Didn't expect anything less when it came to the art for the Index movie. Same as the Japanese release.
I'll definitely be double dipping when it comes out (I have the lovely subless JP LE). Now Funi just need to announce when they'll be putting out Railgun S on BD so I can have more 900p Raildex goodness.

I'd actually be quite tempted to get this over the UK edition considering it's got 5.1 dub audio, on disc extras and nice packaging.
The two things which are holding me back are the lack of an art book, and Funimation still seemingly encoding to fit everything on 1 BD50 and 1 BD25 like 99% of their other releases.
Their releases have been very hit and miss in regards to video quality recently, and 10 episodes on disc 1 isn't very encouraging.

I'm tempted as well and the price point also makes a difference not to mention (UK CE SRP £59.99 [£49.99 on All the Anime Shop] vs US LE SRP £44.99 [~£32 (exc. P&P) on UP1 USA]). I'll wait and see when they both get released before I decide for now.

Another thing is that I never really liked the art that's being used for the UK LE, whereas the US design looks great. Personally I'm also not really a fan of AllTheAnime's standardized spine design/strip on the front as I find it kind of ugly and detracts from the overall design.
I'd much prefer a Sentai/Funimation LE type spine that looks cleaner.

True I guess but after noticing the way Giovanni's Island was handled (like Kill la Kill but the spine is clean completely), maybe their future sets (like for instance Tokyo Ghoul & Zankyou no Terror) could use that format so that it would look like a US artbox.

Updated the Space Dandy artwork post to include the Amazon Exclusive edition. It's basically like Funimations but uses the Aloha 'oe Crew theme instead. Official Release date is also included.

Just to recap with regards to Funimation's February line-up (NOT FINAL):
- .hack//SIGN: Complete Series ~ 24 February
- A Certain Magical Index the Movie: Miracle of Endymion ~ 24 February (Amazon notes 13 January which is probably one of those monthly exclusive releases similar to Fairy Tail & One Piece)
- Ben-To: Complete Series (Standard & LE) ~ 03 February (this version was delayed due to receiving Broadcast Edit version, now we have the Uncut edition!)
- Space Dandy: Season 1 (Standard, LE & two Premium Exclusives) ~ 17 February

UPDATE: Included Sentai's March line up and their disc counts

Could they seriously not pick anything better for the Zero no Tsukaima artwork? Sentai's choice of artwork is generally very good, but every so often they like to use these fanservicey ******** covers like ZnT 2 and Henneko.

The Log Horizon covers are so boring. Sure, the Japanese artwork wasn't really that amazing either, but still. Blech.

And yeah, Sentai need to restrain themselves when it comes to fanservicey covers.

Remember the Hentai Prince and the Stony Cat? Perfectly fine cover until they decided to trade it for two girls in bikinis or lingerie or whatever it was >_>

Those sets do look lovely, but every time I see prices like that, it kinda makes me glad - for all its sins - that the UK market is the way it is compared to America.

For those interested too - second set will also have an artbook with it and we're planning a box to hold the series in that will include an exclusive artwork commissioned by Yoshiyuki Ito (the character designer for Dandy). Also obviously a standard edition selling for £28.75 or so on Amazon right now which is out not long after the UK LE :).

Our release is also 2 x BD50s for those interested spread equally for anyone interested :).

Best,

AP

Ooooh nearly missed this, sounds great and I can't wait :) Fingers crossed it's somewhere about half way in to the year rather than this time next year
