Both Durarara cover arts look... messy. I keep looking at the Blu-ray cover but can't work out what exactly I'm supposed to be seeing. The insides are great, though.

Durarara is going to be a real test of Anime Limited's subtitling prowess. There's a lot of on-screen text in that show. No way I'm ordering before someone confirms it's not a Kaze-esque fustercluck /o\

Doesn't have to be, was all managed by Siren and we shared the costs as they released sooner than us :). So if you've heard no wails by now from that territory - you're safe :).

Is the Durarara slipcase spine going to be reversed, os its consistent with the other releases?

I presume since theres a Complete Cowboy Bebop set coming later this year on blu ray, I presume the replacement program can ignite around the time that sets released?

I have Siren's Penguindrum release. The subtitling is passable but not entirely free of issues. This isn't really the thread to discuss it, though.

Since folk asked so nicely and we're not at print, why not :). And for BD of Bebop - yarp :).

I like how the colours on the spine of Garden of Words have been changed to fit with the rest of the colour/design scheme.
I feel that the Blue logo and Blue bit at the bottom of the spine looks bad on the Durarara set in particular and that it would benefit from the same treatment. There's just too many different bright colours on the spine.
I know that Andrew wants to emphasise that this is a limited numbered run, but do we really need that bit in the banner on the spine? Surely it would be better to put that information on the Top or Bottom of the Box.
I'm unsure of what to make of the cover though. The DVD coverart looks much better, but the title and text on the BD looks better than the badge. Part of the reason I don't like the BD artwork is because I don't like the mix of the Anime art on the top, and LN art on the bottom.
I'm assuming that the two images of the Digipack and art cards are just the reverse sides rather than what is actually included?

Re numbering - we're actually switching this to on one of the postcards per unit for ease and to not clutter the box up at all :).

As for the colours - red is set as film and blue as TV series hence the colouring there as was a decision by our newly established production manager to set them that way :). Works for Garden of Words well but sometimes will stand out more than others - sorry!

Re cover - the idea was street-poster style, so that's why the alternation because the front cover is meant to look like someone's ripped part of the banner off :).

Re art cards - not sure I follow?

Best,

Yeah, I did word it badly. Basically I'm assuming the Postcards and Digipack are double sided, and that the DVD/BD pictures each show one side?
Or are the art cards included in the DVD CE different to the BD one?

RE: Numbering, wouldn't it work better on the Top or Bottom of the box? It's still easily visible then. I believe Geneon did that with Last Exile or something like that.

Also I did ask this on twitter but I'll ask again while you're around, do you know if Daikon Bros/Outlaw Star will be PAL or NTSC? I'd rather they were NTSC so there's no speedup.

Hot damn that Durarara set looks GORGEOUS. I do prefer the cover-art of the DVD release though (and I actually like the logo) but I want the HD-ness of the blu-ray... I also love how on both the DVD and Blu-ray covers, it looks as if the artwork is "interacting" with the release (such as the dent in the logo on the DVD release and the rip on the Blu-Ray). Blu-ray has much cooler art cards though.

I'm not a huge fan of the DVD and Blu-Ray releases of various shows having different artwork, mainly because it's just my bad luck in that I tend to prefer the DVD artwork, yet want the blu-ray xD. I'm curious what the reasoning behind that decision was? Is it like, a consolation prize for people without blu-ray yet, or a desire to use as many art assets as possible (to be fair, receiving art assets is like Christmas morning).

The DRRR artwork looks great for both versions, might give the BD release a try after all.

Garden of Words has nice art too, still won't persuade me to buy it as I found the film to be a total snoozefest.

Fixed logo positioning on the box to be the right way round folks, nice find!

Fab. Looks to be a great release as usual. If any errors crop up, push it back if you need to, I don’t really mind, since I’d rather have a pushed back release that ends up being very high quality, compared to a certain company which doesn’t address certain errors and releases a rubbish product anyway *cough cough Manga’s UK release of Freedom *cough cough*

When is the TTGL Gurren Dan Edition design being released? Curious about what it looks like.

Also, what day this week will the AL Kickstarter… kick start? Also, since its being aimed at both America and Europe, will the product be region 1-2 or just the standard region 2?

Should be OK - but we'll see!

June 2nd release - but hope to have a preview up in April time latest, probably sooner but approval on this kind of property can take time sadly!

Region 1-2, we have UK and US rights :). Which is why the Kickstarter makes sense in this particular case!

Very best,

AP

You should try getting US rights to Welcome to the Space Show since no-one over there seem interested in releasing it, even with the dub already done (unless that's because the price is sky high due to Aniplex wanting to recoup the dubbing costs...)
For that matter, Brave Story has never been released over there and that's got a mystery US dub attached.

MVM really need to stick with one template and keep it, these designs are terrible. And get rid of that disc count (especially on the spine) it just ruins the design, especially when it comes to sequels (i.e. Bakemonogatari vs Nisemonogatari).

Interesting enough, Night Raid is NTSC format.

You speak as if MVM's designs aren't always terrible.
