This is impressive. It looks pretty much like a Japanese Blu-ray Disc Box in terms of the concept, now as a H.O.T.D. fan will I buy the set? Probably but £75 is still steep for a series that's been out already in 4 years. I can probably guess it won't sell out as quick as Toradora! since [1] everyone already has a copy [2] people don't like to spend Aniplex style prices [3] a cheaper version is already out there.
I'm willing to double dip since I love the franchise but I'll wait and see how the QC goes when people already have a copy. If it's instantly available on UP1, I'll pick it up then.
The series is available on November 4th 2014 and contains the following:
- 5 discs; 2 Blu-ray and 3 DVD with all 12 bilingual episodes + the Drifters of the Dead OVA (also in bilingual form)
- Chipboard artbox with digipack packaging
- Special Book of Illustrations and Short Novels
- Bandana
- Parking Sticker
- 4 Postcards
- Clean Opening and Closing Animations
*bilingual refers to English dub and original Japanese language with English subtitles
Looks really good. I want it but I prefer to stick to discs that are B coded. If this works with the standard Sentai trick, I may this once get a release that isn't B coded.
Holy christ, that's massive. Looks really good too - but yeah, don't think I could ever justify that price for a show that I already have/has been out for ages.
Lovely release but I don't want to buy it a second time and don't care enough about the series to sell my old copy for an upgrade. I wish western companies would understand that you need to get the special edition out first rather than screwing the early adopters over later on ;p
The HotD LE is quite spectacular to look at and I would love to own it, but I agree it's overpriced. I'm struggling to work out just who the release is aimed at.
For £75 that is not worth it, for that price I was hoping they'd through in the full colour manga too. If it were £50 then maybe I'll bite.
I also dislike digi packaging, but luckily no over layering discs, so I guess that is not as bad.
Not a fan of digipacks either but they don't put me off buying that much. Not keen on the bandana though. would have been better if the bandana was replaced with something like a mini wall scroll with Saeko on it.
Looks nice, but I have the UK BD and US Drifters BD so I'm not really in the market for a 2nd copy of something that's basically just a bunch of frilly extras over what I own already.
Credit to Fandom Post user Rhys, here's the back/reverse for Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt Anime Classics:
This is the first time I have ever seen a reversible cover with the title on the spine for an Anime Classic title.

Looks like Valvrave is receiving a non-Limited Edition Subtitle only Blu-ray release. I'll assume Nisekoi is doing the same. Interesting trend, no wonder these two were pretty much barebones.
Rightstuf is now starting to ship the Attack on Titan Part 2 sets (Standard, Limited Edition & Limited Edition with Ender Box), they also posted some shots of the set:
For spoiler reasons I've hidden the front & back for those who have yet to watch the series.
Note: Limited Edition with Ender Box option is no longer available, it sold out in a matter of days once everyone demanded it to be separate from the Funimation Exclusive Collector's Edition.
Oh man I like that. The Green looks great. I've a handful of episodes left in set two but got distracted by other shows. Almost forgot that set 3 is out soon.
