UK Anime Release Schedule -Updated-

It was a tough decision between waiting on the first half of Kaze's release of Future Dairy that a) may or may not be here in October, and b) may or may not have crippling issues, and ordering the complete Funimation Blu-ray that's a) due out in the next couple of weeks and is b) a fair bit cheaper. Agonizing.

I'm not a Sophie but I'll add my two cents.

I'll probably be going for the Funi BD.

However... Currently the Amazon CA price is about 60% the Amazon US price. I'd expect CA + US to reach close to price parity by release and it could be that CA will drop further from it's current place. If that happens and the US price drops to meet it then it's quite possible that the Amazon US price will be better than UP1USA even after shipping + customs...

Having said that, region coding may play a small part in the decision... Although I have the ability to play region A it is not a "highly available" ability. I have one device and if that fails the disks become useless to me until I get a replacement... If the disks are region b then I can sustain a loss of a player and still continue to watch my disks.

Kaza packaging _could_ influence (what am I saying... it'll be a BD in a DVD size cardboard box with the spine facing the wrong way and problems / errors with the encode).

tl;dr Funi BD but holding a while for more info on pricing / regions / the "Kaze option"

September's stacking up to be a killer month cost-wise.....

Mail received from Amazon - Gundam part 1 has slipped to 30th November....

Blehhhhh. Not even a tweet from them to go with it? Just a big delay with nothing to say about it?
Perhaps because of its inevitability. A good rule of thumb, I find, is this: if it's coming out in the UK and it's on Blu-ray, expect multiple delays.

But yeah, quite ****** of MVM to not even mention it, especially since three whole days earlier they posted an infographic on their Facebook page showing the release date as the 24th August.

Oh, I went with the Funi version of Future Diary in the end. Sorry for keeping you waiting so long; I know you must've been on tenterhooks.

MVM's PR is non-existent and they rarely use social media. At the time of that tweet (with the infographic) A Lull in the Sea was on course for a 24th August 2015 release date but for whatever reason the set was delayed and nothing was mentioned (other than a change on their sites listings).

I can only assume MVM were forced (or decided) to release the two half-season-sets out on DVD first before the Blu-ray; as Part 2 on DVD isn't out until September.

Just got an email concerning more push-backs.

On behalf of Manga Entertainment UK:

"Due to unforeseen circumstances the release dates for Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions, A Certain Magical Index Complete Season 1 and Puella Magi Madoka Magica Movie 1 & 2 have now been moved back to September 7th, September 14th and September 21st respectively. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused customers, but this was unfortunately out of our control. Retailer sites will be updated with the new information in due course."

Oh my god, what is taking so long with Madoka?! Like jesus christ. This is the THIRD PUSHBACK. Also sad to hear Chuunibyou getting pushed too. September is going to be a hell of a month.

Acutally it gets worse. Manga Entertainment made an error in that last email. The Madoka Magica boxset now won't be released until 12th October. I'm slightly unsure about the seperate film releases however.

Jeez. I was really excited to get the Madoka movies soon. I imagine the third will end up being delayed now.
I wonder how much the Q4 schedules will be screwed around with. Usually it's around the holidays anime dates end up being all over the place.
Have any of the original Q3 titles come out on time? It feels so long since I've gotten a UK release.

EDIT:
Surely Kill la Kill Part 3 & T&B: The Rising weren't the last titles I bought.. that was end of June!

I'm am quickly losing faith in Manga. I'm not even going to vaguely pretend like I know the how these companies work but as far as I'm aware these discs will probably just be port jobs of the Madman release. Like I could understand if something like an LE Anime Limited set got pushed back or something as they tend to be original releases if I'm not mistaken (As in not identical to their US or AU counterparts) but this Madoka set is identical down to the box to the Madman release. What could possibly be holding them up? This was meant to come out in July! I mean I know they're just recap movies and all but goddamn I really want this release for the super nice looking chipboard box. At this rate I wouldn't be shocked if Rebellion got delayed too although I'm really hoping it doesn't.

Even though it maybe totally irrelevant, I've noticed Arrow & Eureka are doing a bunch of art boxes around (Late) Q3 & Q4 too, if they all use the same company that could explain the push backs.

I only say that as I remember A/L & Arrow mentioned a push back to a title around the same time before and it made me wonder if they have the same people making em.

In regards to the push backs, that's gutting..I'm actually going to have to cancel some orders as it's becoming too much in these last months of 2015.

Nah. Half the releases due in September will be pushed back to October. Half the releases due in the last few months of the year will end up arriving in 2016. Production delays and whatnot aside, if what Jerome has said in the past about anime sales being incredibly front-loaded, it won't make sense for distributors to release so much product in such a short amount of time.

If you just keep the money saved up then the delays shouldn't really mean you need to cancel anything. That said, you would have to resist the temptation to spend the money you have on something else and you'd be going longer without anything shiny and new.

I'm not sure if I have the willpower myself, my budget is already kind of bad because of impulse buys.

I don't know if everything coming out at once would be such a big issue for anime. Since it's a niche market and most fans are likely to track releases and pre-order things, there probably just aren't so many people who are interested but don't already have the release after the initial wave. It might distribute the purchases a bit more but I'm not sure it would really reduce them (though perhaps a bit).

I think, for me, the hardest part is deciding what titles not to bother getting. I'm in quite a lucky position where I can afford to purchase pretty much everything that comes out - but even so, I don't like the feeling of having spent money on a title I know I'll probably only watch once - so I try and limit my purchases to stuff I know I like, Blu-Rays and stuff I haven't seen, but has scored 7.5 or over on ANN/MAL. If I've watched something recently on Crunchyroll too, that tends to put me off buying it too, as I like to leave at least a year before I rewatch something.
