UK Anime Release Schedule -Updated-

In no surprise to anybody, looks like Bleach Box Set 12 has been delayed till July 7th : http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bleach-Complete ... ertainment

Funny thing is I was just about to cancel my pre order for it but now I don't have too. The one and only time I'll ever be thankful for Kaze being Kaze.

God knows why Kaze were allowed to take over the Bleach releases starting with season 9. And the scary thing is, if theoretically Kaze ever went out of business, we'd be left with half of Bleach out of print.

If they ever did a Season 1 + 2 Blu-Ray pack for Haruhi I'd snap that up in a second.
They don't have the license for S1 and I vaguely remember comments about it being hard to get or something.

Because they had every right to - Manga distributed Bleach for Viz Media, who became Kaze. Shows like Death Note and Vampire Knight are in the same boat.

Vampire Knight was also pre-Kaze. I won't buy any of their releases now. I either import them or buy them second hand so they don't get any of my money.

Actually Vampire Knight was the second Kaze release in the UK after Professor Layton. They mastered the discs, but Manga released it wholly under their label. Those Vampire Knight discs were just as crappy as every Kaze release since, if not more so.

I've already got the UK DVDs, but thanks. I bought the first season boxset for around £15 from UP1 at a con, and picked up the singles of season 2 for £3 each at HMV.

The thing is, a lot of the Kaze packaging is quite nice (in my opinion anyway), it's just that on a technical level, the discs are so borked. Take the Magi release out this week for example - you have to fastforward through two adverts for other releases and select your language every time you restart your player, before you can even access the main menu, it doesn't remember your position at all.

I just watched my copy of Princess Jellyfish recently, and you can't just set the discs to play every episode one after the other. You have to go right back through all the copyright crap and back to the main menu after each episode

Confession time.

When I reviewed Kaze's Princess Jellyfish, with all it's subtitle issues and disc lock (no signs on Japanese track, but signs on English audio), I actually ripped the discs and burnt them onto DVD-rs without the locks, just so I could know what was going on in the story, with all the skipping back and subtitle switching the show needed.

It need not be said that I now own Funimation's release of Princess Jellyfish.

Actually I do find that surprising given it's just a repackage of discs they've already made... what could be the reason? It's just putting Series 12 Parts 1, 2 and 3 in a box, how hard could that be?

Oh well...

Maybe they had problems printing the card slipcase, ha?

Thanks for the link. Manga's pricing sure has went up.
Except it hasn't. It all comes down to how much of a discount off of the RRP Amazon wants to give. Manga has nothing to do with how much something costs from an online store, in fact I don't think anyone does.

Correct! We don't have control over what retailers charge for our (MangaUK) titles.

It's one of the reasons why (as some of you may have noticed) that I've been pointing people towards Base.com in recent weeks. They have really good pricing and some of being very competitive against Amazon. Definitely worth checking out if your looking for some of the cheaper pricing around.
