway me anytime soon.

I actually quite like the design. It sticks close to the Japanese set's design whilst still working pretty well.
The only thing I would have preferred is having the Japanese TTGL text on the spine with Gurren Lagann layered over it, but that's merely personal preference.

This is only the work-in-progress mind. They still need to add things like the BBFC rating and so forth.
Somebody didn't read the post?

WHAT’S INSIDE THE BOX? WHERE’S THE BBFC LOGO?

Packaging + Physical information:

- O-CARD around box (not pictured) with BBFC, Anime Ltd logo and different artwork on it.
I do wonder what the design for the O-Card would be. I'd love it if they could use the design AniplexUSA used for their DVD set (Which was also the JP DVD set cover?)

I'm probably gonna incite some hate for saying this but I don't like the look of the art box. I love what i'm guessing is the digipack sleeve (shoulda used that as the cover) but the box just doesn't do it for me...

And on a side note is anybody surprised about the delay? way back when they announced a June release I knew it'd never happen, it's kinda their tradition now i'm sad to say and it's a bit crap for all the people holding out for the standard DVD and Blu ray edition as they probably won't ship until 2015.

Nice design, but it annoys me that the My Gurren is Shiny OVA that came with the DS game isn't included. Did the Aniplex sets include it? Since they are delaying it that far back, they may as well throw us a bone. Hopefully they can release in another release, similar to the HOTD Drifters of the Dead release.

Apparently the DS episode wasn't translated in the Aniplex USA set if I read that correctly in the article.

At least the only problem AL has now is approving the art-book.

Why would you say that on the delay? It's the same masters we'll be using and I have the DVD check discs right here too for the English edition.

Whatever delay incurred to the Ultimate Edition, the street date of the regular ones will remain unaffected. I won't punish anyone for a delay that's our fault there :).

No point apologising or scraping over delays becoming our "thing" now. Just got to work hard over the next year to get past that and upwards - which is why I am so cautious about laying Q3 and Q4 scheduling out.

Best,

Andrew

I was assuming you'd still be leaving a set time frame between the Ultimate Edition and the standards to help maximize sales. If they are still the same then I apologise for my assumptions :)

On the topic of delays I mean no disrespect and understand you're still finding your feet. As someone who has preordered almost everyone of your releases (both Ultimate & DVD edition of Gurren Lagann! :p) every time I see another delay it does make me a little sad that it has to happen. I'm sure once you find your feet they'll be few and far between :)

TTGL looking great, kinda funny seeing the reverse layout from my Japanese set here.

Hats off to MVM for the great job with the Fate/Zero release. You can see pictures of my set here.

The back of the Amaray actually looks great on this one too. FYI, I changed the blue Amaray to clear for my set.

Great pictures! Where do you get the replacement Clear Blu ray cases? the only places I've found them are Amazon.com (who won't ship them to the UK) and ebay from a Canadian seller...

That does look really nice, same art as the 2 US box sets but I think I prefer the shiny box as opposed to the slightly dull fabric effect the US sets have. The spines also very nice but I agree clear boxes would of been superior compared to blue.

Re. Fate/Zero

For those who are considering the DVD collectors, compared to the Blu-ray edition - the DVD release has one less logo (no DVD logo) and no Madman logo on the disks (which are pink instead of white). Clear case too.
