I agree Rosencrantz; FUNimation's colour looks nicer but the zooming in looks weird. I'm guessing that it was done mainly to obscure Katsuragi's wardrobe choice. It ends up looking pretty weird to see Asuka (y'know, the main character) shoved into the bottom corner, while Yagyu and Hibari become the focal points.

Personally, I would have just used this cover (from the back of the Japanese volume 1 LE, that the German release used):

Although that one still shows Katsuragi, she's not in focus as much.

EDIT: According to FUNimation's website, this release is dubbed. Interesting, considering how the games weren't.

Since it looks like Kaze have the rights to it's German release, do you think they'll release Senran Kagura in the UK?

I asked MangaUK about it before. They said they'd look into it and never got back to me. Considering that they didn't even release it in France though, I wouldn't count on it.

I highly doubt it. I could be completely wrong here but it appears that the German arm acts independently and is based in a completely different place.
Their releases are actually really good quality too. If you go on the Aniblu website and check out some of the newer Kaze Germany reviews they've got good quality high bitrate video (30mbps+) and actually come with all the right subtitle tracks which aren't locked. If Kaze Germany authored and released the titles for the UK I'd actually buy them in a heartbeat - even if they were released in volumes. I think it's just the French arm which doesn't give two shits.

Interesting conversation regarding Senran Kagura here. I wonder if it will get the OniAi style cover art (with the fanservice on the BD cases) since this is a fanservice show after all.

I won't watch Kagura dubbed, I like the original voices thanks to Burst.

I like the style of the Funi one more, the one used in Germany is fairly standard run of-the-mil art style.

Funi didn't really have to zoom quite as much, they could of shifted the centre of the image slightly so Asuka is shown more, and they could easily get away with showing the top half of Katsuragi's boobs as doing that make's it ambiguous as to what she's wearing below that cut off point.

Kinda surprising it's dubbed, though the games and the Anime are being released by different companies so that may explain things. IIRC the US didn't actually get a physical release of the game, so they were definitely cutting costs for it.

Are they worth buying or is too tricky to get hold of the German releases?

Well it seems to be on Amazon.de, though I note that that release with the box is just part 1, seems to be 3 episodes as it's run time is 75 mins. Looks like the whole thing is split over 4 volumes at 23-26 euros a set.

Pretty damn pricey and somewhat a surprise to find things being split up like that still, no wonder their quality is good.

Thanks for that. For that small a number of episodes you would expect the quality to be very high in both picture & sound, especially at that price.

Since anohana is coming out in Austrlia on Blu-Ray, do you think a UK release is possible?

Those jewel cases are weird - back when I was really into collecting music, a few Aussie music DVDs came in boxes like that. They're quite nice in theory, but I've found they can snap quite easily. Also, I think there's been cases where the sun has got in due to the clear cases and tarnished the discs.

I would say so, but I think the UK distributors should wait until the Anohana movie is out for home release or whether NISA give it the Toradora! dub treatment.

Interesting, good thing the UK release is a simple Blu-ray case then.

This is a rather creepy cover.
Isn't that the show with the creepy rotoscoped art work though? :)
It is indeed. I might pick up this sub-only release (since the rotoscoping will make the English dub lip syncing a pain).
