I think he was talking about Snow White with red hair.

I'm heavily turned off by both the packaging, and the fact that PC's releases aren't even Japanese quality when it comes to on disc content.DragonBlaze67 said:I'd be interested to know how well Pony Canyon's USA releases actually sell. I really can't see why anyone would spend £60-70 (going by UP1/UP1USA) for just 4 episodes which ends up being around £200 for just a 1 cour show.

Rui said:To answer the possibly-rhetorical question I was pleased when Ponycan announced a premium edition of Cute High Earth Defense Love as I really enjoyed the show. I was less happy when I bought it all and discovered that compromises were made to make the release worse than the Japanese version; there were even locked subtitles on something so expensive, which is just rude. I don't even mind the dorky packaging, but deliberately reducing the quality of the on-disc content is something you cannot get away with at that price point.

Buzz201 said:Aside from the locked subtitles, were there any actual problems with the disc or was it simply not a Japanese disc? Because I can understand creating a new master for the English market (theoretically that's exactly what Aniplex of America do), but why they wouldn't max the specs out on the discs they do create is beyond me...
Rui said:It wasn't so severe as the Sentai-style video downgrades; there were complaints that the previews were truncated abruptly. I know it's nitpicky but they're charging a small fortune and I'd rather go for the Japanese releases from now on if I can't have faith in the quality of what I'm buying, especially as their own marketing team has promised that their mission is as follows: "We would like to bring high-quality animation that was produced in Japan to North American fans while keeping the quality intact as much as possible."
If it's only 'as much as possible' I expect to see a full itemised list of downgrades before preordering so that I can make an informed choice :/
I'd rather they just used Japanese discs and sold the same discs in Japan with the English subtitles attached to give everyone a choice. By the time you take into account the availability of highly desirable bonus items in Japan versus the cost of importing through a grey import company, the Ponycan USA versions aren't a good deal for Japanese customers anyway.
