Looks really good. Nice chipboard.

I hope they have left the back free of logos. The DVD spine is 50% logos. :\

Looks like the important info is on the bottom of the box, and with any luck they are doing what funi does and have a single page of info that's stuck to the inside of the shirnk wrap and not the art box itself.

I'm liking the chipboard art box for Fate/Zero, I was fully expecting a flimsy one like FMA:B. I might have to pick this up straight away instead of waiting.

We like how it turned out too. Is nice to have done an artstyle box again. We knew we were going to go with the rigid art case when we chose to do it this way, similar to our artbox collections of past.

It looks gorgeous, can't wait for mine to arrive. If this release sells well would you consider doing it again?

We'd definitely like to do more collector's editions. Pre sales are showing well for both versions [on a side note these are limited to just 1000] so it is possible we'll look at doing it again.

Depending on the anime, I'd be one of those customers. :)

As a question to the MVM Representative how much do the chipboard art boxes cost to produce? I, and I assume a great number of other people would be willing to pay to get one for previously released series, Bakemonogatari & Nisemonogatari blu rays being great examples.

You could sell them through your Play.com store or Anime-On-Line.com. Considering the Limited Fate/Zero is currently £3.50 more than the standard and the amount FUNi charge for their limited editions I think people would be willing to pay up to £5 just to get the box.

You could even do extra copies of the Fate/Zero box for people who only get the standard (or need a replacement). :)

I think it'd be a dangerous assumption that a 'great number' of people would go back and buy box, some would yes, but considering MvM would have to do a bulk order of boxes could they reasonably expect enough of them to be sold to cover that expense? and while £3-£5 for a box sounds good, you need to add postage ontop of that.

If anything I think this is a sign post that boxes are a good idea for future releases that have a high profile.

It may indeed be a dangerous assumption, hence the opening question being how much the production cost was :p

From what I've read Bakemonogatari was a pretty good seller and if realistically the production cost was say £2 per box (pure guess, I know O Cards cost 10p - 20p each) on a possible print run of say 100 - 200 boxes.

You're obviously not making them to shift them in a month. I'm saying to sell them on websites to the fans that want them :)

Remember that even if they're just selling the boxes on their own to fans, they still take up space (which costs money). I don't think the industry here is big enough to support a large order, though selling a few spares from a main print run is probably doable. I don't know how many people would suddenly want to upgrade from standard just for a box after the purchase was already made.

But yes, more boxes with series high profile enough to support them can never be a bad thing!

Final cover for Great Guardians, everything is the same including the broken pic at the back. The title is rated 18 and uncut.

If the industry [in terms of shop retail] was as strong as it once was, we'd still be doing art boxes. Unfortunately places like HMV and Virgin/Zavvi were complaining that they took up too much space on the shelf and that customer's didn't like them blahblah. So it was a case of either continuing or adhere to their cries and start doing the collections we have now.

In regards to doing extra copies we won't be doing another print run - the art box is limited to just 1000 [for both DVD and BD] and almost half has already sold just on pre orders alone.

Considering how well Fate/Zero is doing with the art box on pre orders it is certainly something we'll be looking into more with other releases. But it's not something we'd want to do on everything we release [simply because not everything would sell as well]. It would most likely just apply to big name titles/sellers, but even then it's extra work/costs etc. And having to get approval with Japanese studios. But we will definitely look into it more.

I actually really like the standard cover :p Silly as it sounds I like my blu rays to be uniform. So I like that Anime Limited have kept a single pattern with all there releases, company logo, rating, title all in the same place (unlike Manga and MVM). :)
