Nisemonogatari v2 turned up today. Strangely, there's no BBFC logo on the spine. Normally this would be a cause for celebration, but there is one of the spine of v1. Not a huge issue. Maybe not much of an issue at all. But now they look a bit odd sitting next to one another on the shelf, which is annoying since otherwise I like the designs.

I wonder if it was a mistake or whether MVM will be doing the same with future titles. I certainly wouldn't object to the latter.

Sadly just a mistake. It'll be on there when we reprint - consider this version some sort of limited special.

Don't you only have to put a logo on the spine if it's over a certain width?

On a secondary note, why do I never see MVM releases in HMV? not seen any a recent release for 6+ months in any of the HMVs I've visited. I know the internet is a lot more convenient these days but it seems odd not to see releases in what is basically the last high street retailer to stock Anime.

You must just have a crap HMV. The one here has most of them.

Well the thing is, it's not just my local HMV. It's the 3 other HMV's that I've had the chance to visit within the 30-40 mile distance from my home. They have older MVM stuff still on their shelves, but no sign of recent releases, while they have plenty of Manga/Kaze.

How bizarre. Most of them time it seems fairly random what they have in anyway.

The thing is that they seem to always have the latest Manga releases without fail, UBW on BD was a couple of weeks late true but otherwise they've had copies of everything Manga release on shelf on release day. Made me wonder if MVM had abandoned the high street in favour of an online only approach, or if they'd been burned with HMV going into administration and refused to deal with them.

While we're on the subject of BBFC logos and MVM releases, I just found out that the Christmas Special disc in the love Hina complete series set is missing it's BBFC rating logo (which if I remember correctly isn't legal).

HMV is pretty much the only video store left around here, and you're more likely to see Manga than MVM stuff. At least it's better than Beez; back in the singles days I don't think I ever saw any volume of a Beez title higher than 3 or 4 in any store.

That's an awesome Durarara!! set (if only the spine title was on the correct side, EDIT: Contacted them about it, it's just to help the designers for the final version since it's based on Europe's release) and a nice Garden of Words cover art. Will be pre-ordering once the prices are up on Amazon.

I'm tempted too. What's with the number on the spine? Are they individually numbered?

These are 'Collector's Edition' sets that Anime Limited are doing, each one has a number going up to the maximum amount of stock. Gurren Lagann's Ultimate 'Gurren-dan' Edition for instance will only have 2000. It's just to show who bought the set since once that number goes, it will be sold out/out of print.

Oh, and here's Manga UK promoting Kaze UK's re-release of Persona 4: The Animation.

BRILLIANT SETS! both look great, can't wait to see what they have in store for us with TTGL

What do you mean by this? the text going in the wrong direction?

Both Durarara cover arts look... messy. I keep looking at the Blu-ray cover but can't work out what exactly I'm supposed to be seeing. The insides are great, though.

Durarara is going to be a real test of Anime Limited's subtitling prowess. There's a lot of on-screen text in that show. No way I'm ordering before someone confirms it's not a Kaze-esque fustercluck /o\

In Europe, the title of the series is on the opposite side in comparison to ours (except for Kaze UK titles). It's nothing major (no hate intended) but those who collect stuff can get tacked off when something like this occurs on the shelf. Manga Force also did this for their DVD collection sets years back.

^^So you mean how the text on the spine is read bottom to top in those images rather than top to bottom? Yeah i'd prefer it flipped for conformity sake :)

yeah that.

That's a good point because of the phone sequences. I heard Aniplex ignored the signs only track for this series so I hope the UK/AU version is top notch like Monogatari.

Doesn't have to be, was all managed by Siren and we shared the costs as they released sooner than us :). So if you've heard no wails by now from that territory - you're safe :).
